That's a good point. I guess it all depends on the person. Like for myself, I can feel full off pretty much anything, so going off of hunger would make more sense for my tastes. But going off of hunger would require one to be able to recognize true hunger and not just a swing of the moment craving for a specific food (like…

Yeah ... I love the idea of intuitive eating, but it's just a little TOO intuitive, you understand? The entire point is to move away from rigid eating structures, so trying to fit it into a neat little box isn't working so well.
-
Oh it doesn't! I just thought it was a fun thing to think about.
-
Excellent! Thank you for your thoughtful answer. I'll try it out and see how it goes. I'm (finally) not in any rush to lose weight, and I now see the value in taking things slow and steady. I used to be the type of person that wanted to lose all the weight as quickly as possible, but this time I'm just taking things nice…

Exercise: Yep (I cleaned our bathrooms for 30 minutes) Calories: Yep Tracking: Yep (even the 3 cheez-its I swiped from a friend) I actually did it! I was thinking of just giving up for the rest of the month since I screwed up yesterday but luckily I changed my mind before any damage was done :D I also learned that one of…

^^ This. IF is not some magical potion that will ramp up your metabolism, but it's much easier to plan to eat 2 solid meals rather than 3 or 4 or 5 or 6

Exercised? No Calories? No Tracked? No What a start

I don't really understand why some people are so against calorie counting. I mean unless someone has an eating disorder or is predisposed to developing an eating disorder, it doesn't really seem like such a big deal. I feel like people paint calories counting as some obsessive ritual conducted on the daily. Now it…

@livingleanlivingclean A few cm? That's impressive. I assume it's a bikini competition (or is it physique)? Was it fun? How'd you do? What do you do after the competition? Do you try to maintain your body or do you ease up?
-
I'm on 1600. I'm 5'10 currently 160 pounds and sedentary (for now) aiming to lose 1/2 pound a week
-
There's a low carber group; I'm sure some of them are doing keto
-
Oh I see now. Yeah that makes perfect sense!
-
Okay, thank you for answering my question. To me, I would define naturally thin people by those who are able, like another person posted, to maintain a weight without a ton of conscious effort. As for you, do you feel like maintaining your current lifestyle (and subsequent body weight) is a lot of effort? If not, then I…
-
I like this description a lot better than naturally thin
-
@tinkerbellang83 Do bodyweight exercises count as strength training?
-
@kommodevaran You can't? Safely and easily lose a pound per week I mean. Huh. I've always thought that was the average weight loss that's to be expected. Well then. I'll go ahead and change my goals to 1/2 pound a week; now that I think about it, that will be much better because then I could eat more.

A true myth is an oxymoron
-
Hmmm, when I envision naturally thin, I think of someone who is still within a healthy weight, just at the lower end, you know?
-
@jgnatca I see. While they may be fat sources, don't they also offer protein?
-
How does this answer my question? I never said people are magically one or the other. My question was this: Is there an actual difference between the way naturally thin people and overweight people think? The implication is that there may or may not be an actual difference. The implication is also that people are of…

I dislike plain greek yogurt so I always add agave and berries. If you add enough sweetner, it a) cancels the healthiness of the dish due to the ridiculous amount of sugar added b) makes you wonder why you're forcing yourself to eat something you don't like c) makes you reconsider your dietary choices as you dump / give…

It depends on who the buddies are. If it's only online, then some pretty intensive communication is likely to be required. If it's a real life buddy and the two of you are friends, then yeah it'll probably work.
-
I used to, but only when I wasn't drinking enough water. Try drinking some water throughout the day, before your yoga session, and after. See if you feel better then.
-
But .... you could just ... use MFP .... I'm so confused why would someone do this? And why not just use an IIFYM calculator or something? I mean this is great and all but I'm not sure what the point is.

I'm from Nigeria but I live in the US

Based on the replies, it seems that the whole Naturally Thin thing is an attempt to generalize thinner people. I guess it's like any other generalization: it hits a few commonalities but it doesn't give the whole picture. At the end of the day, people are people and everyone is different.
-
That makes sense. Didn't mean to belittle anyone; I just saw the term on a few other friends so I was curious as to what the general mfp population thought.
-
Why do you say this? Not being rude, genuinely curious.
-
I'm naturally .... average. Neither thin nor fat. I have what you would call an 'athletic build.' Not much in the way of body fat and enough muscle definition for others to notice. I would just like to slim down a couple of pounds, that's all. As for what I think of food, there's nothing special about it. If I want…

Well that's reassuring. It seems everyone has a food scale, so it's nice to know that you were able to get along fine without one. If you don't mind me asking, how long did it take you to lose the 15 pounds? I am also aiming to lose 15 pounds (16 actually) in 4 months. Assuming I have a body scale by then, that is. My goal…
