  • Right now I just use my iPhone. It tracks steps and distance and that's all I really need.
  • When I started MFP was recommending ~3500 calories. That's primarily because MFP is built around the 1-2 pounds a week to be safe metric. However, the safe metric as I understand it is really more so 1% of your body weight/week which means at much higher weights, your safe number/week is higher. For example, at 300 pounds…
  • You're also getting close to having lost 30% of your starting weight. That's amazing.
  • @NicoleVT83 You're doing awesome! Thank you very much for sharing your pictures  You can tell a huge difference in that second set. Keep up the awesome work!
  • @bmeadows380 PlentyOfFish.com is by far the largest and I think has been around the longest.

  • I want to "woo" this post except MFP ruined "woo" for me. So here it is manually; woohoo!
  • Thank you for posting it! I agree with you about weighing daily. Most days I find I'm actually looking forward to see what the scale says. Weird, I know.
  • Outside my main motivation of getting to a healthy weight and being able to live a normal healthy life, there were two things that kept me on course when I was starting out. One was that I had promised my parents that I would come home for the holidays. At my highest weight, that was not an easy task and I wanted to keep…
  • @crazykatlady820 One of the hazards of losing a lot of weight; those jeans are brand new (well, bought last month). Each picture is actually a size down of jeans now that I'm thinking about it...
  • I love seeing the progress pics. Especially with folks from this group
  • Here are mine. First pic is a comparison of me at ~600lbs (before I started) and a pic just before Christmas having lost 80 lbs. The last one is me today at 120 down (~480lbs). I've been cleaning today so last one I'm a bit dirty/sweaty.
  • I like the woo, as a woohoo! I don't even know how you get to "bad" from "woo".
  • Had to buy my second new belt since September; my pants were falling off. Using belts as a measure, thats about 8 inches lost.
  • I'm fighting the same thing this week. January was by far the most total pounds lost for me in a month since I started, and this first week of February it feels like my body is fighting back! I may actually end up with a gain for the week, which would be my first in a non-vacation week. It's a little puzzling because…
  • Welcome. Does anyone like the pats? Looking forward to hearing more from you.
  • That's pretty cool!
  • I didn't know about the zip. I may take a look at that thanks :)
  • Does anyone know where to get BIG custom bands? I've wanted to get either a fitbit or an apple watch, but my wrist is about 10" in circumference and most custom bands I've seen top out slightly over 9".
  • I've definitely been down that road (lost weight, gained it back). Welcome :)
  • So, this is kind of an odd NSV, but I haven't bought a new car in 20 years, primarily because I was worried about looking stupid squeezing in and out of them in front of a seller, getting out of breath walking around a big lot, etc. My old car was old, but my butt had beat the front seat into submission over the years and…
  • I tried this this weekend. All I have to say is man that looks easy, but they are moving fast. My 490+ lb self was going whoaaa. Then about 5 minutes in she's all, well that was the warmup, time to step up the pace! :open_mouth: Time to step up my game
  • I get this. I don't like people to see me struggle with anything, especially things that are easy for most of people. I didn't go outside to walk until I was fairly confident I could do reasonably well. One thing I want to do at some point is work with a physical trainer, but I also really don't because I don't want them…
  • Totally going to try that.
  • These are great ideas! I love the idea of visualizing it. When I was home for the holidays we cooked a prime rib for dinner and Dad came over and told me to hold the tray (the meat was ten pounds pre cooked). He said there; you've lost 8 of those. It's astonishing how much weight we get used to carrying.
  • When I started trying to walk more I literally paced in my apartment for x minutes at a time. Felt stupid, but it got me moving. You can do it
  • @GothicsDarkAngel Awesome! So far so good for me this week walking each day. I've been getting about 50 minutes in over the day.
  • If you do 5 minutes 6 times in a day, you've done 30 minutes. I do a lot of my walking like this. I work a desk job and multiple times a day I get up from the desk, go outside and walk for a short period of time. Staring down a 30-40 minute walk is daunting for me at my weight, but three or four ten minute walks-I can do…
  • You can do it! I had the same experience in September last year; bought a scale that could weigh me and found I was 100 pounds more than my worst estimate. Since then I'm down 107 pounds. Just start :)
  • Dude I feel you. I'm in the same boat. For a while, when I was getting out of my car my stomach would push over the horn and beep it. Talk about embarrassing. I've also lost 100+ pounds before and gained it back. Really hoping to keep it off this time. My problem is I typically get to a place where I'm feeling so much…
  • This story echoes mine a lot. I was also athletic in high school and played sports including football and gained weight *very* quickly when I got out of college and started working in a sedentary job. I kept eating the same way I had when I was being so active and the weight piled on quickly. Before I knew it I was at a…
