good job on increasing your distance and you are running a 10 min mile. You didn't mention if you ate before your 10k run. You need to eat something before longer runs. I eat a banana with PB before my runs. So try and have your PB and banana 30-45 min before. Like rcarter91 mention to also hydrate.

welcome aboard to being a triathlete. I started 5 years ago with Sprint distance and worked up to full IM. Swim, bike, run keeps training fun and you get to learn 3 different skill. Just get out and TRI

figure out how many calories you burn for per mile and then how many miles you plan to run. Then eat 1/2 of those cal before you run if possible. for me I burn about 100 cal per mile so close to 1000 for a 10 mile run. I eat 600 cals before that run, and 200 cals during the run. This is a Saturday morning run. Overnight…

welcome to the 50's and glad you got in better shape. 50's are not like they were 40 years ago when my grandparents were 50. keep it up

Carbs take a couple days to process. So I add a small amounts to my dinners 2 days before my long runs. You have to eat before your long runs. I make a bowl of overnight oats (400 - 600 cal) and eat 2 hrs before my long runs. my other options bagel with PB and banana with PB for short runs. See what works for you. Once you…

I swim 3x week 2400-2800 meters Freestyle. I mostly feel my lats and shoulders stronger. Swimming is tough to get the correct technique down but once you do it is good to get heart rate up. Your health club should have a Masters swim class. It is made for adults learning to swim and improve strokes. watch what you eat…

lonestarwings thanks for this post, I clicked on it because I was also eating 1750. I am 5'11'' 205, goal 190. I do a lot of cardio and would eat back calories. Now I am adding 4 days of weights to my routine. After reading responses I am upping my daily calorie goal and more protein. Thanks everyone for good responses.

I wear a Garmin HR monitor while training. Never had it give alert for low HR. congrats for keeping up with losing weight and…

I don't add salt to most of my meals. During Ironman training on long bike rides i would cramp if i didn't drink/eat enough so I started using Saltstick tablets. Saltstick is the brand and easy to take.

“I can’t have too many.. I need to wake up early for the gym!” That was a great feeling I have the same feeling, I am 53 and hangovers last longer. Long runs or gym workouts feel better. great work

Welcome back to the pool. Your Garmin should link to MFP. I use a Garmin for triathlons and it has a pool and open water tracking. So check your Garmin. My last swim was 33 min, 1650 yards, 381 calories, I am 6' 200

I also found skinny taste and have tried some of the recipes. Eggplant ones are easy and taste good

awesome job, in order for you to make it to World Championship you had to win your age group or top %. You came a long way from the couch and lot of hard work. B) I completed my first full Ironman in September and started in the sport about 5 years ago with Sprint distance. Bragging rights to my other 53 year old friends.…
