It's not what you do between Christmas and New Years that's important. It's what you do between New Years and Christmas that matter.

How many calories do you burn standing still for 10 minutes, if that's all you're doing?

After a while, I find myself dissecting everything I eat. How many calories? Does it fit my macros? Even going out to eat, I was at a popular chain restaurant and ordered the wings. Their website said 900 calories. But when they arrived, there was 8 grilled wings with half a cup of ranch dressing on the side. More than…

During this holiday season I had a few people comment on my weight loss. Since I don't want to engage in any in-depth conversations about it, I just agree and deflect. For instance: They say: Hey azironasun, have you lost weight? With a chuckle, I say: Well, my wardrobe was getting tight and I'm not ready to buy a new one.…

In cutting way down on processed sugar & refined flour products, I've noticed that . . . how do I put this . . . my day-to-day flatulence is is almost nonexistent now. My skin is less oily and my bad knee hurts less when I walk. All great things!

I have a family member that tries pushing Reliv products on me. No. . . just NO.

Motivation is a struggle for all of us. Motivation never stays for anyone. Good habits, discipline and determination to keep going is what will get you there. You can’t expect that new diet motivation to last the whole time. You have to work on making your habits simply routine. Things that have helped me: Plan your menus.…

"You don't want to lose any more weight, you're face is starting to look gaunt" Said by a very fat neighbor, even though I'm not even to the halfway point in my weight loss journey.

People take different roads seeking fulfillment and happiness. Just because I'm not on your road doesn't mean I've gotten lost.

Motivation is only the start. To achieve real success you need dedication and perseverance. You set your goals, set your plan, then ACT ON IT, FOLLOW THROUGH & STICK WITH IT. Develop the habit of eating right and stick with that habit even when your motivation wanes.

I also have 68 pounds to still lose. Feel free to add me.

Having been on my program for 10 weeks now, I've figured out when my cravings are most likely to come on and, more importantly, how to deal with them. I usually get a craving around mid morning. A few ounces of beef, chicken or ham (whatever meat I'll be having for lunch later) knocks it right down. I get another craving…

It sounds like there are multiple issues here. Let's address each separately. If losing weight is the only issue, remember: Weight loss is done in the kitchen. Take in less calories than you're using each day. As for joining the gym, it sounds like the apartment building workout room has all you need to tone up. But it…

I figure that I consumed over 3500 calories on Thursday, Thanksgiving day. I planned for it, accepted it and enjoyed myself. On Friday, I went back to my regular weight loss program. I know that if I stick with my program, any temporary weight gained at Thanksgiving will come off.

"The Skinny: On Losing Weight Without Being Hungry" by Dr. Louis Aronne. This book explains why the consumption of fast digesting carbs, like refined flour and sugar, trigger rebound hunger, leaving you hungry all the time and leading to weight gain. It explains why the consumption of protein keeps your hunger at bay while…

Lose the weight first. Second, tone up your body with exercise. Third, if excess skin is an issue, deal with it it after one and two.

Garlic salt. A minute or so before the vegetables are ready in the steamer, sprinkle some garlic salt on them and toss. Let them steam for another minute, then enjoy. It's quick, easy, and adds tremendous flavor.

Perhaps my experience can help, Denis. I had 2 bad knees. Had the left one replaced last year. The right one needs replacing but I want to see how far I can take it before absolutely having to do that. When I started MFP two months ago, along with counting calories, I began an exercise routine that is working for me, so…

I worked in college food service management years ago. Whenever the group representing the vegetarians would meet with us, they appeared to be one of two types of people. 1. Scrawny and malnourished looking, from protein deficiency, or 2. Obese from too much cookies, cake, candy and a high sugar/carbohydrate diet.…

Muscle mass is built in the gym. Weight loss is done in the kitchen. While injured, adjust your calorie intake accordingly.
