I’m not saying it bothers me, I really just wanted to know why weight training can’t be considered cardio exercise. I know cardio is necessary, but I was hoping what I was already doing was enough to hit two birds with one stone, so to speak.

Excellent points!!

Good thing I’m not interested in running a marathon, I suppose.

Which I do do. My original question only asked why weightlifting cant be considered a form of cardio.

I like picking things up and putting them back down again! I do like hiking, however paddling is not an option for me. Also, I live in a place where the summer time is super short and the winter is extremely long so I’m pretty much relegated to the offerings at the gym for the great majority of my workout sessions. I do…

Thank you everyone for your input. I find these message boards a bit confusing to use from your phone - I can’t see how to reply to specific people?

No, I don’t find it boring. I’m talking about traditional modes of cardio exercise. If I could play volleyball everyday I would!

What does TDEE and NEAT stand for?

Thanks for the info! I will pay more attention to my heart rate next time I’m in the gym!

One of the greatest skills in life is learning how to say “no”. If your truthful about why you prefer to work out alone, then I don’t see how anyone could be offended by that.

I just quit WW. I’ve finally realized that their program doesn’t work for me because I simply don’t believe in it. Saying that certain foods are “free” (aka pretty much everything) might work for people who don’t understand nutrition and healthy eating, but it’s pointless for people like me who’s main problem is volume and…

Thank you everyone!!

Ok so what types of jobs would one need to have to be considered active? Or, how much “activity” do I need to include each day to get out of the sedentary zone? I can’t really do much about my desk job, but does going to the gym every day do nothing to increase the activity level?

Yeah, I second what the guy above me said. You an cook the whole batch now, and then eat one, keep three in the fridge, and then re-freeze the now-cooked chicken. It's fine to "re"freeze once after cooking. Then on the fourth day, you can defrost the two breasts that you had frozen. Et voila. For leftovers, I typically…

Lolol!!! I only realized that my leggings were not squat proof after I played a season of coed volleyball with my boyfriend lol. I only wear Old Navy or Denver Hayes from Mark’s. Sooo...

PS, although you mentioned you live in a small town, there may be social sports leagues you could join to meet people. It can be really fun to play recreationally with co-ed teams of all ages (adults, obv), maybe give it a try!

It can definitely be tricky to find someone who's habits match up with yours. I don't think they necessarily need to be a perfect match, but to find someone who has similar goals and aspirations as you is key. My boyfriend and I met online but neither of us used this as a criteria in our "search". However, as our…

I tried hitting "join" but I don't think the link is working... Let me in!! LOL. Soon to be 31 y/o woman, currently 213.5 and 5'4". Current goal weight is 175. Last summer I had been enjoying myself at 194 but then I just ... stopped? Not really sure what happened but I need to get back on the train and get motivated! I…

I’ve had multiple “enough is enough” moments. My current one stems from seeing picture of my puffy face and realizing it’s starting to look like “fat Me” again lol. I’ve always been over weight but when I start seeing it in my face that’s how I really know things are out of control. I have an amazing boyfriend who loves me…
