Good news! We are having long enough breaks in the rain (and even seeing the sun), so the pollinators are out harvesting nectar from my fruit trees! The flowers had started to open just as we entered a long wet, cold spell. Some years when this happens there's little to no fruit. There's mason bees ALL OVER the cherry, theโฆ

I have posted the April Challenge. See you there!

@DiscusTank5 I am pretty sure that the "dives" that @drmwc wrote about are sometimes described as "rides." They are treatments in a hyperbaric chamber. The description of it as a "dive" is because the chamber simulates the pressure your body experiences while diving. It does this with more saturated oxygen, or in the caseโฆ

You can work around this. I just tried. I set my daily calorie goal manually based on past experiences. I let MFP determine my macros and figured out what those numbers were, then I used those numbers to set my macros by grams. I don't want to reset my goal, but I tried to see if it would work. It did. I didn't ask it toโฆ

I like the barcode scanner. You do have to be vigilant that it actually identifies the item correctly. I'll echo what @yirara suggests; do the free trial of premium, use as many features as you can, and then decide if it's right for you.

@bobbinalong - you start with the at sign and start typing the name. A menu should start to show up, and you can click on the name. But it sometimes doesn't work. Kind of a pain and another problem with the new editor. In many ways the new editor is great. In some ways, it really slurps. I write slurps because I think theโฆ

I seem to recall that is the BEST time to use a heated vest, and at that point in the dive it actually helps offgass the nitrogen. I seem to recall the working part of the dive (bottom) is the time to NOT use it.

@SafariGalNYC I'm not sure what I would have done. I abhor wasting food, and I also don't like getting sick! I know that for some cheeses, it's safe to remove some kinds of mold and eat the underlying cheese. Hard cheeses (cheddar, Gouda) are safer and softer cheeses (brie) are less safe. The mold can grow faster and moreโฆ

@drmwc That's a scary story. It seems you made a full recovery and obviously returned to diving. I had a mild barotrauma, but I didn't get bent. Scary stuff. They say as many as 20% of us have a PFO. Did you ever find out if you've got one? I don't feel so bad about being cold in 48F water now. I wear a mid-weight baseโฆ

Roasted whole cauliflower. Better yet, roasted cauliflower & roasted garlic soup. Easy and delicious. No cheese. Arroz con frijoles. No queso. Side of short grain brown rice with a bunch of roasted asparagus. No cheese. Some things, like Mac & Cheese, are just going to have cheese. Don't make those recipes. Most recipes Iโฆ

Brown rice with lentils. Brown rice with split peas. Brown rice with black beans. Rolled oats mixed with full fat yogurt and left to sit for an hour to soften up. Ribeye on the grill with roasted asparagus Deviled eggs. Just kidding. They aren't whole eggs though, so maybe they are OK for your situation. Peanut butter andโฆ

Dried beans. Soak overnight. Cook on the stove or in a pressure cooker. Boom. Protein, carbs, and just a touch of fat. Sardines in water. Serve on oats or rice. And use that tool that @AnnPT77 put a link to!

Can you provide an example or two? What is your current goal, and how much of a deficit are you trying to obtain? What macro(s) are you lacking? Where are your calories coming from? Do you eat back your exercise calories? MFP will change your macro "goal" as your calorie needs go up from exercise. They are set to a percentโฆ

Not sure what you're looking for, but you can "start over" any time. Just call today "DAY ONE" and move on from here. The "nuclear option" is to close your account and start a new one. You'll probably have to pick a new user ID unless you can work with staff to use your old one (prove you are the same person).

Many people find that their tastes (likes and dislikes) change as they move to a healthier diet. I think mine did. You may find that after a while if you avoid overly sweet foods, you will be satisfied with things that aren't as sweet. Same with salt. I will never get to a place where I don't find potato chips tasty, butโฆโฆ

@tyork1994986 "Cheat" meal? Who are you cheating? Why not just call it a TREAT meal and just have one. Or skip it altogether. Twenty five pounds in 90 days is two pounds a week. That's an awfully fast rate, and it's likely not realistic.

That's going to make the difference this time - STICK TO IT!

I've written about this before, but here goes again. I weigh every day. Some days, like today, it's frustrating. I try to ignore the number. I use a spreadsheet that calculates a weighted moving average similar to what's described in The Hacker's Diet. For sure check out the section on SIGNAL AND NOISE. I think I have aโฆ

@CaityP27 Eleven kilos in twelve weeks is pretty awesome. There's bound to be some up/down along the path. Step back to see the big picture. Using a moving average (or even better a weighted moving average) to see the pattern can help eliminate the stress of individual measurements.

@nossmf Analysis: Not being able to quote myself and delete the quote bars is annoying, especially in this thread where I do the same workout from one week to the next. The revised editor has a small number of advantages. The limitations it imposes are surprisingly annoying! I wonder what the next upgradeโฆ downgrade willโฆ

Welcome! You're a month in and still sticking to it. That's a good sign. Keep that up! What are some of your goals?

Can you be more specific than "a healthy breakfast?" What are you eating, and how much? What else are you eating during the day? What goals are you trying to reach? How big of a deficit are you running? Answers to these questions might help folks give you some ideas to move forward with. How long have you been at this? Itโฆ
