Weight training and wrist activity tracker

Hi - I am starting weight training today. I have a Fitbit Alta (no HR) and religiously try to exceed 10,000 steps. However, I was wondering what others do with their wrist activity monitors when they're weight training. I don't want to record extra steps when my arms are moving with the weights. On the other hand, I will probably be walking around some. Suggestions?

I have an Apple Watch and as soon as I start an activity in the app, MFP deletes the calories from my steps. So no double logging.

I would love an Apple Watch. Unfortunately, my Fitbit is only step based.

I log it in as "weight training" with the exact time that I begin. As long as you have the time in there it shouldn't double count.
