While I've never been formally diagnosed with celiac disease, eating gluten free has helped my health so much! Sorry if this is TMI, but I used to not leave the house without pepto tablets in my purse. My digestive system was so upset all the time that I actually had a colonoscopy at the ripe old age of 21! I always…

Thanks for the advice! I'll stick to my normal hydration and take a look at my sodium/carb intake.

That was wonderful of him!! I'm glad you shared your story. When I saw the title of your thread I actually started thinking of what I would write. I think acceptance goes a long way. For me, acceptance and love from my boyfriend, friends, and family of me before starting my health/weight loss journey meant a lot and helped…

Thank you for all of the info!!

Thanks for posting this! I haven't watched the video yet and I don't know if this was discussed, but on the two days where you "re-feed" and increase your calories and carbs, is there a consensus on what should be consumed? Like does the person in the video advocate nutrient dense carbs ("healthy" food) or whatever the…

Thank you for the insight! I think I'm still losing weight... just at an ultra slow pace. So I'll be more mindful of overall calorie consumption because I'd like to see slightly quicker progress.

That's a good question, I've been averaging about 2,000-2,200 calories on Saturdays and Sundays (and during the week I'm consuming about 1,200-1,400). Going to things like restaurants, birthday parties, or consuming alcohol watching football games (or something similar) seem to derail me. I just need to have some extra…

Thank you both for your responses! It's difficult to narrow-down my problem foods because sometimes I feel okay eating one thing and the next time I eat it there's an issue. BUT I think I can definitely say dried fruit, over-ripe fruit (like bananas-basically anything with high fructose), wheat, and dairy are not good for…

Just to clarify your last paragraph- if I feel better than normal today (because I ate more calories yesterday) are you suggesting I continue to consume more or less calories?

Bahahaha "Did the Chipotle come with ecoli?" Thankfully not haha. What I mean by I looked and felt lighter is that I was noticeably less "bloated" the next day (which is strange because you'd think that wouldn't be the case after eating Chipotle the day before lol). My pants also felt like they fit better. They didn't feel…

Do you freeze some of your end of the week meals? Or how long do they keep?

1) My boyfriend who is loving, patient, and understanding 2) Having access to medical care and specialists who help make living with a chronic illness more manageable (my chronic illness is Dysautonomia/POTS) 3) Endless amounts of gratitude for my body and it's ability to recover and manage the challanges it has gone…

I buy bags of frozen vegetables and then pop them in the oven with some salmon or chicken. I pour marinade right over the chicken (Tessemae is my favorite brand) before putting it in the oven. It's very fast and and lasts me 2-3 meals. I also love healthy slow cooker recipes. I just dump the ingredients in a slow cooker…

I personally can see a difference from the pics. One of the BEST things I read on this forum is that weight loss is not linear. When you break a bone, you can expect it to heal in a cast in "x" amount of weeks. When you're trying to lose weight you have to take into account many other factors: water retention, hormones,…

It sounds like you're on the right path :). Just wanted to throw this out there, I highly recommend the book: "It's Not You: 27 (Wrong) Reasons You're Single" by Sara Eckel. She had an essay published in The New York Times and her book is one of my favorites!

This resonated with me. I actually have pictures saved on my phone from 2 years ago to remind me of when I was at my goal weight. It's been a long, stressful 2 years since then and I've went up two pants sizes, lost muscle tone, and gained weight in all the wrong places. Sigh... I'll get back there!

I just have to say this was a fantastic response!! Thank you!

I agree that depression has caused a roadblock for me. I've read a lot of articles on how exercise can help elevate your mood. You may know the articles I'm talking about that say, "Go for a run and you'll feel the happy endorphins when you're done!" I notice I only feel mood elevation after exercise IF I already felt good…

I'm 28-years-old (and will actually be 29 in about a month). I've never been married. I'm on the more emotional end of the personality spectrum, so this does get me down. I know people say "you're so young" when you're in your 20s, but it's difficult when you grow-up in an area (the Midwest, in my case) where the majority…

I actually couldn't handle only 1,200 calories, so I bumped it up to 1,475 (I think that's the exact number on here? I'm still kind of new to this). I stick around that or sometimes eat around 1,300. And I gained 15 lbs in a short period of time due to over-eating and not exercising. It's not a lot to lose, but I'm fairly…

Yes!!! Most social gatherings in my area (and possibly age group) seem to revolve around drinking. I've learned the hard way that fruity cocktails, margaritas, and hard cider contributed to my weight gain. I've been sticking to no alcohol or a seltzer water with Tito's vodka and lime wedges. Some people really put on the…

A lot of good responses! And some funny ones as well ("I'm not a gremlin so it's generally not a problem for me") haha!

Thank you all for the helpful suggestions!!

I'm pretty sedentary, 5'3," 125 lbs, and trying to get back to 110. 1,200 calories has been... miserable. Honestly I think I'm going to raise my caloric intake.
-
Yes, I have a blood pressure monitor and it says my blood pressure is normal.

I have an office job, so I'm very sedentary during the day. I have a health condition so I'm only able to do light exercise (gentle yoga, short walks, and at home toning exercises). Should I be eating more to make-up for the calories I lose exercising?
-
Thank you all for the tips! With my stats I had the app set to lose 1 lb per week (so to consume 1,200 calories). I adjusted it to half a pound per week and that bumped my calories up to 1,380 (if I remember correctly)? So that seems a little more in-line with what I may need.

I live in Milwaukee, WI!

Sorry about that. This is my second day on the app and stats would've been helpful. I'm 5'3," currently 125 lbs, and my goal weight is 110 lbs (that is when I felt my best). The only exercise I do right now is very light yoga, walking, and some at-home toning exercises due to a medical condition I have- so my actively…

I'm 5'3". Current weight: 125 lbs. Ideal weight: 110. Tomorrow will be day #3 on my journey of a healthier lifestyle.
