  • I visited Pier 39 and Alcatraz in San Francisco Saturday and climbed hills equivalent of 22 floors and walked more than 5 miles! (And I’ve logged 9K+ steps Sunday and Monday this week.) I never would have been able to do that before I started getting healthy, and if I can do that now at ~290, just thinking about what I’ll…
  • Totally not weird. I do the same thing. In fact, I went shopping tonight, as I haven’t bought any new shirts since I started losing. I’m still wearing my 4Xs, and tonight I brought home mostly 2Xs and a 1X! Holy kitten! But ... I don’t *love* the 2Xs (four of the same shirt, different colors, *sigh*), and immediately…
  • I’m cleaning out my closets to get rid of too big clothes and find smaller clothes that fit (and make way for even smaller new clothes!). Today, I found the T-shirt I wore in my first driver’s license photo, so junior year of high school. And it wasn’t as baggy as it was back then, but it wasn’t tight either. Considering…
  • I went to a block party yesterday, and imbibed and indulged. I logged everything, even though I went over my calories, and drank plenty of water. This morning, instead of going out for breakfast tacos (to soak everything up), I got back on track and made my own healthier one (and it was delicious)!
  • Hahahahaha! :D Got a new NSV today, too. I was going to bed last night, and I realized all my dress pants were dirty. :s Threw them in the washer, promised myself I would get up early to throw them in the dryer ... and woke up late! I was so mad at myself! I put everything in the dryer, thinking I would wearing slightly…
  • Same! Now I'm thinking I should work on a goal sweater :)
  • My new, smaller work pants are already starting to fall down!
  • I started my journey on my own after a T2 diagnosis last year, but joined a weight loss program at work earlier this year thinking that I was doing it either way, so I might as well get the extra help! Everyone at my current job has been so supportive. My NSV this weekend is that the health coach at work recommended I try…
  • This is a weird one. There was room on the couch with me lying down on it for my cat to come lie down next to me, instead of on top of me. She’s never done that before — I don’t think there was room!
  • Congrats! I’m on the same journey as you, diagnosed Nov. 9. I hope I’ve done as much hard work as you have by the time the year is through!
  • I got diagnosed with T2 in November (in addition to my high blood pressure and high cholesterol), and I've been trying so hard to change my lifestyle to avoid checking sugar levels and injecting myself every day. Today, I got my three-month lab results at the doctor's office, and all my hard work is paying off! - A1c is…
  • I used to eat almost all my meals out, and now I’m (kinda) learning to cook. I still eat a lot more processed foods than I probably should, but tonight, I seared a tuna steak! (I’ve never seared anything on purpose!) I know that’s pretty easy, but I can count the number of times I’ve handled raw meat on one hand ... I just…
  • Today I tried on some jeans that haven’t fit in six years, wanting to see how close I was to wearing them. Then, I wore them to the store because guess what?! They fit!
  • I got a new personal best calorie burn walking on the treadmill — 563 in an hour. And for the longest 90 seconds ever, I had the treadmill incline at 14! (I was curious how high the incline went but was afraid I might fall off if I made it any higher. But I didn’t!) I’m hoping to go to San Francisco for work in a couple…
  • Ha ha, I love this! What a great problem to have!
  • Iowa used to put weights on licenses (I don't know if they still do); Texas does not.
  • @orangegato O_o That’s insane!!! No, I didn’t pay nearly that much! It was more than a normal frozen pizza, I think $10? I got it at Central Market, which is like the Texas version of Whole Foods. So some things are normal priced while others are crazy. But I go once every couple months for their awesome salad bar and to…
  • Takeout or delivery pizza (Pizza Hut, Domino’s, Papa John’s, Little Caesar’s) was a once or twice a week thing for me, since I used to eat nearly every meal out. I’d usually get two larges and bread (because coupons, what a deal!) so pizza for like two or three days ... and then I’d alternate between places because there…
  • Yesterday at work, the elevator in the parking garage was broken ... again. When it happened last month, the stairs hurt my knees so much after one flight I gave up and walked every floor of the garage to get to the fifth floor (like a car would go up) to avoid the other four flights. But I had to get home and didn’t have…
  • Maybe TMI, but my bra unhooked under my shirt yesterday (twice). :s Once was on my way out of the office. :# I thought maybe the hooks bent, but no -- it's too big! I had to lose the extender this morning. I've been using those for years!
  • Congratulations on achieving this awesome goal! This is exactly where I’m trying to get myself. I was diagnosed T2 in November. Thank you for the inspiration!
  • Losing 10 percent of my SW (352.6 pounds), since that's always the medical trope. Only 5.1 pounds to go as of this morning!
  • My doctor put me on a 1,200-calorie a day diet, and I lost 24.6 pounds in the first month. (SW: 352.6, so I have a lot to lose.) I think I'm down a little from that, but haven't weighed in in a couple weeks. When I started, I also went cold turkey on junk/fast food, salt and added sugar, so I think that made it easier,…
  • Well done! This is my goal, too. I have all these same problems. Totally inspired.
  • That’s insanely awesome! I’m hoping to lose that much weight eventually ... right now though, I’m just focusing on 10% of my SW to keep me from getting discouraged. Any tips to share???
  • It's been a great week! I had another NSV today! We got snow -- SNOW -- in San Antonio, Texas, last night, and I was able to button my winter coat for the first time in a while this morning.
  • Hi @Hamsibian! This is probably waaaaay more than you wanted to know, but here's what's worked for me for the past month: I'll preface this by saying I've had a really bad, just abysmal diet for a long time-- I was eating fast food once or more a day, skipped breakfast (and lunch sometimes) and when I was making food at…
  • Two in two days! I went to the doctor's office this morning, and my BP was 126/70! It was 162/90 something last month. They said I should be proud of myself. Never in my life has a medical professional said that to me before. B)
  • That's encouraging. I was just diagnosed last month, and my numbers aren't super out of control yet. I've already lost ~20 pounds (weigh-in is tomorrow!), so I hope I'm tackling it before it's too too late. Thanks for sharing! :)
  • A co-worker told me she noticed my clothes were fitting better. I was kinda ready to give up yesterday, so that made my day! :) :) :)
