It's not over but today will make 10 days for me. 41 days to goal.

I am... My target is end of Feb. which will have taken me to 51 days.

Hang on out in here and let us know how it's going and what strategy you are using! Good luck!!

Excellent! I approach alcohol as I have exercise and keeping the large amt of weight I've lost off. All things in moderation for me. For me it's not desirable to quit alcohol completely. No intentions. No more or less was it desirable to say I'll never eat "x" again. One of many pleasures I enjoy in life. Having the…

Learn a musical instrument. Can keep you busy for life.

When someone is truly ready to make the change... they will. Great intentions to start but no true motivation to sustain. People constantly come here seeking friends for motivation. That's a failure from the start. Friends for the community aspect and perhaps to get inspired, I can see. Motivation begins and ends with self.

Perfectly stated. OP - I think you have developed an unhealthy relationship with food and what may be behind the true meaning of exercise.

You're not rambling... It's real.. And, it is different for everyone. Each of us need to come to terms with it (or not) on our own- whatever that means. Regardless, I think becoming aware of it and knowing how to deal with it honestly is key. Otherwise, it get's away and then issues come into play. I keep using the term…

Pretty powerful… Thanks for sharing. Someone here may be, I’m not aware of one. I personally come from a family (mom’s side – not my mom) with a long history of alcohol abuse. That in and of itself has always made me conscious of my intake and patterns. I potentially walk a slippery slope but have always kept it in check.…

7 days down - 44 to go.

Welcome to MFP and this thread/challenge! Great bunch of folks in here...
-
Set your goals and then take it from there. Remember rest days should be part of your plan too.

I'm full of Irish/Canadian blood - but not from Canada officially. My Grandmother/Grandfather were born there. Still have A LOT of family there who I connect with.

An emotional time / period for sure.... Sorry for your loss. And... job situations are (or can be) stressful. Sounds like you are hanging in there. I'm on a drinking abstinence period. Not the first - won't be the last. Joined a January challenge here and put a self-imposed goal to make it through February as well.

Most people have no clue - yet complain they are gaining or can't lose. Until you run the numbers as accurately and honestly as possible, the mystery will remain.

Nicely done... It's amazing the bloat (at least in my opinion) that comes with it, isn't it... It also seems to go away fairly fast once you stop for a small bit.

6 down - 45 to go until goal. The five cans of Rogue Ale in my fridge keep looking at me each time I open the door, but I simply don't care. One time I abstained, there were 6 bottles that sat in the fridge for 4 months and by the time I opened them, they were bad so I had to toss.

Congrats on 2 weeks! You've slayed a huge dragon by doing what you did at the restaurant. You dealt with it on your own terms and succeeded! I have no doubt you'll figure something out for March.
-
4 down - 46 to go to hit my personal challenge.
-
To me, that would be a HUGE victory. At a wedding reception in a brewery - double whammy!! Well done!
-
Awesome.. Remember.. I'm holding you to the Feb challenge! :)
-
3 days down - 47 to go to hit goal.
-
2 down - 48 to go to hit my goal.

I did 2 rounds of H/C. At that point I was new to weights so by using the program I became acquainted. I found it pretty useful. I certainly didn't look like they claimed I would when it was done - but I wasn't (and still not) aiming towards that. Could not stand the commercials involved in the discs - but that's with any…

Welcome and good for you! Everyone here has made a conscious decision on how to make this challenge work for them. Some of us want to get on a more sustainable moderation track and others want to simply make an effort to quit (short term or long term). Jump on in and good luck!

Soon to be 52. Feel free to add away if you are looking for support and are not a friend collector.

So here’s where I’ve been since Saturday. Went to a local brewery and didn’t drink a sip (never do when I have the keys). But, I walked out with a growler of one of my favorite beers. Since the beer goes flat pretty soon, I finished most of it by Tuesday and had to toss the rest due to it being flat. Shot my 2 per week…

Here's a link to the podcast in the event you might be interested in listening to it. https://the1a.org/audio/#/shows/2018-01-09/the-united-states-of-alcohol-abuse/113189/@00:00 Synopsis: Alcohol is a unique legalized drug in American culture. It’s not a crime to consume in all states (unlike marijuana). There is little…

Love the reformer! If I was doing work with the jump board, then I'd consider it cardio, otherwise I'd log it as strength.
