Yay! Nice - glad you had fun! That’s a big accomplishment!

St. Pats isn’t really as big of a deal where I live in San Diego (even though my husband comes from. Big Irish Catholic family) - I always make the Irish boiled dinner and have soda bread. I just realized I’ll miss all the hoopla in Chicago - I fly in for a meeting the next day! My biggest concerns in terms of keeping up…

Since joining this thread last Dec. it’s been such a good change. I was feeling depressed about not being about to change, and feeling like a failure. A dry Jan and a wet feb (but lots of dry days and more in control) has made a big difference. Drinking wine was routine, now it’s more part of a social part of my life, but…

No drinks last night but I did cave and have two glasses on weds. Overall I have been drinking more than I planned for the month (primarily due to many family members having birthdays and some mid week date nights that were also not planned) however I’m trying to stay positive. I’ve had 10 AF days this month and on…

That sounds like a no-jito- yum!

Have you been working out more? If yes, it’s water weight. Try drinking a lot of water and see if it helps! I had the same thing in Jan. But then ended up dropping 4 pounds.

Day two AF this week, keeping up the AF mid week is my goal. It’s not “hard” but when I cook I always feel like having wine. I love how I feel however. Now that I have Dry Jan under my belt and more moderate drinking in Feb I can really see the mood effects after drinking. I don’t even drink that much and the next day I’ve…

@kittybenn I have the same goal

Ha! Yes I love the “perservered” we drank “Boone’s” strawberry something in high school. It was so gross. I am not a cocktail person except for a good mojito or margarita. I realized gin, vodka etc taste terrible to me and I can’t stand whiskey. I guess that’s a good thing. But I do like wine. And I know the books say that…

Looking forward to a dry week. With birthday parties and the long weekend I strung together too many consecutive drinking days. I didn’t overindulge at all, but definitely need more dry days! Here’s to accountability

It’s funny my parents and their friends growing up never drank alcohol - but they had so much fun. Game nights and family bbqs and sports, camping and picnics. They would stay out late totally booze free. It’s too bad that drinking is so synonymous with “fun” but it doesn’t have to be. I want to make my life more “fun”…

Until I did Dry Jan my husband was much much better at doing AF nights throughout the week. Now I think I’m beating him ;) but overall I was the more frequent drinker and he drinks beer which has a lower percentage so my two-three glasses of wine were always more than his beer.

I watched this video Ted talk last night on “gray area” drinking - it’s nothing groundbreaking but she talks about nourishing our neurotransmitters. Here’s the link https://youtu.be/wvCMZBA7RiA

My triggers are definitely cooking (but dry Jan really helped revise that habit!) and FOMO - like not wanting to miss out on socializing. But anxiety is also a trigger. I am working on that one and it’s been helpful to find new ways to relax without numbing out.

I have the Alta HR and hate it. I can’t get it to acturately track my steps (even changing step stride) and I sweat a lot when I work out and it stops monitoring my heart rate at times when I feel like I’m at peak pace. I guess I was hoping for more when I got it. I wish I would have gotten an Apple Watch instead.

I have had so many thoughts about what to do. I loved doing dry January. On the one hand I don’t want to totally eliminate wine from my life but on the other hand I am still figuring out whether it’s worth it! I love a glass of wine, but I too sometimes drink more than I intend and then I feel so down on myself. Also,…

No wine tonight and so happy - I ended up having a few glasses of wine last night with friiends over for dinner and had really bad anxiety and felt down all day and I really think the wine was the problem! I’m gratefully drinking water and relaxing tonight.

I have used headspace for about a year and a half. It’s been sporadic lately but it was a life changer when I needed to create some calm in my head during a season of intense anxiety and racing thoughts. Totally recommend!

Congrats your one beer didn’t turn into three!

I think it’s common - especially if alcohol was used right before bed as a nightcap. I recommend chelated magnesium, and melatonin. Also make sure you go to bed and get up at the same time, it helps your body know when is time for sleep and don’t nap. I’m positive it will get better. I do drink tea before bed sometimes the…

Thanks - yes you’re totally right. I got home and was so glad I was pretty much sober after just the one drink. Had fun and never missed that second glass.

Morning all! I went to a fundraiser event last night - as part of the event we had two drink tickets. The wine was sponsored by a local winery and is amazing. I had a glass and it was great, I went to use my second ticket and got sidetracked by several people I stopped and chatted with. After 30 minutes of talking I…

Dude. I drank two glasses of wine last night and have fuzzy headache today. Tolerance down - wine is not as glamorous as I remember

Brought a really good bottle of wine to my moms birthday party - drank two glasses over a few hours and had another glass poured but realized I didn’t want it and poured it back and my brother drank it :) I don’t think the old me would have hesistated to drink that extra glass. Yay

Pretty successful dry Monday, Tuesday, Thursday. One unplanned night with two glasses of wine but it was an impromptu and needed date night. I absolutely love not being a daily drinker. I think I’m ok with moderating. This thread helps a ton!! This weekend I’m having wine at my moms birthday party but limiting to two…

It’s been a long time- do you know about how many drinks it takes to give you a blackout? Two drinks is my happy place too. In terms of books it’s not an alcohol book but it did change my mindset and help me tremendously with anxiety — I loved Practicing the Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle - it feeds well into all of this…

I’m still using the app Dry January to try my intake and keep me honest ha! I am trying to stay under the recommended 14 units a week which is like 6 glasses of wine or less a week. This helps. Also it’s fun to see the money and calories saved!

Went to a new bible study w some moms I met through my kids school - I was thinking weds will be great, and alcohol free. Nope they broke out the wine lol. I didn’t have any but it was pretty funny. And pretty much all the women there (late 30s early 40s) I think are pretty regular drinkers - probably not heavy but…

Yes! The example for my small kids is like my number one driver. When your kids ask you if you need wine at the store when there is none in your cart, I think theirs a problem. I don’t want them to remember me with a glass of wine in my hand every evening. Sure, occasionally is ok, but I want them to see me as a sparkling…
