  • I am around 23:45 for a 5K. Looking to get below 23:00. I have heard and have been training using fartleks. That seems to be making an improvement. I need help with my form- videos show I lean back when I run. I’d love to hear what helps others move closer to the 7:00/mile pace.
  • Not nearly as odd as some of the others mentioned but I like avocado with my cap read salad: fresh mozzarella, tomato, avocado, balsamic glaze, salt and pepper.
  • I run at 184-190 steps per minute and run between 7:30 and 8:30 miles. I ran with a friend the other day and slowed to 9:30 for her to be comfortable and my app tracked 177/min. Over 68 runs for the year, 177/min was the lowest, 192 was the highest.
  • Peach flavored Cheerios
  • When people comment about what I eat or drink in a negative way, I respond with snarkiness now. While out to a working dinner a few weeks ago, I ordered both a salad and soup along with my entree, and a male coworker said I don’t need that much food. I replied I had run 10 miles earlier in the day and I’d invite him to go…
  • I hate fresh garlic, jarred garlic, garlic powder so I never EVER use it.
  • Salt, pepper, crushed red pepper, and parsley for color.
  • I always eat by week vs by day.
  • French fries with the exception of McDonald’s when they are hot, fresh, and crispy.
  • I eat them often and see no problem with them. I enjoy Stouffer’s meals for the most part and buy frozen breakfast burritos to take with me when I travel for work. As a runner, I need quite a bit of sodium in my diet. No kids and my other half travels for work too so most nights I am alone in a hotel or alone at home. I…
  • To add, when I have had it set to sedentary, I can see adjustments of 600-1400, most days are in the 800-1000 range though. Which for my weight, age, sex, height tells me I burn about 2600/day to maintain. If I had to guess without the gadgets, I'd say that's about right for what I eat and maintain on. Even small amounts…
  • I have mine set to very active lifestyle and still see added adjustments of 100-500 some days. But I am a very active person- earning about 20K steps per day. I eat within 250 of what it tells me to eat and I have no issues. I have had a Fitbit for over 3 years now- this specific device for 11 months so it seems to have…
  • I travel a lot for work so sometimes I eat dinner at 4pm if I have an early go the next morning, or sometimes I eat at 10pm if I get home late. But when I am home, I like to eat at 7 or 7:30 so I can watch Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. My other half travels for work as well so that is my one TV treat when I am home alone…
  • I have Invisalign and find it very difficult to eat while I work (Flight Attendant) because it’s necessary to brush, floss, and clean the aligners. Doing that in an airplane bathroom is disgusting. So many times I go 12-15 hours without eating. It’s absolutely awful and I get cranky, especially when my breakfast isn’t a…
  • Your kitty cat is very pretty by the way.
  • I've used Runtastic Pro for about 6 years now. I like the screen and the audio feedback gives me info every .5 miles. You can change the units to KMs. But like others have said, it gives me about 100 calories per mile- at 125lbs, I assume 80 calories per mile is a better estimate.
  • I run about 35mpw over 5 days. My job keeps me on my feet moving around a lot. The days I don’t run, I still either ride my bike or walk. I am awful about doing any strength training nor do I do yoga. I don’t know how to get myself started with that.
  • I took two Tylenol this morning and was on my feet all day with no pain after the Tylenol. Including a 3.5M treadmill run, I have 19K steps for the day. I did feel discomfort this morning before the Tylenol while I was making breakfast.
  • Thanks. I had to run an errand today and noticed that every 10 minutes or so I would get pain for about 15 seconds and then it would go fade as quickly as it appeared. I did ice it for about 20 minutes earlier.
  • I don’t get cream cheese or anything tempura and usually estimate 350 for a tuna or salmon avocado roll and about 450 for something like a rainbow roll or caterpillar roll (or similar). I eat it with some miso soup and seaweed salad. I estimate usually 50 for the soup. Seaweed salad, about 250 depending on how big it is.…
  • I do my long runs on Friday to have the extra calories. Usually don’t eat them all on Friday but starving on Saturday. I try to look at the bigger picture of “weekly” calories bs daily.
  • Sorry for the delay in my reply, I need to recheck my notifications. I currently run starting on Sundays: 7 easy /5 easy/7 easy/0/7 pace/12 slow and long/0. That running schedule fits my work schedule and leaves me with lots of calories to enjoy on Friday night. My first 7/5/7 have all been easy runs, my Thursday 7 miler…
  • Of course I know I burn more calories running 1 mile than walking 1 mile. I never log anything in MFP exercise wise with the exception of biking and swimming and I log the time to the second. So my question still remains: MFP says I traveled 15K steps. How does it know whether l am walking those steps which earn about 40…
  • Depends on whether I am traveling or not (one the road 15 days a month). When home, I eat about 400-500 for breakfast, a small lunch when I get back from my exercising (running or biking), and then the rest for dinner and a small treat, usually cereal or fruit for dessert. So probably 500/200/800/200. I maintain on 2300…
  • Fitbit aside I ate 3204 less than I burned. I was down exactly 1 pound from last Sunday so it’s working exactly as it should. Also means my intake is on par too I guess.
  • I also wonder about this. Example, I walk 1 mile for 2,000 steps and using the above calculation, (125lbs*.3) is 37.5 calories per mile walked. When I run 1 mile at about 1,700 steps, I burn approx (125lbs *.75) 93 calories per mile ran. But how does MFP adjust for miles ran vs miles walked? 10,000 steps walked for me is 5…
  • I had no idea you could freeze eggs either. Thanks for the tip!
  • I love Nutella so much I can't have it in the house because I lose control.
  • Follow up question on this post: Will the FitBit food journal sync back to MFP? My MFP food entries show up on my Fitbit in the form of calories but I too am interested in the FitBit food journal instead of using MFP.
