I received word that my blood sugar was now in the Diabetes Type 2 range. A co-worker, who is very overweight and has horrible eating habits told me "I heard you're one of us now--welcome to the Diabetes Club." That was a turning point for me. I knew I'd have to shape up eventually but that was really the breaking point.

One thing I'd like to contribute is form. Many people I see in the gym have terrible form, i.e., swinging their backs while curling, bending their wrists when doing bench presses, etc. I think you'll find it is well worth the effort to study proper lifting form as much as anything when it comes to weights.

Completely agree and understand. I can remember eating sugar as a kid instead of dinner (long story) and I'm sure that didn't help things. My biggest success so far with sugar has been eliminating it from my coffee. I did that about a year ago and now I'm fine with just cream. Not drinking sweet tea is my big challenge…

As a former smoker (quit almost 7 years ago), there is no better thing you can do for your health, wallet, and social standing than to quit smoking. Anything is better than active drug addiction--call it what it is. Good luck and God bless, you can do it!
