Had a McDonalds milkshake last night but used it as part recovery drink part dinner because of the calories

Thanks, I realised the example I gave would be dramatically more than was likely but interesting that the possible difference would be so marginal

Interesting you can go for 2 hours in a fasted state, when I was cycling regularly I would start to suffer after an hour or so. If I have breakfast before my ride that point would probably be 30-45 mins later so I would generally fuel as I went for anything over an hour unless I was trying to improve my fasted state…

Isn't that assuming all weight loss is fat though? What about those maintaining the same weight? Would they be able to lose fat in this way? Would it not be possible in that scenario for 2lbs of fat to be lost and a lb of muscle gained? Only asking out of curiosity rather than to prove people wrong as I am certainly not an…

Which is 0.2lbs a week or roughly a lb a month so not to be sniffed at

I saw something on You Tube recently suggesting Fasted Cardio increased results and it reminded me of something I read 20 years ago and would so do it occasionally mainly due to preferring not to eat first thing rather than for any expected benefit Now my understanding of how we fuel exercise is limited but don't we use…

I have a mate who suffers the same and he finds drinking tonic water a help due to the quinine

No need to exercise for weight loss although it can help. If you burn 2,000 through during your normal daily routine then you will lose 1lb a week if you eat 1,500 with no exercise. If you eat 2,000 but burn 500 extra calories a day through exercise but eat 2,000 then you will still lose 1lb a week as the deficit is still…

I don't know about any of those but cold water needs to be heated to body temperature so it burns a few calories to do this
-
No....Do you know what an Alaskan Pipeline is?
-
The energy used to mash it transferred to the banana

That's the problem if I had been ordering as well we would have got a dozen........ there would have gone my daily calories in one go :disappointed: Glazed are ok but for the price and calories I'd rather have something else as a treat
-
I'd say it's not sad as it makes it inevitable once you hit a healthy weight rather than having to exercise the right way or worry about the latest fad.
-
I use SIS Rego as it's a recovery drink and not just a source of Protein but would normally only use for rides over 90 mins
-
Not really a surprise but I took my son to Krispy Kreme's yesterday so took a look at how many calories they were (300+) so glad I did because the smell as I walked in made them so tempting :unamused: and to think we used to share a dozen on a weekend

Healthy is not the same as low calorie
-
Not suggesting anything different........but there is nothing in OP's story that shows he is maintaining/can continue a marathon pace
-
You are pretty much bang on 3lbs a week though, that sounds more like a sprint than a marathon.
-
-
That relates to use on a treadmill though so not really relevant to the formula
-
With practice it is possible to get fairly accurate at judging portion sizes and how many calories they contain I've tested myself often and am pretty good at judging how many calories I have on a plate. Problems come with sauces and when cooked in oil though as they are impossible to know without proper nutritional info.

The rate of calorie burn is at a greater rate but you are running for half the time!!
-
Well the calculator you posted doesn't so I suggest you find one that agrees with you in order to support your argument........
-
One thing that has me confused with HRMs is how they can be used to determine calories burned. A 6ft man weighing 180 pounds walking at 3 miles per hour is likely to have a much lower heart rate than a 5ft woman that is 180 pounds walking at the same speed but in theory they will burn the same calories. I realise the…
-
Speed has no impact on the amount of calories burned but you are right the gradient would do.
-
I'm not sure if you have said what your job is..........Are you basing your activity level on the fact that you play Pickelball regularly? If so I would suggest lowering activity level then log any exercise separately allowing you to eat more on those days.
-
No need to worry about Carbs being high. I am same height as you and am now a similar weight, I've lost 12 pounds in last 6-7 weeks using default macros. The only thing that I have tried to do is get a bit more protein in where possible usually at the expense of fat but I tend to hit those ratios without even trying just…
-
Isn't that calculation only valid if you were walking that distance in isolation? Surely there is an adjustment to be made for the fact that you are getting up regularly and probably also standing still rather than being seated at times?
-
Ice is actually negative calories as you will need to burn calories to bring it to body temperature
-
You are forgetting the calories burned lifting your fork and chewing the food
