Tonight was a vegetarian night for us. Half a red pepper stuffed with tomato, rice, veg and a light sprinkle if cheddar. Two sweet potato and bean paprika sausages. Half a plate of salad 6 green olives 1 slice of low fat garlic bread 400 cals

***Healthier Option*** Butternut squash mac and cheese. You roast the BNS and then blitz it into a ultra smooth purée/sauce (with milk or veg stock to loosen if necessary) then add less cheese than you would normally need but definitely use a mature/extra mature to get the strong flavour come through. You pour the velvety…

Chilli and coriander marinade overnight then bake in a foil parcel until almost cooked through. By the time I finish serving it up the residual heat has finished the cooking process leaving it perfectly soft. Alternatively just bake plain in foil but serve with a creme fraiche/watercress sauce over it (and a couple of new…

Bake whatever meats you fancy into an egg mixture (like a big deep no crust quiche or frittata, or can pour into large muffin cases). Add some veg like roasted peppers and onion, even some cannellini or kidney beans maybe some strained cottage cheese curds. Once baked in bulk/large pie dish, store in airtight container in…

You are inspirational in terms of what you have achieved with your body as well as your mindset. I am considerably overweight with an under-active thyroid and have tried various plans like weight watchers or slimming world but found them too restrictive when it comes to consuming good fats. After researching the thyroid…

I only ever make mine with water and i just track the whole calorie value as per the pack. I have a feeling that the calories quoted are on the basis of semi-skimmed milk being used. So if it says use 250ml water and ‘100ml’ milk, just deduct the calorie equivalent of ‘100ml’ of semi-skimmed milk from the overall calorific…

I try to eat at least two meals a day containing fish in the week leading up to it. I have found it helps with the pains and tenderness that certain body parts get as well as helping with weight loss at a time when I am likely to retain water more

I have a blob of Almond butter in my porridge but tbh a good old PB butty is enough for me. I do however think this raw vegan pad thai dish is pretty spectacular courtesy of the wonderful cookie & Kate website; https://cookieandkate.com/2014/no-noodle-pad-thai/

Breakfast was oats with banana and almond butter, lunch was goats cheese, avocado, beetroot salad toastie with a bowl of homemade asparagus soup and dinner was Linda McCartney ‘beef’ roast with new potatoes, roast parsnips, cabbage and carrots (and 2 Yorkshires). Passion fruit Skyr for dessert. We have eaten well today (no…

Think it’s made with seitan so you could always look up making your own seitan....pretty sure the local Asian restaurant will use the tinned stuff same way they are unlikely to make their own tofu....would be interested to hear if you enjoyed it the same as previous occasions.

Yep for all potatoes. The only time I would not eat the skin is if I was making mash. I’ll remove the skin if making homemade chips or roast potatoes, but not wedges or boiled (not that I boil sweet potato)...think it’s just an aesthetic thing on chips for me. On any sort of baked potato I especially love the skin being…

I do, but I also want to eat better quality healthy foods. But I definitely indulge and might have pie and mash for dinner but a low cal soup for lunch to compensate. I might also have a low cal yoghurt or jelly as dessert. Then there are days where I make a big vegetable bake in tomato sauce to have with a Quorn…

For me (morbidly obese) it takes nearly 2 stone to drop a dress size on my bottom half. Some say 10lbs to drop but I think it’s all relative to starting size and works more on a percentage drop. So for someone like me (starting out as UK size 24) to lose 10lb, it’s only going to be a small ratio compared to my overall…

I used to weigh every day but that is because I fully understood about natural fluctuations and the odd increase even though I stuck to plan didn’t throw me off. However, I am waaaay more chilled about losing weight slow and steady so sometimes I weigh in every 10 days. I don’t weigh earlier than one week anymore tho.

