  • I'm in. I love my beer, but want to reduce the number I consume, hoping to eliminate entirely. Can I still join?
  • AWWWW! Yes, indeed hurtful! :( (HUG)
  • Oh WOW! We've been to Mexico and had opportunities for 'all inclusives'. They are very pricey, which is why we didn't choose that option. Nonetheless, I would have been so tempted to try to eat and drink everything offered, simply because it was paid for and I could. I agree with the others to enjoy yourself, but try to…
  • "To me exercise is something that improves my fitness. A jog that gets me slightly out of breath. But others will have differing opinions" I do agree! Today, I did go to the gym, doing some cardio and a bit of weights. However, I'm still trying to lose more weight and burn calories when I return from the gym. Hence, my…
  • Well, I'm 5'5 CW at 146 with a goal of 124. I am 67 yrs old and my activity is set at sedentary. I guess what I'm asking does "plodding" count as exercise. Should Fitbit be giving be exercise calories for plodding?
  • I have a few beers per day and my belly is probably a beer belly. I drink Michelob Ultra light (95 calories and 2.5 carbs) and log them all. My belly is getting smaller, but it would be a quicker process if I would eliminate most of the beer.
  • Exactly! Talk to Dr. Dr. can switch meds out if he deems this might be an issue.
  • This would be me too. If I were to have a whole cheat meal, all of my meticulously planned calories would be undone for weeks. I agree with banking the calories, but I would go for a small splurge and not a big meal. You will be glad you did.
  • Support coming your way. I had about 35 pounds to lose. 23 more to go. We can do this!
  • I had a personal trainer about 4 years ago. Well worth the money. I purchased a package of sessions, but it wasn't necessary to go every week. He gave me exercises I was to work on for a couple of weeks, then I would meet with him again and he sometimes would change my routine, up my weights, etc.
  • I have 30+ lbs to lose and MFP has me set at 1200 calories. I exercise (lots) so I can eat more.

  • I'm not intending this to be medical advice, but I'll just inform about my Dr's recommendations. My Gastro Dr. advised to take Metamucil. There is a generic form, too. He said it wouldn't hurt to take it every day if I felt is was needed. It's not going to hurt and will not cause dependency. He said the over the counter…
  • I'm regular height and will be 68 next month. Nothing I do is going to burn 500 calories.
  • I'm old and small boned, but I guess medium height for a woman. MFP has set my calorie goal at 1200. It is still very difficult for me. I try to get an additional 500+ exercise calories so I can eat more.
  • I have both Fitbit and MFP set to sedentary. I don't manually log any extra activity and allow MFP to import all of my step based activity. Throughout the day, I get extra eating calories from my step based activity, which I generally eat.
  • I'll have to look at mine. Hmmmmmm. Okay - My Fitbit goal is 1200, as is my MFP. I think it is similar to MFP in that it won't allow me to go any lower. However, as the day progresses, both my Fitbit goal and MFP goal increase according to exercise (steps)
  • For me, "No"! I'm one of the people who get up after I've gone to bed in order to eat. I can't fall back to sleep unless eat. I try to drink water, but I feel I just have to eat. Even if I've had a large dinner, most times I have to get up to eat. My choice of food is anything with carbs. Since I've been on MFP, I've…
  • My Fitbit starts out low and my 'left to eat' progresses as I get more steps and the day moves. I believe the Fitbit does take into account your step based workouts. That's why I'm questioning the difference.
  • Good info. I have both a Fitbit Alta and a Fitbit One. The Alta does not count stairs. I was curious on wearing both and hoping the One would count the stairs and all the info would be combined. Apparently this is not possible. :(
  • I also have my fitbit set to sedentary and yesterday had 17,360 steps and got an adjustment of 595 exercise calories.
  • I have arthritis in my toes, in addition to bunions, so I understand your pain. I find that the elliptical doesn't hurt. Also, I use a cross trainer (sort of like a recumbent stepper with arms). That's kind to my toes. Bicycle is good too.
  • I bought a Trek Electra Townie 7D. (I'm 67). It's a step through comfort bike, meaning you can just step through without having to put your leg over a bar. Also, it has the pedals slightly forward, which allows you to put both feet on the ground when stopping. You don't have to hop to one side. Although falling is…
  • I am so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine your difficulty! You've made lots of progress and yes, your husband is cheering you on. Hang in there.
  • My lowest weight was about 4 years ago at 115 lbs. Some folks said I was too thin, but I liked the way my clothes fit and that my stomach was flat. Fast forward to 2017: 10 lbs slowly crept on. Then I had an injury and subsequent surgery which packed on 30+ more pounds. Anyway, rather than set my goal weight at my lowest…
  • Great job! I am also almost to my 30 days. We have similar goals. 6.6 pounds is superb! YAY!
  • I have gotten 850=900 for over 20,000 steps. For the bulk of those steps, I just plod along. So, yes, I think it's possible.
  • This brought to mind the years when I was working (I'm retired now). Although I had a very short commute, I felt the need to eat as soon as I entered the house. I don't recall feeling particularly hungry, but as I headed into the kitchen, even before I changed my clothes, I became ravenous and started grabbing what ever…
  • I really enjoy the NSVs and over the last couple of days, have read the whole thread. I'm only 23 days on MFP and have lost only 5 lbs. I don't have any NSVs so far, but looking forward to being able to post my first one.
  • This is an excellent idea. I'm in sort of a 'rehab'/conditioning program, where my trainer has me doing 35 minutes of cardio and some strength training. The elliptical is one of my assigned machines and I'm very tired after doing my cardio and can barely face my strength training. I'm only in my 2nd week, so I'm sure my…
  • I read about the whoosh yesterday and was cheered after having gained 2 oz over the week. This morning I weighed a whole pound less. YAY! The whoosh is really real.
