I have insulin resistance and prediabetes. I happened to stumble upon a YouTube video by Dr Jason Fung about 2 weeks ago. He has several videos and books and because he makes so much sense, I’ve probably listened to most of the videos. As a result of those videos and my own research, I am now doing intermittent fasting (16…

Yes - been erratic for 3 years. Gained 30+ lbs 3 years ago from rotator cuff injury and surgery, which I lost. 2 years ago I had bunion surgery and a joint replacement in my big toe.....gained 20 during the recovery and ultimately lost that. Was inactive with the joint replacement and developed other issues with the same…

I just purchased an Apple Watch and use the information it gives me for my energy expenditure. I use MFP to log my food. Today (so far) I did 13,600 steps plus a workout. MFP gave me 55 exercise calories. Apple Watch gives you a breakdown of your daily activity. Among the information it conveys is Active Energy and Resting…

Me too. :( .

I've had the Fitbit One, Alta and Charge 2. I used them every day and they all performed really well. I was seriously considering getting the new Charge 3 as I wanted to use it for water aerobics. I thought the Charge 3 would have everything I wanted to use it for, but I ultimately purchased the new Apple 4 and I love it.…

What I've been doing is adding both active and resting calories and then subtracting the food calories from MFP. I get more active calories from the watch than MFP gives me credit for.

I tried the recommended method of disconnecting My Fitness Pal and then reconnecting. My Fitness Pal is showing that Fitbit is connected, but the Fitbit app is saying it's not. :( .

Same here.

I think if one has a problem with alcohol (like I do), it's important to have a plan when faced with either cravings or situations where you might want to drink. For example, if you don't want to drink at a social function, what will be your escape plan, how will you handle it if offered a drink, or...what about a nice,…

Just checking in. Today is my 100th day alcohol free. I still haven't gotten control of my food situation. Where I used alcohol to help me sleep, I now eat sugar and carbs before bed. It isn't as though I'm even hungry. Last night I even got up after midnight to eat. So, now, I really have to buckle down and get a grip.…

Hi Everyone. I haven't posted in a while, but I just wanted to check in. I'm on my 95th day alcohol free. The article from Mother Jones is certainly an eye opener. It's articles like this that make me wish I never drank. My weight is beginning to creep up. I'm getting careless with my food and it seems without the alcohol,…

Well, I was a beer drinker - now 54 days alcohol free. I lost about 20 pounds while still drinking, logging all of my calories. I lost an additional 8 when I quit. I wasn't eating as nutritionally as I should have been, choosing to forego food in place of alcohol. I'm editing to add that I still have a beer belly. Though I…

I resurrected my own thread. I have been alcohol free for 54 days. When I quit beer, I lost an additional 8 pounds. However, I still have the belly bloat and still wonder if it could be the carbonation from the sparkling water. My goal weight is 122 lbs and I am 128 lbs now. (5'5") I measure 31.5" at my belly button. I…

53 days AF. I’ve lost 27 lbs since I’ve been on MFP. Wish the big belly would go away.

For those that cannot moderate, stay away from that first drink. If you're on a train track, it's not the caboose that kills you, it's the engine. Hang in there everyone. (Day 52 for me) Wishing success for everyone. :)
-
I’m in. On my 48th day. I cannot moderate. Wishing all a successful March in meeting whatever goals you have set for yourself.
-
At first, yes. Now at 44 days, I'm starving all the time. :(
-
Well done Everyone! 40 days AF for me.
-
Mine is happiness, sadness, stress, boredom, nice weather, bad weather, etc. I cannot moderate. 38 days since my last drink. Hang in there everyone.
-
This is awesome. Going to try tonight. Thanks.
-
YES! I'm on my 32nd day and only manage 5-7 hrs of sleep per night. I do take the magnesium citrate supplements and drink either Sleepytime or chamomile tea in the evening. Last night I downloaded 'Headspace', a meditation app. I'm anxious to try it tonight.

I had surgery last January for a torn rotator cuff. I injured my shoulder in September of 2016. Anyway, inactivity after the injury and more inactivity following the surgery, resulted in a gain of 36 pounds. Of course most of that weight gain was caused by alcohol calories . I've lost 28 lbs since July, 2017 with about 8-9…

9 Mich Ultras for me for about a year. My tolerance had greatly increased since I retired. I tried moderation, but always found myself back at the 8-9 range. I actually felt better at 5-7. Anyway, early evening on 1/10, I counted the beers I had already drank and I was astounded at the amount. I didn't even feel drunk. I…

I think no one is answering because no one knows for sure. I'm only 22 days alcohol free and it's still going on. I hope it ends soon though. :)

I have been craving cereal. I haven't eaten cereal in years. 3 weeks alcohol free and starting my 4th week. Everyone is doing such a superb job! :)
-
I'm in. Today marks 3 weeks alcohol free. I cannot moderate. :/ Incidentally, I lost 9 lbs in these 3 weeks.
-
Moxie: There is a recovery group online. www.soberrecovery.com There is a very active forum where you can post. I cannot moderate either. I am 3 weeks without alcohol.
-
Awesome jobs everyone!!! 2 weeks alcohol free for me. I’m still not sleeping very well. Hope that improves! Good night All.
-
Yes, I have. I understand it's a common symptom. :/

Day 13 for me. As I said earlier, I cannot moderate. Everyone is doing so well. Let's keep on keeping on. :)
