Yes, I'm sure that there was water weight involved. Saturday was the first day of my cycle and while I'm pretty lucky that I don't bloat like crazy, I know hormones can do a lot. Just good to track trends over time. A few years ago, I went paleo-ish for about four months. I didn't eat grains, but still ate dairy and I…

So my first attempt at a two day refeed seems to have been successful. Last Saturday and Sunday I increased my calories to 2300 each day. Monday I dropped back to my deficit level at 1700. (I'm 5'7 and 33, still nursing my 1-year old). Last Friday's weight was 187.2 lbs. and this morning was 185.0 lbs. I've also tried to…

My mom came for a visit so my husband and I took advantage of having a free babysitter and went on a date to the gym. I've been pretty good about prepping for our turkey trot by completing c25k and starting the 10K plan. My husband has mostly watched the baby while I go to the gym so he's a bit behind. We've already…

@RespectTheKitty I'm sorry to hear you're not doing well on your medication. I started lexapro about 5 weeks ago and it seems to be helping. My house is a disaster (burst pipe caused major damage that's yet to be repaired) and that's certainly not helping, but I know I would be worse off if it weren't for the medication. I…

Week 9, day 3 completed. I've been playing with incline (awful) and speed (okay) on the treadmill while I run. I'm still slow. But it's feeling a bit easier than I expected. The one minute recovery walks aren't much for recovery, but it does nicely break up the monotony. My husband and I are signed up for a turkey trot on…

I love this entire thread. Today I started listening to Abbey Orr's podcast while I ran. There's so much awesome info in this thread, so many more articles to read, podcasts to listen to... I love it. I looked back over my numbers to try to calculate my maintenance numbers and I'm giving a two day refeed a try. I was going…

Week 9, Day 3 of 10K done! I'm feeling the tiniest bit congested/headachy but didn't feel bad until after I was off the treadmill and stretching and then it was "I feel very warm and a little lightheaded." I'm still having some toe numbness but nowhere near as bad as before. My untrained and untested hypothesis is that…

Our little guy at the end of the walk (I hope this uploads properly)

I was supposed to do w9d3 of the 10K training today. But I woke up coughing up phlegm and the thought of the warm stagnant air in the gym filled me with dread, so I convinced my husband to go to Valley Forge National Historical Park with me and the baby for a nice walk. The baby's been teething molars and sleeping horribly…

@7lenny7 I did that math, and it seemed too easy. Shouldn't a sine or a cosine be involved? See, I really do make things too hard...

@MNLittleFinn hi, I'm Heather and I'm an over thinker. It's nice to meet you :) I do really well having a plan in front of me (like c25k is awesome. It told me when to run and when to walk and I love it). I guess I still feel like I'm not a runner and it's got to be a lot harder than it seems. Like honestly, just put one…

First run of November done! Week 9, day 2 of 10K. Five minute warm up, (run 10 minutes, walk 1 minute) 4x, five minute cool down. Easy enough on paper, and I've already done it once before. I did so many dumb things. I checked the course for the turkey trot (smart). There's a hill. 140' rise over .65 miles. Really not…

I just completed c25k and started the 10K app. I can run a sub-14 minute mile for intervals, but when I'm running 30 minutes straight, 15 minute mile ALL THE WAY. I do what I can, when I can. And when I can do more and do better, I will. A 12 minute mile is a dream for me.
-
I completed c25k a few weeks ago, but given that I run 15 minute miles, I wasn't close to a 5k. I started the bridge to 10K and then I majorly derailed. Life. Sigh. But I had a goal for myself of running a 5k in October and even though I didn't do an official race, I ran one on the treadmill yesterday. My sister ran…

I'm jumping in again! I missed my mileage goal last month, but I ran a 5k and completed c25k. Two out of three ain't bad! I think I'll hit 30 miles this month, but I might make my goal 20 so I get the boost of hitting my goal (the mind games I have to play with myself). We're spending thanksgiving with my husbands family…

