  • Current weigh-in is at 146.5 lbs. Starting to go down.

  • Today will be day 84 AF. On the agenda is the gym and then put up the Christmas tree. So, I booked my first trip to Europe since I started this AF spree. It's for April and of course the plane serves free unlimited alcohol. WHY? Maybe this is intentional, to sedate the travelers so they don't cause trouble? That sets off:…
  • Who is going to be "drinking AF" with me for Thanksgiving? Strength in numbers :) Strategic Planning: I did my total wine run for AF wines for Thanksgiving. Now I got my favorite NA Sea Glass Pinot Grigio. Best so far and I like it from Total Wine. Wherever they get it from, it tastes fresh. I also planned it out so some…
  • I see 3 victories here. First, congrats on 17 days AF! AND a second congrats on stopping at qty 1. AND a third congrats for managing a social situation with drinking friend (big trigger) where it's super easy to follow others and do like they do. It's good you are able to exercise this level of control.
  • Day 81 AF done. Re: leg and feet discomfort/pain - a few things I found helpful to me: 1-sleep nightly with elevated lower leg/feet using a pillow or rolled up small quilt 2-if I get aches, typically afternoons on hot days when I've been active, I will use my Sharper Image hand-held massager (best Xmas gifts I ever got)…
  • Hey folks, 80 days AF done - all thanks to your support. For real! And getting up every morning to spend a few minutes checking in here, setting my intention for the day, and then a few minutes before falling asleep at night, I read stories about people who completely stopped drinking, what their journey was like, and what…
  • 2 months + 18 days AF done. Thank goodness I am not counting the chocolates. Maybe I should. Getting re-started even if day 1 is awesome. Jump out of that nonstop cycle. Abstinence is the answer and it's not misery, you get your life back. I was told this last Saturday (by the husband who drank 6 beers): "You were a nicer…
  • @MissMay I could use one of those AF espresso martinis right now! Looks delicious. 78 days AF done. But it felt like day 1 since I had zero chocolates and no snacks and dieted today. Hungry and I can't sleep but I'll go find some melatonin in the house and try that.
  • @Walela617 you totally did not let me down and the fact that you are strong enough to write it down and be real and honest with yourself is really the foundation of the success you will realize moving forward. Your experience is very normal and part of the process. I have messed up countless times. My behaviors weren't…
  • I'm still at a standstill at 148 lbs. I'm glad the daily weigh in is working well for folks. For me, it gives me frustration. I am opting to stop the daily weigh in and move to weekly on Saturdays.

  • @RubyRed427 best of luck to you. I hope you still check in on us. Your inputs and lessons learned have always been super helpful to me. Today is 2.5 months AF for me. I will continue AF life. If I re-start just a bit over the holidays, history will repeat itself. I will just buy AF wines, book myself the 2 week hiking trip…
  • @SparkSpringtime69 sending hugs & strength for you @Michieb125 I think you mentioned this is not a race but I do see it as one big obstacle course, I guess that is life in general. And those obstacles are of all different sizes and types, many that look impossible, some unexpected. This journey for me feel likes Ninja…
  • 2 mo. and 14 AF days done. Really productive week. I put in a very long work day yesterday and went to the supermarket late, at 6pm because we were out of lettuce and tomatoes and I did not even think for a second about wine at all. I DID think about a "goodie" so a 3 musketeers bar jumped into my cart at checkout. Good…
  • 2 months + 12 days AF done. Start the day with Intention. YES!! Today I will not jump right into work but exercise in front of the TV for half an hour starting now. @Womona - Curious what you thought of the NA Rose you ordered? Giesen NA Premium Red wine at Total Wine I found pretty good if you are into reds. It has an…
  • 2 months plus 12 days AF done. @xbowhunter, well said and you are right that alcohol is a poison. Even diluted and marketed in elegant bottles or cool packaging, it's a toxin and a bad one. @RubyRed427 oh no, that is disappointing but hopefully this allows for more time to get scores even lower. My doctor forgot the…
  • 2 months, 11 days AF done. Do you guys have any particular AF duration "goal" in mind? I sort of just operate on a daily goal mentality. All I know is I probably won't drink through Thanksgiving because it will set off the holiday drinking season so it's a bad idea. I did the vacation and b-day and Labor Day and Halloween…
  • 2 months, 11 days AF. Life is way better today because I went out for a long over-due run yesterday and that along with avoiding the diet soda helped me see the world thru rose colored glasses. I know what is going on, I am weaning off the sugar and diet drinks with caffeine that replaced my wine, so now experiencing the…
  • 2 months, 10 days AF done. I had a tough weekend but left my "rant" about it in the LA thread. Today is Monday and fresh start. I just want to feel good and happy today. I really hope this thread keeps active. I probably would've lost it this past weekend if I didn't have this team's comraderie. @Walela617 I must've missed…
  • At 71 consecutive days AF. @SurferGirl1982, Wow you did over a 100 days AF, so amazing. I read that there are milestones in this journey whereby the risk of falling off plan gets high, the 90 day mark, the 6 month mark, and the one year mark and I suspect it's because people feel like they achieved something and they got…
  • 2 months, 8 days AF done. I almost lost it yesterday but held together miserably. I was having such an easy time past month, yesterday was just crap and not sure if my nutrition and sleep are off. @RubyRed427 I really like your approach and it's good to not blame ourselves when something normal and expected happens, it's…
  • 2 months, 8 days AF done. Trust me, your support is keeping me going. I didn't drink last night. I put myself to bed at 7:30pm just to end the day and put the wicked wine devil to sleep. Today got in 2 hours at the gym. Taking a B-complex and magnesium now to help. 5 o'clock wine devil strategy: have a relaxing herbal tea…
  • Weighing daily, keeping a spreadsheet and just posting 1x a week, otherwise I forget where I left off. I seem to overeat 2x week to catch up on lost calories. Day 01—10/27—147.7 Day 02—10/28—148 Day 03—10/29—149.8 Day 04—10/30—148.4 Day 05—10/31—148 Day 06—11/01—149.2 Day 07—11/02—148 Day 08—11/03—148.1 Day 09—11/05—148.5…

  • @Michieb125 I think forestdweller1 gets the piggy-bag credit :). 2 months and 1 week AF done. And today was tough. I was 75% going to say the hell with it and go out to pick up wine. Very close. I got up too early and started working at 3 am (yes) and kept going until 4pm (yes, that is 13 hours), I had a serious work…
  • 2 months, 6 days AF done, happily. Thanksgiving - always at my house, skip appetizers, BBQ turkey and some years go non-traditional and make something else like BBQ ribs. Sides are usually grilled sweet potatoes and zucchini or asparagus, whatever can be made outside by my husband on the grill is great so I have full…
  • Month 2, 6 days AF done, happily. I was so super busy at work yesterday I didn't get my first meal in until 2:30pm and I ran to the market right before since I was out of everything. Unplanned day is always risky at my AF stage! I did check out the wine aisle to see if they had any "new" AF beverages, but nothing. I did…
  • @Breathe57103 if you want, feel free to invite me as your MFP friend since you're practically my neighbor and we can plan to meet up like we had discussed before, either for a hike or coffee.
  • Month 2 Day 5 AF done. I have an insanely busy work week so my focus is on getting my butt to the gym today no matter what. This is mandatory for my new lifestyle. It is my foundation for my AF life. Today I am weightlifting. I find my mood is great after and I tend to prioritize me the rest of the day. I do that and same…
