Orange juice and Oreos. Better than milk!

Hi! Your heart rate you can get from your phone (or fitbit type device). I've found the heart rate apps that use the flash on your phone can be pretty accurate. As for the calories you burn while resting, that's called your BMR or Basal Metabolic Rate. There's calculators all over the Internet for looking that up.

I second WalMart. If you're there to exercise why spend the extra money? The exception to this for me is shoes. I NEED good comfy shoes to exercise in!

Think of calories like money. You start each day with about 15k calories to spend. You can choose to spend them on breakfast (3 large eggs, 1.5 potato (hashbrowns), sausage or milk) or you can eat a Snickers. If you stick religiously to your calorie limit your body will quickly tell you what you can get away with and what…

Totally sounds familiar. I was at 280 on 2-29-2017 when I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and said to myself "screw that!". I'm 213 (as of this AM) and trying to figure out how to exercise in the gym without hurting myself. Let's do this thing!

My family calls me Sheldon as in that guy from the Big Bang Theory. Apparently being a computer guy and reading all the time makes you nerdy.

For a brief period in middle school, you could get unlimited free cheese refills with your nachos! I remember eating nacho cheese with a spoon. Bliss as a kid, horror of horrors now as an adult.

I've found the calorie tracking is better to be used as an overall guide rather than an absolute measurement. Reality is what counts, so don't stress if you don't get credit on the tracker. Your body (reality) is what matters and will reflect your exercise.

Salads are a go-to for me. Bacon ranch (100 calories for 2 Tbsp) cut with Herdez avocado salsa (120 calories for 4 Tbsp) will season up a huge salad with tomatoes and onions for pretty close to 200 calories and it tastes good too! I've also found that seasoned taco meat (90/10) on a Romaine lettuce leaf or two makes for…

I got a pair of those ones that plug in your ears with the rubber tip, but one fell out while I was riding my bike. So I got the ones that go in your ear and twist to lock, but they fall out too. Finally got some with ear hooks and a wire connecting them and they work fine. Sadly, not much bass and they pass wind noise…

Cooking up a turkey dinner, gonna organize the garage and finish wrapping presents. I hate wrapping presents, and they hate being wrapped by me. I guess it's fair that way.

I'd say own it. You're the one in control of your actions. Good or bad, it's a learning experience either way and weight management is not a short term endeavor. Just keep in mind Vingogly's awesome post above about calories -> fat. Once probably won't hurt anything (says the guy who ate a 12 oz. NY steak and two…

I'm slavishly sticking to a diet of 2,000 calories per day. I eat whatever I want, but it has to add up to 2k calories. It's amazing how many "bad" things for me to eat don't fit anymore. Anyway, I've found myself looking at everything and saying "is this worth it?". That one glass of wine is worth two eggs, 1.5 pieces of…

"gross marshmallow yams"... But... but... Ok, so you buy the yams and nuke 'em 'till they're soft. Scoop the guts into a big food processor. Add butter, brown sugar, touch of cinnamon and buttermilk / milk. Grind 'till it's how you want it. Only eat GOOD calories!

Anyone familiar with Blaze pizza?

I'm sore today. Took my breakfast to eat out back and sat through a sun baked plastic chair. Landed on a concrete pad. Hard on the back!

Jail food? Weightloss opportunity! I don't think weightloss is actually a word but I'm trying to be optimistic here.

Lots of gyms have minimums (like one year) on their membership. I even got in one where they outright repeatedly lied that they didn't but had it buried in the pages of small print in their contract. Also, if you're not in shape (like me, I'm not) a gym may be overkill. They are designed for people who can pump iron, not…

Hi! I started at about 275 (maybe a couple more) and am now down to 242. I'd be happy to talk about this stuff if you want someone to vent at. Do you like to cook?

Hi! My breakfast go-to is 3 sunny side up eggs and hashbrowns (from one potato + cheese grater) and about 1 tsp. butter. 364 calories. For lunch do a salad with one heart of romaine, one tomato, a handful of croutons and equal parts bacon ranch dressing (2Tbsp=100 calories vs. plain ranch where 2Tbsp=140calories) and…
