  • If you don't like the texture, try blending it! Seriously!! I love doing that! Mix with cinnamon & sugar or sweetener & use to dip apples! Tastes like a fabulous cream cheese dip with extra protein! It's awesome! I'd like to try it blended with salsa! I bet that's good, too!
  • Hey thanks for the input! That might be a good idea! Before vsg, I was dabbling in low carb and was messing with replacing some pasta with zucchini, etc. However, I wasn't watching fat at that point, so things may be a little different now. I do want to try making lasagne with zucchini for the noodles, tho! It will be…
  • Those are good ideas! I like the windows open idea for baking...except it's only 19° right now and bound to get a lot colder before winter is over!
  • That may be a very good idea. Thanks! Before surgery, i did a lot of baking and cooking and put things in my freezer. So now hubby has been pulling out homemade caramel rolls and banana muffins and burritos and pizza pockets, etc. So far it doesn't bother me. But I do know that the smell when I actually bake/cook sometimes…
  • Thanks! Sounds like both of you ladies have some grab ideas for me! I surely do appreciate it!
  • Hey thanks! That is exactly what I have been wondering if will happen to us if we try low carb together! I could do something like you do, tho! Maybe make 1 dish of carbs for him at each meal. Not sure what about the homemade cookies he loves in his lunch tho. That may depend on my strength and will power each week.
  • Okay that's really great to hear! Thanks! I appreciate the input. Just curious.. what do you consider processed foods? I love to cook and bake. If I make cookies myself, is that processed food? I'm guessing so, but there seems to be a lot of different ideas on what determines 'processed'. What are your guidelines? Produce…
  • Hello! Welcome to the group! I am still pretty new here myself, as well as new to the WLS life (My VSG was exactly 1 week ago today!) Anyway, I'm sure there'll soon be others making you feel right at home here. Everyone surely has made me feel that way! I like this group, and hope you do, too!
  • Right. And that makes sense. If a person isn't ready to commit to a lifestyle change perhaps they actually are not ready for surgery. Although it does seem like surgery will help the lifestyle change be easier than it would otherwise have been. However, I do not think the lifestyle change is effortless. I believe it is…
  • Ok, I have a question. My sleeve surgery is scheduled for next Wednesday 11/8. So I do not have experience with the sleeve. But those of you that do: can you help OP and I to understand? I know VSG isn't a magic bullet. I know after the sleeve I will need to stay severely cut back on calories and do my part with tracking…
  • Hi! I am so sorry for you! I know this is tough. I am on day 6 of my 10 day pre-op. Mine, however, is a full liquid diet, so it is different than yours. However, I thought I'd share some things that have helped me, and maybe something will help you a little bit. If nothing else, maybe knowing that somebody else has been…
  • Thanks, Melissa! I appreciate the input! For sure the reminder to stay hydrated! Maybe that was part of my problem. Day 4 is done, and I'm feeling quite a bit better. Although I still tire easily. Today was a harder day appetite-wise. I wanted so badly to actually EAT something. Any advice for that problem?
  • Good to know about the B-12. I might try that. I have some B-12 gummies but after checking out the carbs, I wonder if maybe the sublingual wouldn't be a better choice. I woke up feeling significantly better this morning. Today is only day 3, but maybe it will be better! I sure hope so! Thanks, all you people for the…
  • Hey thanks for the response! I've been hoping that the first few days would get me over the hump. My week gets busier after tomorrow and I'm hoping for more energy to power through! You have given me hope that I will have it!
  • I would love to be friends! I'm still in the pre-op stage, but eager for any and all in put, and super enthused about this journey. My surgery will be 11/8/17.
  • Please please add me! My surgery is rapidly approaching and I would really appreciate some friends who have been there/are there with me!
