I'd add that rather than "finding an exercise I love," I just say to myself, "So it's not fun, so what? It's just something I need to do and it won't take that long." Otherwise I just keep casting around for "fun" activities and there aren't many active things I could enjoy for X minutes Y times a week.

Thanks - my husband is just such a person. I've watched him forever scrupulously log his calories (he uses Lose It!) and work out almost every day and Just. Not. Lose. 5' 3" here, gained 35 lbs in the last year because of major stress about politics. I've lost 7.5 pounds, now 165, hoping to be back to 135. How do I "join?"

When I exercised, I kept an exercise journal. I would look back occasionally and say, "Wow, my heart rate got up to (HUGE) going much slower, now I can't GET it up to (what 80% max heart rate or whatever it's supposed to be) even exercising faster and longer!" It really helped.

Lean ground anything - chicken & turkey for less fat, but beef & lamb too. Low-fat cottage cheese provides a ton. Greek yogurt. I rarely get lower than 85 grams a day, often over 100, without trying. It's probably too much.
