I like Stevia, but I add it myself in very low quantities. Too much does have a strong, sweet taste. I've never liked artificial sweeteners and like the fact that Stevia is plant based. In fact I have a Stevia plant growing in my back yard that I picked up at Home Depot and I use the leaves in cooking and in smoothies. I…

]megs4413 wrote What's the reasoning behind that? I've been on this diet for a while, but I didn't ask a doctor about it or anything. I just used the BMR calculator and subtracted 1000. No wonder your calories are so low. You have to times the BMR by your activity level then subtract the appropriate number of calories. If…

Have you recalculated your calories lately? As much weight as you've lost, your BMR has dropped significantly and you probably require 200-300 calories less than you did when you started. Use the BMR calculator on MFP with your starting and your ending weights. Times that by your activity level and find the difference. If…

There are days I'm just not hungry and don't meet my 1200 calories, but typically I make up for it the next day and go over. I get fuller on high protein days. I distribute my calories throughout the day and that way I can make sure I stay on track...breakfast @250, lunch @300, dinner @450, and snacks @200. I eat small…

I've never hit the potassium goal even thouugh everything else is balanced and within range. I wonder if it.is. being logged correctly.

Ask your doctor for a full thyroid panel.

You use your current weight. What did you choose for your activity level and how many pounds did you say you want to lose per week? Multiply your BMR by your activity level (sedentary 1.25/lightly active 1.37/active 1.55) and then subtract the appropriate number of calories per day (500 for a pound a week and 1000 for 2…

Me too. Lost 30 in 2015 and spent 2 years putting it all back on again. I knew I needed to get back on, but something in me kept fighting it. This time I'm going for 50 and will work on maintenance much longer once I get there.

As others have stated you don't need to exercise to lose weight. MFP is all about keeping calories within your goals. I too have had fibromyalgia for 20 plus years, but thankfully mine has become mild. Even so the exercise I do is mild to moderate. Have you tried yoga for the fibro? It can be adjusted to any level and…

My Stevia comes straight from my garden and I love it for cooking and smoothies (doesn't work for baking because it is a leaf). Although the powdered stuff is processed....it is not fake like the other chemical substitutes.

Pumpkin (394 mg/cup) and orange squashes (486 mg/cup acorn squash) are high. That is the only time I ever come close to meeting the K (potassium) goal even with my balanced diet, but I'm not deficient. I never figured out what was wrong, but maybe because it isn't always counted. I'll have to watch it.

Me too. I have two kids and 7 grandkids that I love to do things with, but sometimes I find my energy level holding me back. I babysit the 8 month old and 3 year old 2-4 times a week and need to be in great shape to keep up with them. I just started logging a couple weeks ago and already I've lost weight, started…

There are no weight loss miracles or even metabolism boosters other than what nature planned for us. It is called healthy food and exercise. I keep my macros pretty balanced and check my micronutrients fairly regularly to make sure I'm on track. That's one of the benefits of logging everything. If something is routinely…

That is a bit ambitious and not considered healthy weight loss. It is a good way to set yourself up for burnout and failure. Weight loss really is just simple math. To loose 2 lbs. per week you need to have a deficit of 1000 calories per day off of your N.E.A.T (BMR x activity level constant). 1500 calories is the lowest…

Yes that is realistic. Last time I did this I lost 20 lbs. in two months and then another 10 the third month. However I foolishly quit logging because of stress in my life and eventually I added the weight back. Now I'm doing it again and expect the same results as long as I am careful with my logging and stick to it. I'm…

Yoga is a good exercise for all ages and comes in many forms. I taught yoga for seniors at the hospital I worked and for many of them it was the only the exercise they ever got. Now that I'm a senior I've found it to be a good way to ensure I get some exercise every day as I know I'm not going to go to the gym like so many…

"Good" foods contain micronutrients whereas most junk foods do not. A weekend off shouldn't kill your diet, but overall keep an eye on them because they are required for proper metabolism and metabolism affects weight gain and loss. http://www.livestrong.com/article/287094-micronutrient-diets-to-lose-weight/ "The lack of…

It is possible to lose weight after menopause. I lost 30 and am doing it again (bad me fell off the wagon and quit logging). It does get harder as you get closer to your maintenance number. Sounds like you are doing everything right. Are you eating back your exercise calories? Like someone else mentioned, it looks like…

I would look up a few ideas in the data base before going out. I see a lot for PF Changs and although maybe not exact, it will give you an idea. I always do that when I know I am going to a restaurant or fast food.

Snacking was my Achilles heel as well. I was grazing all day and all night long, not because I was hungry but because I was bored I guess. I think it is all a matter of mind set. I quit cold turkey. I like logging calories because it gives me a standard to achieve and I guess I've always been an achiever. I've been so good…

When I shop, 90+% of my foods come from the 3 aisles around the outside....lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, reasonable amount of dairy, meats, and some healthy bread. I just won't buy junk/processed food any more. I cook from scratch, spending 30-60 minutes per night in the kitchen. Cooking does burn calories. If I want…

I use Greek yogurt, frozen berries (blueberries freeze very well and are good), sometimes a half of frozen banana, a little almond milk to thin it out and ice. I have added powders in the past for protein and fiber.

Reducing portion sizes is an important part of calorie counting. Your goal of course is to eat less calories than you were when you were gaining weight and there are multiple ways to help with this. Changing the type of food you eat may be helpful for some people who are accustomed to eating high calorie foods such as fast…

We sound a lot alike. I too lost a lot of weight (30 lbs) and then gained it back after I stopped logging and exercising. I'm over 60, retired, and like you past menopause and finding it harder and harder to keep those pounds off. Now I feel like I'm back on the right road and losing weight again. I am looking to lose…

20 g of carb is basically vegetables only. I tried a low carb/high protein once and was very disappointed. It only measured carbs and protein (not calories) and as I recall I couldn't even keep my carbs down to the target of 50 g. For me it was torture. Also I'm not all that meat crazy so had a hard time getting the…

Not that I'm a doctor or even weight specialist, but I'd really question that advice. You don't mention your weight, but I did a couple quick BMR calculations for your age and height. Your BMR is the amount of calories your body needs just to metabolize, breath, sleep, heart to beat etc. If you weighed 160 it would be 1399…

I started limiting my sugars in my 40's and now really don't crave it the way I used to. I still like sweets from time to time but try to stay within the sugar guidelines. I've never liked many sugar free substitutes, but I do like Stevia and use it in my baking and cooking. It is natural from a plant and in fact I have my…

I too am bi-polar, take medication, and have suffered from over-eating during times of depression. I have gone through times where I just put one piece food after another in my mouth knowing how fat it would make me, but not caring at the time. I find logging calories very helpful to break that behavior because it gives…

I also have 1200 calorie goal and think it would be very hard to eat much less especially exercising. Make sure you are weighing and logging accurately. I eat regular foods and very little low calorie foods with the exception of one zero calorie drink per day. I try to eat about 200-250 calories in the morning, 300-350 at…

The report referenced does give you all the micronutrients on an individual basis including dietary cholesterol which is contained in animal foods. Good luck bringing down your triglycerides. My lipid panel is terrible and a lot of people on the previous site I was on swore by low carb/mod fat diets to bring down your…
