  • Exactly this! Super advice! I took note of my TDEE (and regularly check to readjust as I lose) and know that if I need to, I can go up to that but no more. Makes days where food prep etc is completely out of my control (eating out/visiting family etc), a lot easier to handle.
  • Plus, as you reduce your weekly loss, you get closer and closer to maintenance. Say you’ve got that last 15 lbs to lose and you have a 250 cal per day deficit (0.5lb per week), you’re practicing eating at almost maintenance. Once you reach goal, you add that 250cal back and you should be good! Makes it less of a shock and…
  • I eat anything and everything. Currently chowing down 274 calories of white chocolate as I type (to illustrate my point)! If it fits my calories, I don’t even hesitate. I’ve lost 50lb so far.
  • Hi! Good luck!
  • That’s it, isn’t it!? I didn’t realise how much a slow jog for half an hour would make in terms of weight loss! I’ve been sitting at a very steady slow loss in recent weeks, but I’ve found a very agreeable drop on the scales the morning after each run!
  • Yeah! I recommend the C25k to get you started. I started just a month ago with a friend. We completed the three runs of week one together, then she went on holiday so, left to my own devices, I went out for a solo run and ignored the app (just to see how far I could run). The first time I ran almost half a mile solid!…
  • Diet Coke has 12.96mg of caffeine per 100ml. A tea bag has 11mg of caffeine. You say you were drinking 4 litres of Diet Coke per day? That’s 518mg of caffeine. Daily. You’d have to have 47 tea bags a day to match that caffeine intake (can someone check my maths, brain not operating today). You’ve got some serious caffeine…
  • Perhaps you can “bank” some calories over the weekdays to use on weekends? Cut 100 off per day (or more if you’re comfortable) and you’ll have 500 extra (250 per day) for the weekend (or more)? How much do you relax over the weekend? What’s your typical calorie intake over weekdays versus weekends?

  • I’m a chocoholic. I feel moody and deprived if I don’t get a decent helping daily. Keep thinking of that cat sitting in a box meme - “if it fits, I sits”. Same goes for treats. If you can fit them into your calorie allowance then go right ahead. Can you make small healthy changes to your meals? For example, I’ve eaten…
  • I have no booty! I’m straight as a rod side on (I don’t have much in the boob department either). Once I’ve lost the last 20-30lbs I’ll be most likely be of “athletic build”. That suits me fine, but I’ll look at these suggestions to see about building just a little something there otherwise my trousers will be baggy in the…
  • 28lb. Set it to 1lb a week loss
  • Amazing!! Well done mama!
  • My weight loss began rapidly, 3lbs + per week for the first month or so, then gradually slowed. Overall, I find I gain and lose the same 1-2lbs for a week or two and then lose 3-4 in a sudden whoosh, then slow down (0.5-1lb per week) over two weeks until I hit the standstill and repeat.
  • I hope everyone gets to the point where, if it fits the calorie goal, it can be eaten, guilt free. It’s very liberating. I’m only focused on calories. I eat cake, I eat chocolate practically every evening (and not just a square or two), but I make sure it fits my goal and will sacrifice it if I’m particularly hungry…
  • Water weight creates a little muffin top that isn’t there usually for me.
  • I’m in the squishy fat phase that AnnPT77 speaks of. I’ve lost almost 50lb and my arms are the last to get the memo. The skin does hang but it’s still got a lot of fat under it to weigh it down. BUT in the past month or so, I have noticed an improvement. I can see my bicep moving under my skin now, and they have suddenly…
  • According to fitbit I burn 17 calories every 15 minutes while asleep. 17x4 = 68, 68x24 = 1632. That’s my BMR (how much I burn daily before adding any activity whatsoever). Apparently. :)
  • Go somewhere where you see people (the beach/swimming pool etc) and be conscious of your own attitudes and thoughts when you look around you. Say you see someone with a bit of a roll and some impressive stretch marks. Do you mentally recoil in disgust? Or do you not really think much of it? You see someone enjoying…
  • Same here! Keep a few spare just in case. :)
  • My jeans getting tight, being unable to conceal the muffin top, and having to buy a dress for a wedding in a UK size 20. The photos from that wedding really shook me into action.
  • Ive always had a dramatic size difference between my boobs anyway. At my largest I was rocking a D cup one side and a small B the other. Losing weight (I’ve lost 45+ lb now) and in a way they have sort of evened out a bit. I think when I’ve reached goal (another 28lb) I’ll look into augmentation - either reduction to match…
  • I try to keep mine below 2000mg. I really notice a huge fluctuation on the scale after too much sodium, not to mention the bloat (insta-muffintop!).
  • Mine has never prompted me, but go into your goals, select a different activity level, save it, then go back and set it back to where you want it, save it, and voila, new calorie goal. I’m sure there’s a proper way to do it, and I tend to complicate things unnecessarily but this works for me!
  • Ditto. And my desire to lose weight is far greater than my desire for haribo or cheesy wotsits. I make room for chocolate in my daily allowance and have that in the evening when kids are in bed. :)
  • I eat a late breakfast (10am+) and skip lunch, have an earlyish dinner (4pm+) and a snack in the evening. Much easier to stick to calorie allowance that way and I don’t miss that meal at all.
  • My mother is the same! I make sure I’m in the kitchen now, and am slowly taking over the cooking so she can play with my kids when we visit. At least that way, I can still log reasonably accurately, and make dinner suggestions that are perhaps a little less calorie dense than they would otherwise be. Perhaps see if you can…
  • Depends on the cut of the trousers etc. I started off at 228 in UK 18-20, I’m now 182 and can wear some of my 18’s, 16 are my go to, and can wear a high waisted 14 (all UK sizes). I’ve lost a lot more off my top half up to my belly button than I have around my lower tummy/hips. There isn’t a sudden, clean boundary between…
  • Yeah mine was the same, but I left it alone and it kicked back in this afternoon.
  • Sounds like postnasal drip to me if you’re poorly and congested. I get it every time I get a cold or similar. It coats my tongue and roof of my mouth over night and feels horrible. I scrub it off with a clean cloth every morning. If it is, it’ll resolve itself once you’re better. Hope that helps. X
  • I got stuck for two weeks myself recently. Hormones, water weight, too much sodium... it’s difficult to relax about it (I know that all too well) but have faith in the system. As long as you are logging everything accurately and sticking to your calorie allowance, the fat is burning away but likely being masked by extra…
