I don't follow a program because I lose motivation with them and skip days. I do whatever I feel like doing making sure to hit all the major muscle groups at least twice a week. I didn't think a program would be needed for someone just trying to get a "normal" non-skinnyfat build. I am not looking to get bulky. I think…

We just gonna have to find some non-filling high calorie snacks to munch on throughout the day. :D

I found the problem. I didn't have "allow negative calories" enabled in my MFP account, so it wasn't accepting some of the step offsets my Garmin device was sending.

Biking: 446 calories per 30 minutes at 16-19MPH. I burned 1360 in 2hr 18m at 17.5MPH AVG. Running: 298 calories per 30 minutes at 5MPH. I burned 422 in 26 minutes at 5MPH AVG. My road bike is really high end, so it's not surprising I burned way less than that estimates I would. I am just getting started with running, so…

I don't think that's the problem in my case. I use a Garmin Forerunner 945 watch with HR monitoring/GPS/Elevation/etc. It has "active" and "inactive" calories that it adds up and gives a total. I would be pretty pissed if a $600 watch had such a big calculation flaw. After a 108 mile bike ride yesterday, I was being told…

I don't think the apps are really designed for people like us that can burn crazy amounts of calories in a single exercise. If we are constantly full, chances are we are getting enough food. That's my logic anyway. I don't like going into the freezer at 10pm and eating a bucket of ice cream just because I need the most…

If your trying to lose weight, i'd eat back like 50-80% of your exercise calories. If you are trying to maintain, I'd eat back 100% to keep your energy high as possible. I am actually having the same problem. Ironically made a post seconds before you did. Between biking and running, I have to eat ~3,500 calories a day and…

Thanks guys, I am going to up it to "Active" lifestyle which puts me at 3,240 calories/day and see how the next few weeks go. My guess is I am burning more calories while sitting around than I usually do since I am rebuilding muscle.

I have stated half a dozen times in the thread that I will be adjusting my calorie intake to lose weight slower, yet some people just keep going on about muscle loss and how I need to gain muscle. I've stated that I know I need to gain muscle (and even that I have plans to do so during the cold season!). If my doctor says…

I know I lost muscle, but I still can lift more than I could starting out and I am happy with that. I'll state this again: I am not trying to have a lot of muscle. I want to be lean. Many cyclist are considered underweight on BMI, and are much smaller than I currently am. Cycling doesn't require much muscle and less weight…

What are you talking about..? I had next to no muscle mass going into my weight loss and had a few checkups during my weight loss. I was Obese, so 3 pounds/week was perfectly fine. I can lift more now than I could when I weighed 260 and I couldn't bike for more than a few miles. You are also doing an awful lot of assuming,…

I will be doing a recomp/bulk as the weather changes, but right now I am trying to get rid of the small gut as much as possible in the next month or so. I've done a bunch of searching and the results are mixed. Some people claim losing 2 pounds/week all the way to goal is fine for athletes and people doing lots of exercise…

I am training for a 160 mile marathon and have a goal of 800 miles this month. We only have about 1 good month left of biking here, then it's ~6 months of cold weather. Muscle mass isn't something i'm overly concerned about, I lift about once a week currently but my main goal is still fat loss. I'll bulk in the winter when…

Thanks, that's basically what I figured. Since I ramped up biking I've lost 3 pounds this week, and I'm not trying to lose weight that fast. I eat what feels like a LOT of food due to how many calories i'm burning on these 60-80 mile daily bike rides (3000-3500 calories consumed a day). I am not sure I can eat much more…

There was a ~30 minute delay. It just showed up right as I posted. Thanks though.

About 45 pounds for me (x2). I lost 90 pounds in 8-9 months, but that was with no cheating and very strict dieting and exercise. This is faster than you really should lose. Unless you are very big, you probably wouldn't want to lose more than 30-35 pounds over 3-4 months, which is very achievable if your are overweight and…

My loop is 19 miles, and I am 160 pounds. So... 800 seems about right then!
-
Oh didn't know that, that does make it seem a little more believable. That makes sense, there's a breeze while biking so might be why I sweat less while biking than at the gym doing cardio.
-
Because I am barely sweating by the end, and I am ready to go again after an hour of rest. I think I would be more hungry if I was burning that much every day. I am rarely hungry, I eat about 1700 calories a day and i'm a 6'1" male. I think I would need to be eating about 2200-2500 if I was burning 800 calories a day…

I started eating a bit more lately and I've been at 160 for last 3 weeks. My weight has stayed the same but I lost an inch off the gut. I thought I was maintaining even earlier, but whoosh 5 pounds flew off overnight after 3 weeks of nothing (and it stayed off). I kinda expect the same to happen again but we'll see! My…

I went from 253 with a goal of 180. Hit 180 and felt my arms/legs were fine, but my gut/chest were still horrible. I am now 158 and starting to finally see what I want. The last 3 inches loss on my gut have only came with a 4 pound weight loss, I still want to lose another 2 inches. The smaller you get, the bigger…

It is crazy how different people treat me. Girls hit on me and smile at me, they take my number without second guessing, even men are much more likely to small talk with me. I actually had a girl approach ME for the first time in my life last weekend. Whenever I mention my journey over the last year, many people seem to…

I am obviously not a doctor but common sense is telling me that dieting while pregnant could cause far more harm to a baby than being Obese. You have to make a baby... That requires extra calories. You should be eating more (and healthier) food while pregnant.

I lost 92 and only have noticeable loose skin in certain positions (like pushups, sitting down, or laying on my side). 6'1" 31 years old. I reached my goal only last month, so I expect it will get even better over the next couple years. I definitely feel "squisher" than the average person though. FYI: The "how quickly you…

Weight loss isn't linear. I'd regularly have 2-3 weeks of nothing loss, then boom, overnight I'd be at my lowest by 3-4 pounds. If you start something new (especially strength training), expect not to lose any weight for a couple weeks. Your body will start keeping more water inside to repair those muscles, but you will…

I'm 31 and was overweight from age 17-25 or so, and got obese around 25+. I am now smack middle of normal BMI. I do work out, I try for daily but sometimes I get too sore. There is still fat in all my saggy parts. I don't have any thin layers of wrinkled skin like I see in loose skin videos. Ideally I need to lose another…

I am worried that if I up my calorie intake, I'll never get rid of this problematic fat that still remains around my gut and chest. I want to be lean and toned, not big and toned. I sit in a chair 12-16 hours a day when not exercising/lifting. 3250 calories would be way too much for my lifestyle, but I thought about upping…

During my weight loss (90 pounds so far), I constantly fought with myself over my target goal weight. I can say now that it's pointless to worry about this. I thought i'd need to get to 180. Boy was I wrong. I readjusted to 170, and even that was wrong. 165 will definitely be enough. Nope. I'm now 160 and still feel like I…

As a male, I lost 90 pounds in only 7-8 months on 1000-1200 calories a day (252 to 162 pounds). Obviously I don't recommend doing this for health reasons but starvation mode is definitely a myth. Metabolic adaptation is a thing, but your body is not going to stop losing weight when you are in a calorie deficit.

I lose 2-3 pounds every day after exercise. It's just water weight from sweating.
