Wow, has this thread picked up steam! Awesome... I am curious to view on this question. For those who are not planning on quitting long term - what is your definition of successful / sustainable moderation? I consider myself having a 'healthy' relationship with alcohol (beer). For probably the last 8-10 years, I never (and…

All moderation and honest/accurate logging.

1 down, 1 in progress and potentially 26 more to go. Great to see so many new faces added to the challenge! Especially guys. I'm definitely "outnumbered" here.
-
Not only would I - I do. Hate things in my pockets when I'm running. Handy when I'm running to carry stuff in when I'm in shorts (shorts have no pockets)... Especially when I'm on vacation. I don't dress for style so I could give a rip what people think.

Great job everyone! I close the month at 25 days without (all in a row) & 6 with. I'm going to shoot for a totally free dry Feb, but I'm not sure at this point how stringent I want to hold myself to that.

I for one, have no intent on quitting... This is merely a participation in a challenge for me. I will continue to do what I've always tried to do and that is to live in a place where I have sustainable moderation. To me, that means to know when to dial it back, when to turn it off and when to enjoy. For each of us, that…

I'm in again for this month.

Today is day 19 for me. Gave away the 5 cans of beer that were in my fridge last week. For the moment, if I wanted one, I couldn't.

It is wise to know what activities you enjoy and don't. At my age, I refuse to do some sorts of activities that I hate. Nothing is sustainable long term if it is not enjoyed. Only you know best what you like best or find interesting.

I began doing Pilates last year (with a certified Pilates teacher) and it has made a noticeable difference for me in terms of core strength, stability and flexibility. I also had been lifting weights (not really heavy lifting though) and had been doing light yoga (vinyasa) long before I began Pilates. I think yoga and…

This has to be one of the most "shallow" questions I've ever read.

Kudos to the huge victory!

Are you lost? Sure you're in the right thread???

Congrats on passing your first big test. Every step in the right direction... is a step forward to be sure. As mentioned as far as weight loss... It's all about being as honest and as accurate as you can with logging. Sounds like you already know that though. I shed about 50lbs and still drank in moderation. What I notice…

I'm a moderator as well. I don't have any intentions or desires to quit. I'm just along for the current challenge. That being said, I don't think I consume nearly as much as what others might based on the information shared. I get stuffed ... as in... I can't squeeze any more in me... after 2 beers. Just no more room.

I always have worse sleep when I don't have a beer or two. Not sure why... but it is the case for me.

Welcome... jump on in. Great group here!

It is possible for many to moderate their intake. I'm against demonizing any food/drink period. Unless it's an addictive issue. That can be with alcohol or it can also be with food... Moderation is key. If you are unable to moderate in a healthy manner then there could be more to it.

Same here... It's wine or beer... attached to almost everything. It would fold in a week here. We seem to have a new brewery sprouting every few months.
-
You can do this... One day at a time!

Good for you! DUI is the reason why if I have the keys, I only drink water or coffee. When I drink, it's at home.

Today marks 2 weeks of abstaining. I had a thought to see how many calories I’ve “saved” from the challenge here so far. My typical pattern is to have 1 beer a night and sometimes 2. Never more than 2. As with many of us, along with the drink, comes the snacks. Here’s what I estimate: - 21 = Total cans/bottles of beer not…

Welcome... jump on in with both feet! Great group here. Some are trying to quit completely while others get better at moderation.

Or at least a serious talking to....

Water for me.

This is a great perspective! Being home all day with it is a challenge. Sounds like you are on a great new path!

Great work! Yoga is awesome.

Lol..... I know the feeling....

My spouse has helped immensely. She lets me spend the money I feel is important to me on the gear I want and doesn't question my eating habits. Not sure what else I can ask for. Whether or not she decides to engage in any of it is completely up to her - not me.
