I'm a teacher. I was telling a class of teens than we didn't have mobile phones when I has at high school, and one of them told me: No way! You can't be THAT old!

The so-called Mediterranean diet is an invention. In fact, people around the Mediterranean sea eat very, very different diets... I'm Spanish, and Spanish food has very little to do with Greek or Egyptian food, just to set an example.

Keep it up! Do it for yourself, they have to be real sad individuals if they have to criticise you to feel better. I love zumba classes. Unfortunately, I'm uncoordinated, have no sense of rhythm and seem unable to remember a full choreography. When I started at my current gym, I was by far the largest in the class (and the…

Have you lost a lot of weight? I lost nearly 20 kg, and my mattress was too hard for the lighter me. It took a while to realise what the problem was, I just had problems falling asleep, woke up lots of times, was uncomfortable... The solution was a topper, I bought one from ikea and now sleep like a baby.

The Apple watch is really sturdy. I have a series 4; a car hit me while I was cycling - I went flying and landed on my apple watch (fortunately, I just got a few bruises). The point is, the edge of the apple watch got some scratches from the asphalt, nothing more. It kept working perfectly, and wanting to call the…

I don't have children, but I teach secondary school. Practically all my pupils (11 to 18) are taller than me. I was asked once whether I found it intimidating... No, I don't. Kids are kids, and you earn their respect (or not) not because of the way you look, but because of how you treat them and how you act in class. In…

We are in lockdown. I'm a teacher, and in theory, we had this week off. No way, we have been asked to organise online learning (on a new platform we don't know how to use) so that children don't "miss out" on school work. Everything has to be ready before Monday, so I'm working like crazy, trying to understand the platform…

In Portugal they are "in alert": schools, theatres, cinemas, museums, discos... closed. Restaurants and malls limit the people inside, cruise passengers can't leave the boat. People are encouraged to telework as much as possible, and many people won't go to work to look after the children. People have been advised to be…

I'm in Spain. We are officially in lockdown for 14 days, starting today.

I'm reading El lector de Julio Verne, by Almudena Grandes. It's part of Episodios de una guerra interminable (Episodes of a never-ending war), which is a superb series about how the people who lost the Spanish Civil War managed to survive (and live) during the post-war years and the dictatorship.

Thanks for your help, she has a fitbit but the thing is not recognised by her Xiaomi mobile... I'll try to get it to work again, following the instructions someone posted in the fitbit forum, if it doesn't work I'll look into garmin devices. Of course I will connect it for her, setting every technological device up for my…

Thanks a lot, if that is the case it would not be useful for her.

Some lowlife stole my pencil case and water bottle at work. Why would you still a cheap pencil case with half-used pens and half a rubber? Not to mention a water bottle... (I just hope some of the virus I got last week is still in the bottle and whoever it was catches it - preferably during the weekend)

Thanks for the recommendation, they look interesting

The Testaments, by Margaret Atwood. It's the sequel of The Handmaid's Tale. I've just started it today and, so far, it's really, really good.

Right now, Dany doesn't have an army -both the dothraki and the unsullied were wiped out. She "just" has dragons. Jon, on the other hand, has what remains of the North behind him (and most of them consider Danaerys just a foreign invader). It will be amusing to see her demand people to bend their knee... or else. Will she…

One of my co-workers (who is always on a diet or another) has the theory that whatever you eat out of your home doesn't count. For some mysterious reason, her diets never work... and she swears it's because she still hasn't found THE diet which agrees with her. Nothing to do with the giant chocolate pastries from the…

I have a 90 minute commute (each way) because I choose to use public transport and walking. It would be less (about an hour) using my car, but it would be far more expensive and stressing. As it is, I use the time to read or, quite often, to chat with my coworkers (we all get on the same train). I would prefer to work…

I lost 27 kg (about 59 pounds) in a year. Now I'm in the first stages of maintenance.

Zumba and cardio kickboxing. I've recently started barre workouts at home, and I also like them.

I was waiting for the train when I had this weird feeling that "someone was watching me". I looked around and saw that it was a former pupil -a very nice boy who I taught for three years and with whom I've always had a good relationship. So, I came up to him and told him "what's up, are you not saying hello any more?" The…

I have it as well, no matter the size. It's part of me, I just don't pay any attention to it, because I know I can't change it.

What activity level did you set? MFT only gives calories for steps when you go above the steps/calories for your activity level .
-
It's possible, but it will take time. I've lost 27 in 14 months, and I'm wondering whether to stop losing and maintain or lose 2-3 more and make it a nice, round number. Either way, now I'm in the healthy range.

So sorry for your loss. In my case, first I found some classes I enjoyed; then I scheduled them in my calendar and set alarms for them, so that they are things I have to do, not something negotiable. I can only not go if there is another appointment at the same time.

Nondominant for me, because I am a teacher and when I tried to wear it on my dominant hand it kept counting the hand movements (especially when writing on the blackboard) as steps.

Do you REALLY need to collect your stuff? I would just replace everything (if possible at all) and cut all contact. Immediately. It may seem hard now, but it'll be better in the long run.

Chewing gum. Then you have something in your mouth, it tasted good and -assuming it's sugar free- the calories are negligible.
