Switching beer for club soda or seltzer
Hi all - I am losing a few inches, but still retain the belly bloat, some of which is fat. I drink 4-5 light beers (95 calories) per night, which I count in my daily calorie intake. If I switch out the beer for club sodas or seltzers, would it be expected that my belly bloat would decrease, or am I just switching the…

Logging Holiday weight gain
Is anyone logging any residual Christmas weight gain? I was up 6 lbs and did lose around 4 of water weight. I'm undecided on whether or not to log the 2 lbs that seem to be hanging on.

Non Scale Disappointment
I haven't seen my 'across the street' neighbors in over 2 months. Since that time, I lost 16.4 pounds. The guy says, "Wow! You lost weight. You look like a new person." The woman says, "Yeah, but she still has a big stomach." Needless to say, I felt awful. I still have 16 more pounds until my goal weight.

Map My Ride
I have Map My Ride synced with MFP. Today I took my first ride to get air in my tires. It was .95 miles for 9.51 minutes. Map My Ride gave me 58 calories burned. Now that seems excessive to me. I weigh 137 lbs and am 5'5". Does anyone use Map My Ride? I don't want to be eating back calories I'm not really earning. Maybe I…

Which part of your belly is the largest?
Which part of your belly is the largest? Waist, At belly button, below belly button (lower ab)? I've lost 3 inches from my waist, 2 inches at my belly button, but my lower abs are just hanging on the fat. It's got to catch up soon. :)

If you could eat one thing.............
If you could eat one thing without having to count calories or carbs, what would you choose? At the present time, mine would be a whole block of cream cheese and a bag of chips. But, thinking about it, maybe it would be a box of cheez-its. Hmmmm.

Stress and Water weight gain
Has anyone noticed a correlation between stress and water weight gain? I have gained 2 lbs in 2 days. I am eating back most of my exercise calories and my sodium and carb limits are below maximum recommended. Anyway, I have been stressed and not sleeping well because of the Florida hurricane. We have property and friends…

Going on 3 day road trip
Hubby and I are Snowbirds and in a couple of weeks, traveling from NY to Florida. Our first day is 650 miles, 2nd day, 525 and the 3rd day 300. Both of us are trying to lose weight and we don't want to negate our progress through mindless and careless eating. Additionally, though Hubby will be earning driving calories, I…

Professional Help?
I've seen several posts on this forum suggesting professional help is needed for various food issues - I'm not talking about anorexia or bulimia . While I agree that professional help may be the needed in some of these food issues and also that we lay people are not equipped to deal with such possible disorders, I just…

Legitimate exercise calories
HI all - My fitbit is linked to MFP. I frequently plod around the house, marching in place, etc. in order to rack up steps. Frequently I also jog in place. So far today I have 14,295 steps of which maybe 7000 are from plodding or marching around the house. Fitbit is giving me 530 exercise calories. My question is "Are…

MFP calories vs Fitbit calories. Am I eating too much?
My Fitbit is synced to MFP. Both are set to sedentary. I log my food into MFP and eat back many of my exercise calories, which have been transferred from Fitbit. However, at the END of the day, MFP shows me that I met or am slightly under my goal, while Fitbit tells me I am over. Why would this be happening? Am I eating…

Losing only .5 lbs a week is so discouraging.
Hi all - Although I set my MFP to lose 2 lbs per week, it still sets my calories at 1200 daily. I am synced to my Fitbit and accordingly, it says I should lose .7 lbs a week. I am eating back many of my exercise calories and believe I am weighing, measuring and logging accurately. Today is Day 6 and I've only lost 6…

Bloat or fat?
HI All - I've gained significant weight, about 30-35 lbs since an injury and subsequent surgery 10 months ago. It seems most of the weight is in my stomach, abdomen and hips. I am very small on top and consider my shape to be triangular. I started MFP about 25 days ago and lost 5 lbs, but a few days earlier might have lost…

Food scale recommendation
Can someone recommend a good food scale please. Presently mine is manual with tiny one ounce or gram gradients. Those tiny increments are difficult to see. It has a plastic dish on time which I like because it can be removed and put in the dishwasher. I am beginning to question its accuracy. Would a digital be more…

Accidentally deleted exercise calories for the day
Hi - I synced my Fitbit and MFP. When I looked at my exercise calories on MFP, I clicked on the little green icon beside the total, thinking it had some useful information. Apparently what I did was to delete my exercise calories. Is there any way to get them back?

How to log rehab program
I have MFP and a Fitbit Alta (not HRM) synced. I am starting a rehab program comprised of 30 minutes of cardio - 10 minutes each on different machines (elliptical, recumbent bike and stationery bike). Following that is a series of weight training. Should I even log that - or let Fitbit do the work?

Weight training and wrist activity tracker
Hi - I am starting weight training today. I have a Fitbit Alta (no HR) and religiously try to exceed 10,000 steps. However, I was wondering what others do with their wrist activity monitors when they're weight training. I don't want to record extra steps when my arms are moving with the weights. On the other hand, I will…

Adding food after closing out food a food diary
After completing my food diary, I sometimes eat a snack. Unfortunately, the weekly report does not reflect the changes to the food diary of that day, only the net calories at the end of the given day when I closed it out. Is there a way to get the correct amount to be reflected in the reports? The only solution I can think…

MFP, Fitbit and eating back calories
Both my Fitbit and MFP are set to sedentary and each has given me a 1200 calorie goal per day. i eat back most of the exercise calories that MFP gives me and except for a couple of days, MFP shows that I am under my goal of 1200 + exercise. On the other hand, if I eat over 1200 calories, Fitbit indicates that I did not…

Eat X number of calories for X weeks and see what happens
I've seen this a lot throughout the threads. For me, I don't want to wait 4-6 weeks to see what happens. For me, that's a month or month and half of progress I could be having rather than merely monitoring. Just saying.

Water weight gained from heat
How do you southern folks cope with the water weight gained from the high temperatures? I just returned to upstate NY from being in Florida for 9 months. The last couple of months were very hot (not that I minded), but my ankles swelled horribly and I retained a lot of water. I watched my sodium, but it didn't seem to help…

Week at a Glance
I viewed my reports after my first week on MFP. It's puzzling to me that MFP is stating that I was within my calorie goal only 3 days out of the week. MFP is considering my calorie goal at 1200 per day and not including any of my exercise as part of my daily calorie goal. If MFP expects you to eat back your exercise…

New Old Person
HI Folks - I've been on MFP for 5 days. I'm almost 68 years old and have never been this heavy in my life. I'm so depressed, I have difficulty leaving the house and being around people who know my formerly thin self. I've gained 35 pounds since September of 2016. I went from a size 4 to a size 14. Up until September, I was…
