I did some Googling today regarding Sucralose and water retention and although I couldn't find a study, there seemed to be a lot of people who felt Sucralose caused their water weight gain and a few sites backed that up. I was curious because I started gaining weight (instead of losing as I was) just a few days after I…

I would find a real doctor to advise you. First of all as others have pointed out 1000 is too low and unnecessary. Let MFP calculate for you and don't go below 1200 if you are going for 2 lbs per week. Secondly 60% (150g) protein is extremely high, even dangerously high if you have any kidney problems at all. The RDA…

Losing weight at 1200 calories (I'm a senior w/ low numbers). My macros are still at the default, but I find I usually end up with 40/40/20 eating the foods I like. Might be left over from old low carb habits I formed from earlier diets. I don't eat added sugar and keep white starches to the minimum.

Are you bipolar? Do you see a doctor and are you on medications? In my experience depression doesn't fix itself. Yes, I have had periods in my life where I just wouldn't/couldn't get out of bed. Eventually with trial and error with multiple medications and self-determination to improve I got past it. Depression is greatly…

I take Effexor and Abilify. Can't remember how long, but seems about a year or so. Been on so many over the years. Can't say that I gained any more weight on one than the other, as I've been gaining steadily for years. I went off Depakote for shaking and I think that is when I started these two. Can't think of any side…

I believe firmly after trying numerous ways to lose weight that tracking overall calories, ie. CICO, is the best and possibly only way to lose weight. Some people find low carb high fat or high protein diets more to their liking, but in the end having a deficit of calories at the end of the day/week is the only real way to…

The other problem I just remember is that I started drinking wine again, which I had given up (and have given up again). 2-3 glasses a night adds about a quarter of my daily calories. Because I'm over 60 and sedentary I have a very low NEAT burn and didn't think about how low it would be even in maintenance. It's hard for…

I lost 30 of my 50+ lb goal. Was going through a lot of family stress, was out of town and having a harder time exercising. I hit a plateau and got discouraged and depressed on top of everything else. I quit logging thinking I would maintain what I was doing for awhile and start again when I got back home. By the time I…

Why did you choose that distribution of macros? Are you meeting the other two or going over? I personally wouldn't worry about protein as long as it was over 20%. I'd play around with the numbers until I found ,what worked for me. I'm not vegan, so can't give you many suggestions. I know my vegan friend eats a lot of…

We have the same problem with my 11 1/2 year old granddaughter who started gaining weight at around 6 or 7 and now is 5'3" and weighs 140 lbs. and knows she is overweight. We have consulted with her physician and try to teach her to eat good, balanced meals and watch the snacking. However she is very sedentary most of the…

Looks correct to me. The % is in calories, the number is in grams. There are 9 calories in a gram of fat (as opposed to 4 grams for carb/protein). Therefore 18.8x9=169.2/269=62% fat. Is that the question?

How low? You do need fat in your diet. Do you track oils you cook with? Butter even if it is just a "pat"? Do you eat cheese, eggs, nuts, meats, fish, avocados? I end up on the other end with about 40% fat, but it seems to be my happy place so I don't worry about it too much as long as I'm losing and feeling good.

I've had problems importing recipes correctly so can't be much help. I thought that the nutritional data came from MFP once it matched the ingredients, because mine never have anywhere matched the calories that the recipe shows online.

I think the bad name for Tilapia is that it is farmed in less than desirable conditions in countries like China where water pollution and banned chemicals are not up to U.S. standards. Here is a good article from Snopes. https://www.snopes.com/food/warnings/tilapia.asp "Overall, Chinese tilapia gets a moderate overall…

That's quite a reduction. I wonder how much is water and how much fat. If you assume it was all water then 55 grams of meat before and after would be the same. If some were fat it would still be in your favor to count 55 grams. I think I would stick with the label.

I have a hard time with recipe builder sometimes since it measures in servings and I am cooking for a large family. I've had to weigh the whole meal, then try to decide how to divide it for 6 of us and usually leftovers. I wish it would give you the option of putting in weights and giving the serving size in weight. Also,…

I'm lucky because I mostly eat at home and therefore can avoid most temptation. I don't buy junk food. I log ahead so I know what to expect and adjust beforehand if necessary. I eat foods I like and am used to, just in smaller quantities if necessary. I do some sugar-free low cal foods so I can work in snacks and desserts.…

I see you first logged on in April. Have you been trying to log calories or are you just getting started? The calories MFP uses depends on your age, height, weight, activity level and goal (lbs per week you want to lose at 500 calories per day per pound a week). I'm on 1200 calories, which works for me, but I'm older and…

Yeah my daughter goes on those every year or so. Buzzes around for awhile eating virtually nothing. Swears she loses 20 lbs in a month and then goes off them and gains 30. One of these days I'll talk her into actually logging her calories. I'm the tortoise, she's the hare.

What did your doctor suggest for lowering the triglycerides. I ask because I have very high cholesterol, LDL, VLDL, and triglycerides. I've tried low fat diets....no change. I read somewhere that low carb actually worked better and tried that.....still no change. I take 2 medications.....slight change. I think genes are…

When I was out of town I just estimated my food portions (hotel I stayed had food but no calories listed) and continued eating the kind of foods I always do. It is a little bit harder, but as long as you are logging you will have a good ballpark of where you are. Choose restaurants that post calories online or better yet…

I see you just logged in today. Are you currently logging calories or just estimating? Who determined 1200 calories for you. You don't state your age, sex, height, but 1200 is the lowest for women and most women will lose 2 lbs a week at that. Try two weeks at weighing all your foods. Also you need to eat more calories…

If you lose the weight and it works for you...go for it. However, you might want to log your maintenance calories and your exercise calories for a couple weeks just to see where you are. You might be surprised. I personally lost too much weight after the birth of my kids (nursing), so never had the struggle except to put…

A deficit of 5,000 calories per day.....hmmm? If I stopped eating completely that would still be less than 2,000/day. Maybe your scale needs replaced.

I thought I could maintain on intuitive eating, that's why I once again have 50 lbs. to lose. Our brains can lie.

I believe what I was taught in 4th grade. Choose a variety of foods from the 5 food groups (meats/protein, grains, vegetables, fruits, dairy) and you are going to eat a healthy diet. To me healthy foods are for the most part found in the produce, meat, dairy, and pasta sections of the store. A steak (or chicken/fish),…

Depends on how vigorous the activity. Do a search under exercise, choose the activity, put in the minutes, it will put in your weight and calculate for you. I checked yours and it gave 466 for the 110 min walk and 212 for the 50 min aerobics at 254/hr. The web based product has a list of all the activities so you can see…

For 40 years I was that skinny friend that couldn't put on weight no matter what I ate. I was 5'6, 120 lbs. and constantly nagged about how I was too thin.....which by the way is just as painful as calling a person fat. Then I suppose my metabolism slowed down (which is why BMR's drop with age) and I got fat over a 10 or…

Isn't that what I get when I boil a chicken/turkey carcass? Did someone learn how to make money on a depression era food source? When I got done I make my dog cookies with the left over chicken bones ground up, add a few greens, bake them, and he loved them. Really....$2.00 a serving to put vanilla flavored bones in your…
