"Who Are You?" by The Who. Gets me all fired up!

Depression and stress, but mostly depression. I was dealing with very difficult circumstances in my life that I didn't know how to properly handle and as a result, I used to food as a coping mechanism to self-medicate. I ballooned up to 355 pounds. Denial isn't just a river in Egypt, and I knew I'd have to confront the…

You make a good point.

Fyi, there's a fine line between criticism and harassment. If this happens regularly, especially with repeat offenders, it's harassment- report them to the front desk. Make note of the time, place and what happened- especially if it interferes with your workout in any way.

Hi Grace! I'm sorry to hear you were bullied at the gym. I actually found this posting because I too, just got bullied. Last night at Planet Fitness, they were giving away free pizza like they always do every 1st Monday of the month. I've been craving pizza for a week solid and decided to treat myself to a slice. So on my…

I agree. May we all be blessed with that kind of bravery! It's not easy.

Feel free to add me. The more friends/support system, the better! You can do it! "get fit don't quit!"

Story of my whole life right now. I'm also 50 pounds away from my goal weight, which would come off sooner if I wasn't such a freakin' foodie!

Happy 97th birthday, Betty White! <3

The funniest thing I have seen in the gym was me- too bad it wasn't recorded, I probably could have sent it into America's Funniest Home Videos and won. During my usual workout at the gym, I noticed a few people on the assisted lift pull-up machine and decided to try it myself. I thought I had it right, grab the bars,…

If my grandmother keeps up her nonsense, it WILL be her last Christmas! Lol.

I've always wondered- what's it like working as a chef and cooking food for a living?

Thank you for sharing this! Great info in the original post, will be sharing with some friends who are looking to lose weight.

Oh my gosh, Yes! This is definitely me! This is probably the hardest time of year for me to try to lose any weight because sugar is EVERYWHERE. Last night at my part time job was the worst in terms of "food"- I use that term loosely here, because I don't believe sugar-filled treats are truly food. I have the worst sweet…

I wish I knew how difficult caregiving would be prior to moving in with my grandparents to help them. I wish I had more patience to deal with caregiving. I wish I had ONE full time job that pays me more so that I wouldn't need the second part time job. I wish my grandmother wasn't so negative and depressed all the time,…

When I first started exercising, I developed plantar fascitis in my left foot. Yoga really helped me, it knocked it right out. This is the YouTube beginner yoga video I used that got rid of the pain: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7AYKMP6rOE&index=3&list=PLOLgA0jyURof29Bx5TDerEe0YdaC2GgmR&t=569s About roughly ten minutes…

Thanks for telling me about Chilly Cow. It sounds delicious, I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

Doing fantastic, everyone! I love it! You are all so inspiring, keep up the great work!

Awesome work! Way to go!

Amazing work! Very inspiring! :o B)

Occasionally I'll do that (exercise twice a day). Once on my lunch break and once at night at the gym. Both cardio. There's nothing wrong with working out twice a day so long as you don't overdo it and end up injuring yourself. It depends on one's physical ability.

Don't worry, Bee. It happens. The key is not to beat yourself up over it. Allow yourself to enjoy the holiday and just do the best you can. Get right back on track the next meal, and keep at it. This is a hard time of year to try to lose weight because food is everywhere, but just do your best in the interim. Once the…

By the way, happy birthday Pedro!

Use your circumstances as a mental exercise in reverse psychology: when someone tells you not to do something, or you can't, do it anyway just to spite them and show them. That's one way to turn the tables on this situation.

Oh Pedro! I hear ya! Boy do I hear ya. It's a similar situation over here- I take care of my elderly grandmother and all my life she's wanted me to lose weight. Well, now that I'm finally making the effort, she's done a complete 180. Now she's all "Maybe skip the gym tonight" (which she says almost every single evening…

It's tough this time of year to try and stick to our guns. I'm throwing a small holiday party for my friends this weekend and trying to keep as many healthy options on the table as I can. Things like whole grain tortillas, veggie/fruit platter, salad, and I'm thinking of making a whole grain baked ziti. As a hostess, it's…
