Also, I think your framing for yoru daughter is great - that's what I tell my kids. We eat foods that nourish us so that we can be healthy and strong! Feel free to add me (though I don't know nearly as much as alot of folks around here!)

This is great! Is your daughter an adult or a kid? (I would offer different advice for the different ages) But good for you for getting serious about your health and your daughter's!

If it helps do it, absolutely. But you can also DIY a Jenny Craig diet, which might actaully be easier, cheaper and tastier. You can google "weight loss using the frozen meals" or something like that. Do some sort of frozen meal and add to it a frozen steamer veggie for bulk and extra nutrition.

Wow @Truelifefitness !!! Well done!!!

Do u have a nice bra fitting place nearby? An independent shop? Tomorrow is small business Saturday so you may catch a sale and also at least the one near me, if you don't care about color it has a great clearance section (around $20 per bra). And if you tell them you are losing weight there are some brands that are more…

Thank you!

Also it was white meat, chicken breast

Willpower is a limited resource, and you are expending ALOT of it right now. So, let's pinpoint WHEN and WHY this happens... What are the triggers? Get yourself away from the triggers and this gets easier. We live in a world FULL of food...calorie dense and delicious food. I am an evening snacker, and my snacks could…

Honestly, I recommend you reach out to other cyclists and as a group reach out to your city council. Get together a group and draft a thoughtful letter with your concerns and maybe some suggested solutions. It might just be a case of none of your city council people ride bikes in the winter so they aren't even aware and…

I see you have a daughter in the picture - she looks to be about the same age as my girls. How did you lose weight and also convey to your daughter that weight isn't what's most important? I am struggling with that now. Like, I just keep saying "I need to lose weight so I can be healthy and be around to see you guys…

dried plums. There's a tea called Smooth Moves, it's at target, online, everywhere. Both are really effective.

I bought a fancy coffee drink. It was awful. I tossed it after two sips. I thought to myself "Well, clearly, I've already wasted my money, now I'm just wasting my calories" I figured tossing it was cutting my losses.

as a PB junky myself, PB2 is my only saving grace. I put like 4 tablespoons on a toasted english muffin. Yum! It's great in smoothies too

Losing up to 1% of your body weight per week, as long as your minimum number of calories is 1,200 or above is considered safe and acceptable. Whatever weight goal you choose, you want it to be sustainable. So, look at your calorie goal with a 2 lb per week weight loss - is that a defecit you can live with? What about 1…

Podcasts!!! They have them for every sort of thing...my favorite regular ones are Moth Radio and This American Life. I also liked the 1st season of Serial, and a pod series called Dirty John and S-Town.

As I said earlier in the thread, my husband is a molecular biologist. I like to say he finished the 21st grade. Ha! Anyway, here are some topics he talked to me about that I think were really eye-opening. So...ideas for your future blog! Why Magic Food Isn't Magic - so...we non-science folk read all this stuff in general…

You can search on here and elsewhere on the web to find good substitutes for sugary lattes. I swapped my frappucino (around 400 cal) with an iced coffee with coconut milk (35 cal) There are low cal versions people make at home and lots of lists with suggested substitutes. So you wouldn't have to give it up - just swap it…

PS - I see you are not a girl, but if a girl is reading this, just know that if you workout in the morning and don't have time to shower, dry shampoo can work in a pinch

My husband is a molecular biologist, and this is exactly what he has also said all the time. (He also has very strong opinions about woo weight loss, namely that it's woo) You should do a regular blog with the real science of weight gain/loss. I told my husband he should do one called "Sexy Science Stud"...he was unamused.…

1. It is the ONLY way it gets done. After work, I'm too tired and I don't feel like going anymore. 2. It evens me out so to speak. It makes me less hungry, which maybe doesn't make sense, but if I work out first thing in the morning, I eat better food and less food throughout the day 3. I work out before anyone else in the…

clear broth soups - nothing in it, just the broth!

I had toe numbness and then I took the laces out of the very top hole and it went away *shrug* I think there's a chart out there on different ways to lace running shoes to handle certain shoe problems, some ways its tighter in different spots.
-
I would have had some protein after that instead, and some fat. Whenever I work out, even if I don't feel like it's "that hard" I get lightheaded fairly quickly without some protein and fat. And ginger cake is nearly impossible to pass up, so good for you on that!

It has happened to me before. And yes, it's miserable and hard to imagine how anyone could do this long term. But it doesn't HAVE to be this way! I checked out your diary - it looks like you started on Monday, yes? A couple of things (I'm new to these boards, too!) 1. Are you set at the right calorie level overall? Could…

Have you seen this cookbook? Good eats on the cheap! http://www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2014/08/01/337141837/cheap-eats-cookbook-shows-how-to-eat-well-on-a-food-stamp-budget Also: Dried beans: open bag, rinse, soak overnight. Next day: Do whatever you want with them, warmed up with sauce, or, the way I like them is with…

Idk your weight but I would be very reluctant to use a trampoline if I were very overweight. It can be hard on your joints. Do you have an exercise program you follow currently? Walking is a great start or a jazzercise/zumba class. Thwre are also good "30 day plans" online where you start with, say, 20 squats and work up…
