How to log rehab program

I have MFP and a Fitbit Alta (not HRM) synced. I am starting a rehab program comprised of 30 minutes of cardio - 10 minutes each on different machines (elliptical, recumbent bike and stationery bike). Following that is a series of weight training. Should I even log that - or let Fitbit do the work?

I just let fitbit do the work. It might not catch everything but I always found adding too many exercise calories wasn't very helpful for me. If you find you're losing too rapidly you can always look into adding them separate to get more calories.

I think I'm more concerned with not meeting my step and mileage goal. My personal goal is 12,000 steps.

None of those activities have steps (maybe the elliptical would count as steps to a Fitbit though). If you want to hit 12,000 steps, you'll need to take some steps. But if you're doing rehab, I'm thinking this program was designed for you to rehabilitate from something and you should do that plan (and not worry about the 12k steps or get the 12k steps doing something with steps).

Thank you for your response. Yes, it's a rehab plan to gain strength from rotator cuff surgery. Although I have had PT, I have become very weak and all of my muscles have atrophied from inactivity. Additionally I've gained 30 pounds from that inactivity (and overeating). I've lost a couple pounds and my BMI is now barely at the normal level (25.5) However, my fat is 39, which translates to lots of fat and very little muscle. :(

Whether you log exercise or not wouldn't affect your steps you've taken. If you're not meeting your steps then you'll have to make more time for step based activities.
