I always wanted to be a nurse... Only problem is that I get queasy getting shots or getting blood taken. With that barrier, I started college as an education major, but with just 3 semesters left, I realized my heart wasn't in it. I changed my major to nursing. After 24 years of being an RN, I've never regretted it! It's…

So incredibly true! I've really noticed how much of a mental game there is in running! Funny, I've seen runners talking to themselves and before I started running, I thought, "wow...poor guy/gal"... Now, I see how it happens. I have literally talked to myself and said, "you only think you're that tired...go just a little…

I started with the C25K. I had no direction before that. It was a little stressful as I waited for the next cue, but I loved the structure with the app, but that's my preference. However, now that I have some direction after finishing the program, I love to run outdoors, and I too, use the visual goals. As a matter of…

I loved the C25K! I never ran 30 minutes consecutively, but it sure helped me increase my stamina and gave me direction as to how to start!!

Thank you! I will give it a try for sure!

Love this post!! You are truly inspirational! I am obsessed with the number on the scale. I have lost 11 inches, but only 5 pounds in the past 4 months, despite my calorie deficit. 11 inches is great, but that darn scale... It's a shame what pressure society has put on to make that number so important. I will continue my…

I have started doing the run/walk (as I can't run the whole time) 4 days a week, and then I just walk 3 days a week. I need to listen to my body more, as I was becoming increasingly fatigued and perhaps setting myself up for injury. Thank you!!

I do understand what you mean! I'm going by the American Heart Association's Chart and calculations, and they do say "The figures are averages, so use them as a general guide." Age Target HR Zone 50-85% Average Maximum Heart Rate, 100% 20 years 100-170 beats per minute (bpm) 200 bpm 30 years 95-162 bpm 190 bpm 35…

Thank you so much for your reply! I am currently run/walking 6 days a week. Do you feel that is too much? I did 1.5 miles today (all that time would allow today), and my first mile was 15'40". I know that is slow, but it is improving. For me, it's not really about the time, it's about the distance. I 100% agree that your…

I find that I really prefer to run outside, though it physically can be more difficult. Mentally, it is easier for me. I never thought in a million years that I would like to run. The hardest part is getting up and getting out there! Afterward, I feel that the stress has released from my body! I'm still not able to run an…

Gotcha! I'm eating my exercise calories now. I feel more energized. I'm giving it some time to see if this makes a difference in the scale movement, and also the body measurements. Thank you for explaining!

Thanks for your reply! I'm adjusting my protein a bit. I'm working out hard, so I know I need a little more protein than what I'm currently getting. My trainer suggested a protein drink to help with that. I won't give up!

Yes, I'm invested in my health! I've been faithful on this journey since April 17, 2022. I keep a workout and diary journal to see my progress and identify any barriers that may come about. I will do this!

I received my scale, and wow! There is quite a difference in many items being scanned vs weighed. It is a true eye-opener! Thank you!
-
Thank you...sincerely, thank you. I very much needed to hear this.

It was my fault! Thanks for the catch! I wanted to select 1.5 pounds/wk, but somehow hit 1 pound/wk. Thanks again for catching that! I'm still not sure what you meant about the Apple Watch reference for exercise...
-
No, I didn't. I just changed the goal of 2 pounds a week to 1.5 pounds a week. I understand what you're saying, so I'm not sure why the difference is 500... hmm...

You're spot on with the assumption that the app set me at 1200 calories with 2#/week loss goal. I have changed my goal to 1.5#/week, and now my calorie budget is 1700/day. I will tell you that I feel stronger. I feel better than I have in a long time. I'm frustrated by the number on the scale... why? Society has placed a…

I'm not sure what "What's the point of using your Apple Watch for exercise if you don't trust it enough to use its data?" means... I am definitely going to buy a scale. That seems to be the consensus of what I'm missing. As far as using the app, I plugged in my info. The app is what told me 1200 calories a day. I went back…

Thank you. I am eating mostly clean foods that I prepare fresh. I eat processed foods one day a week. I am sooo buying a scale! I appreciate your input!!

I haven't been weighing. I scan, and measure everything via measuring cups/spoons etc. My next purchase is a scale! Thank you!

Well, I am a nurse of 23 years. My health screening is good, other than the weight. I am not using a scale, which seems to be the common piece I am missing. I log EVERYTHING, but it is done via scanning. I plan to get a scale to see if that makes a difference. The 4-5 pound weight loss is accurate. My trainer told me it…

I scan to log my foods. For exercise, I use my Apple Watch. I know I need to relax a bit, but that dang scale! Guess I’ve been programmed to obsess over it.
