Day 25 for me! Going by quickly now!!!
-
Making new healthy habits is probably my favorite benefit from this month. Last night I woke up and was thinking about wine and how it doesn’t even sound good anymore. Crazy!
-
Can’t believe it! I am so happy I did this month with you all- I am in this (moderating) for the long haul so I definitely plan on being on the board February and beyond

Good luck Julie! You’ll be great! Your resolve is strong and I bet you learn that you have fun sober and you’ll be the one feeling awesome every morning!! Do you like coffee? I know it’s not a substitute for wine, but getting an amazing flat white, or special coffee in the morning could be a great treat. Try and keep…

I’ve lost a little weight but have been exercising like crazy! Honestly given the calories saved I really thought I would drop more weight. But, the other benefits like better sleep and great skin have been worth it!

Ugh mole removal surgery went bad- sutures infected and I can’t walk let alone run or work out. Feel like a lump on a log. But hey at least I’m not drinking!!
-
Can’t believe the month is already almost over! I am so proud of everyon on this challenge group. I get motivated by everyone and I’ve been inspired. This is the longest dry period I’ve had since my daughter was born 5 years ago! I have found out so much about myself and why I drink and feel like I have a healthier…

Yeah I think that’s normal. I had a headache the first week I stopped drinking and a few restless nights of sleep but now I am sleeping better and longer than ever (unless my 5 year old crawls in bed w me and smacks me in the face at 4 am like last night) :#

Start Weight: 147 Challenge Goal Weight: 137 Weigh-in #1: 146.1 Weigh-in #2: 145.3 Weigh in #3: 145.8 A positive thought I had this week was: I’m not losing a lot of weight but I have been working out a ton and took a before pic on Jan 1 and I can see a huge difference in my body- definition and muscle. A healthy…

Sometimes I think it takes these nights to improve our resolve. Hope today is so much better!

I’m loving this app. It also says I’ve saved $141 dollars which is pretty eye opening. Imagine if I put that away every month - I could go on an amazing vacation!
-
Good for you @dkabambe it’s not easy holding up to pressure. I was at a party all day today too lots of good beer and wine. But stayed strong! 11 more days and perhaps beyond for me!

I’m in the stage of life where for a long time if I didn’t drink at an event people assumed I was pregnant! At least now that we made it “official” that we’re done people have just given me weird looks like “why would you do dry January?” To Julie’s point with her friend, I think we normalize drinking when we are with…

Oh man I ate terribly today and some of the week. The good news is that I worked out a ton. But my weigh in isn’t going to be good :s

Congrats to all who accomplished their goals this weekend. I had a football party at my house today and the beer and wine were flowing. I admit a glass of wine sounded fun, but I saved the calories for a oven baked cookie and Imice cream. My mom who is doing dry January with me (though she really doesn’t drink much) was…

When I started this challenge I thought it would be a big struggle the whole length of the month, but it’s been the opposite. Im on day 19 and couldn’t be happier with sobriety! Not that I won’t have a glass of wine in Feb, but I really am enjoying the freedom from the choice to drink or not.
-
You’re doing really well- lots of days not drinking! Breaking habits are hard!
-
That would be sooo hard. Good for you for staying strong! My hubby is drinking too but he’s definitely not drinking as much. And luckily he likes beer which doesn’t tempt me as much.
-
Went to dinner party w people I don’t know. Wine was flowing and looked tempting but I didn’t have any. I still had fun :)
-
Day 18 for me - went to a dinner party with people I don’t really know. Wine would have been a nice crutch but I stuck to water and still had fun!
-
Sparkling water w lime, tea, coffee

So true. You learn a lot about yourself when you don’t self medicate. In moments of anxiety this month I’ve been trying to treat it like an opportunity to have a healthier way of coping. Honestly, I feel more upbeat overall without wine. I am really conflicted about what to do in February. On the one hand I miss wine, on…

Day 17 for me in the books- my husband cracked open an IPA and it looked mighty tasty but I stuck to my sparkling water :)

Day 17 for me and I haven’t thought about wine in the evening the last two nights. I have also noticed that I don’t get hot at night anymore! I used to sweat and I wonder if it’s the fact that alcohol increases estrogen (which is why I think it’s a leading cause of breast cancer) - ahh I look forward to having a glass of…

I’m in for February too. I’m planning for major moderation and after the ease of going dry this month I think I’ll need all the support I can get!
-
Yay day 15 for me
-
I’m excited - ordered a Fitbit Alta. Excited to have accurate calorie burn info!
-
I totally worry about becoming someone who like goes off the deep end and becomes an alcoholic (but I tend to worry about all kinds of terrible outcomes and illnesses) I guess this is why in the Naked Mind she talks about how personal it is for everyone. What they can handle. I personally hate being drunk. I think it feels…

Really interesting! I had heard of it but that was a pretty interesting TED talk.
-
My hubby too! We live in San Diego which is craft beer heaven. Luckily I’m like you - I like it but can take or leave it. I noticed my skin looks so great today without makeup. Makes me want to keep up the dry come February. I admit I will enjoy the option of wine for special occasions once feb hits! I’m going out to…