I can't keep up with this thread (or your mileages or paces) but I ran today! Life has detoured me, but I was determined to reach another goal of running a 5k in October. It wasn't official, just on the treadmill at the gym. My sister ran with me virtually, and since she gave me a one mile head start, she only finished a…

What if I told you I don't like resistance training? Like I get really, really bored? I still need to do it? You're sure? Okay then... I know that's been lacking from my routine, same with bumping up protein a bit. Why are the things you know you need to do, the hardest things to do? Thank you to those who replied to me…

I've loved reading this entire thread though I haven't gotten to listen to the podcast - my one year old keeps me pretty busy. My husband and I have sort of accidentally fallen into the 5/2 way of eating since we joined MyFitnessPal. We tend to have parties or events on the weekends and we've just been a bit looser with…

I finally caught up reading all these posts! Who knows how many more will be posted while I write this. I finished c25k 10 days ago, and then took a few rest days while we travelled out of state. And then took a few more rest days to prep for my son's first birthday party. It was a week of celebrations - actual birthday on…

I completed C25K today!! It wasn't as amazing a run as last night but it was still pretty good. I can't believe I did it! I downloaded the 10K app since I do really well having a plan to follow. I haven't signed up for the 5k yet and my husband has a doctor appointment that conflicts with it. I'm very introverted and have…

W8D2 complete! Same run as Monday but this one felt so much better! I still run slower than slow, but the time passed much faster this time. I grabbed the handles on the treadmill every now and then to check my heart rate (I don't have a heart rate monitor) and I only got up to the upper 180's instead of the 190's. (Have I…

Thank you to everyone who replied to me re: my snails pace. I'm never going to win Boston and I'm okay with that. I was just afraid that I've missed some peak by not running in my teens or twenties and now I'm locked into a 15-minute mile forever. True story: when we did the mile test in gym class, I ran 3 laps out of 4…

W8D1 done! I dropped down to 4.0 from 4.2 and it's still really challenging but I'm wishing for death less. @eleanorhawkins I keep up the same kind of mental commentary.

W8D1 complete! 28 minutes of running. I dropped my pace back down to a 15-minute mile (I had been trying to push to 14) and it was still tough but felt better than my last few runs. I loosened up the laces (haven't relaced them yet) and I think that helped because the numbness didn't set in until much later. Did anyone…
-
Thanks for all the suggestions on relacing my shoes. I haven't done it yet, but 100% on my list of things to do. I had to get to the gym today before I could talk myself out of it, and that meant no futzing with laces today. I completed week 7 of C25K! 25 minutes of running (trudging, plodding) straight! Yes, I only…

I completed W7D2 of C25K last night - my first run of the month! 2.75 miles total of running and walking during warm up and cool down. I've got a question for the more experienced runners (so, everyone) - my left index toe is giving me some trouble. It starts going numb as I run. Only on the left side and after about 10-15…

I'd like to join in! I'm very new to running so my goal will be quite low. I'm still completing C25K and I did about 32 total miles in September, including walking warm ups and cool downs. If it's okay, I think I'll continue tracking total miles. October goals: Complete C25K Run a 5k (28Oct - haven't registered yet, a…

I completed w6d3! I ran without stopping at 4.2 miles per hour. 4.5 is much too fast for me right now. There was a guy two treadmills over that was running at 8.4. I have to say, good for him. That's not a goal of mine. I'm super satisfied with myself and my run tonight.

I had a few bad runs the past week - W5D3 was a challenge and I needed to take two 1-minute walking breaks. It was more mental than anything else. (I had a pipe burst in my house last week and everything is damaged. All 3 levels of my townhouse are torn apart by the water remediation team - at least there won't be mold! -…

I completed W5D2 yesterday - running for 8 minutes at a time! My mind was very ready to give up long before my body was, but I kept on going. The last minute or so was very tough, but I think again it was my mind trying to convince me I couldn't reach that goal. I'm nervous about my next run - 20 minutes straight! Is it as…