I initially started on the minimum for my stats in order to lose 2lb per week. But after 3 weeks I found that I wasn’t eating as much fresh fruit as I wanted (just 2 pieces per day) so I changed it to 1.5lb loss and got 1500 cals per day on the premise that I would use the extra for fruit. THEN I read up a lot about…

Completely agree with the diet break comments. I find it gives my losses a kickstart. It’s not like you have to eat a kebab and fries. Maybe try adding a lot more healthy oils each day which would easily use up calories. Handful of nuts, some fresh chopped avocado to top off a homemade chilli con (or non) carne on a baked…

I am currently trying to steer clear of most of the usual sugary suspects (soda/chocolate/sweets) and I have instead eaten 2-3 pieces of fruit a day (usually an apple, banana and raspberries). I get a sweet hit but with the bonus of the fibre that fruit gives me. I would say it took me 10 days to feel like I no longer had…

I always say the same thing to people who worry about the food on offer during All Inclusive holidays. Think about the food that you might have available and think about the cost to the company. They will have amazing fresh salad, fruits, veg, fish and meat. They will probably also have pizza, burgers, French fries, pasta.…

I left WW in January and started MFP in February. I am enjoying calorie counting far more than tracking points on WW. I know that I can eat what I want on MFP and just need to keep the calorie deficit whereas I found that I actually under-ate on WW and had much slower losses. I am on MFP with a goal of 1lb loss per week…

Crisps for me as well (chips in USA). Love me a family size bag of hot Doritos....not eaten a crisp for 6 weeks as I know it will make me lose control....oh and Haribo. I’ll eat gummy sweets until the oiliness makes me feel sick and then I’ll eat some more

I’ve an UAT but not anaemia. I have lost 15lb since 1st Feb by sticking to 1750 cals per day (I’m 5ft 7”, over 240lb and have a very sedentary lifestyle). I just about make it out of bed and drive to work where I sit at a desk for 8 hours. At weekends I barely move from bed because the joint, bone, muscle pains are bad. I…

I just eat what I want within my calorie goal. Some days that might be really healthy stuff and others it might be a Quorn cheesy escalope with half a pack of instant pasta in sauce or a steak pie with processed peas, mash and gravy. I’m still losing weight so it doesn’t feel like a restrictive diet for me.

This seems like a very poor ill-thought response. As someone with an under active thyroid...eating large quantities of broccoli (cruciferous vegetable) is way worse for my body than me consuming a small amount of oil. The oil will also leave me feeling more satisfied after a meal than broccoli would. Oil is most definitely…

Not sure if someone else commented with this already, but a nutritionist told me to buy the best quality ‘cold pressed’ oil you can afford. I have had a fabulous extra virgin olive oil from Aldi (Toscano I think) which was £5.99 and have just finished the bottle in 6 weeks. Lovely stuff to cook with or drizzle over salad.…

I only ever make them with water, no milk or butter, but I just keep the cals as listed. I did once take a look at how many cals 100ml semi skim milk would be if knocked off. It would surprise me if it was based on the inclusion of whole full fat milk.

What country are you in? In UK, little pots of sugar free pre-made jelly (jello) can be 5-10 calories and a fab dessert after lunch when you want a sweet hit. Homemade air-popped popcorn or how about a flavoured rice cake or two (depending on whether you like sweet/caramel flavours or savoury/chilli/bbq types)

I started with an aim of 2lb loss per week which on my stats was 1300. I found I didn’t get to eat as much fruit as I would like as it was depriving me of proper meals so shifted it to 1lb loss per week. This gives me 1750 cals per day on sedentary lifestyle (5ft 7”). I sometimes struggle to use them all, but it comes in…

Sorry, just realised what you were asking. Are they ‘standard’ size chicken breasts? Our ‘standard’ pack of skinless chicken breast is usually 400g for 2 breasts. One usually bigger than other and smaller tends to be 170g. You could just do a search for skinless chicken breast and split the weight of the whole pack equally.

I developed a weird habit of sliced chicken breast with grapes. Bloody love it! Also easy to buy and eat if out at the shops and start feeling hungry. I literally tear some chicken breast into a strip, wrap it around a grape and pop it in my mouth. I also use halved grapes instead of sultanas in my homemade coronation…

In the past I have found eating a fresh grapefruit every day before breakfast gave my losses a boost. That is probably more down to the increase in fibre intake than it being a grapefruit specific thing.
