Don't call me an addict, I'm a rage enthusiast, LOL.

Only those who don't realize you eat to maintain weight and exercise to maintain fitness and flexibility. The reaction to this shows the typical ignorance to this reality.

I remember one of the biggest recent arguments my wife and I got into was over a snow storm last winter and weight of the snow I removed from the driveway. I remember it was about a 12" snowfall and did some back of the envelope calculations of the area in front of the three car garage. I knew our Mercury Grand Marquis was…

Just saw this and it reminded me of those commenting on not being approached.

Nothing wrong with being intimidating because you are competent. You will only intimidate those who are unable to care for themselves. I'd say you family is sort of right, but not to the extent that you need to change. Sounds to me it will take an exceptional person to be your partner. Nothing wrong with that. Which is…

I think thismis the approach my ex wife used.

Odd, I didn't get blame out of this at all. (Am I missing something here?) I got that Tiger's wife wouldn't LOWER her standards of behavior to match his. Not sure how one gets that the statement is blame the betrayed wife for his choice to betray her. But I do get the whole blame the betrayed as that is what my own pastor…

To go along with this, read the account of Boris Yeltsin in a US supermarket and how it demoralized him. https://www.chron.com/neighborhood/bayarea/news/article/When-Boris-Yeltsin-went-grocery-shopping-in-Clear-5759129.php

Looking back on my High School pictures, I don't understand why I felt unattractive then. Looking at current pictures compared to some of those same classmates from many decades ago, I feel pretty good :)

I have no objection to the VOLUNTARY placement of such numbers. I have a big problem with those who would FORCE any enterprise to publish such numbers. If you want them and a place doesn't have or post them, don't dine there. As far as will it help. It will help for those who take an interest in such numbers. Those who…

Heck, I glanced over at my neighbor in spin class today and 28x2 was ALL the energy he was putting into his bike at times... and I do mean times we were supposed to be exerting beyond a flat road or downhill.

I'd be tempted if she was a redhead.

Pretty much everything has been covered. 1 - Ride More 2 - Ride a Red bike (because we know red is fastest) 3 - Be as light as possible. 4 - Ride more and adhere to rule #5 (see the rules by the Velominati but don't take it too seriously) If your commute is urban with stops and starts, 16MPH may be a difficult target to…

Which US are you in. I'm in the middle of the US and we have metric on every package here. My food scale is always on grams as well, unless my wife changes it to oz. Metric is infinitely easier than ounces, quarts, pints, cups, gills, hogsheads, or bushels.

As a tangential item that may be of interest in this topic, I heard a podcast last week about re-engineering the french fry to last even longer in response to the trend of meal delivery. https://www.npr.org/templates/transcript/transcript.php?storyId=772775254 sorry, edited to add a non-transcript link for those who wish…

Not because of the activity, but because people who don't get regular exercise push their body beyond it's current limits.

Vodka mixed into your water bottle with a bit of Kiwi Strawberry Propel is a good combination :)

Which means it doesn't take a huge deficit to lose weight, as the math and chemistry works in both directions. A few hundred fewer calories in, a few hundred more calories used by moving more and pretty soon the excess weight comes off. I think most critics here are not critical of those who are being honest about where…

Ultimately, your weight loss journey is about your choices, not his. I think it is more healthy to own it and the outcome. Regardless what he brings into the home, you have to set your own limits. If he brings home ice cream, have a measured out on the food scale portion if you have room in your nutritional budget. If you…

I don't. About 40% of what I make goes into taxes of one sort or another, and I usually end up cutting a check to the IRS when I file. This whole we need the government to do _______ nonsense needs to stop. I can't afford it.

Carbs are bad Eat them and get fat I learned this as a lad I'm sure it is proven with a stat

Carbs are bad Yes they are They make me sad I will run from them far Carbs are bad Eat them I wont This is the fad Why, tell you I won't It's a good thing I am an engineer and not a poet :)

Everything in balance. If I'm 90km into a 100km bike ride, I don't need more protein, I need more carbs as I've probably gone through all my glycogen reserves during the previous 3 hours. Carbs are bad* when I'm sitting on the sofa watching TV and doing very little. I really don't need to be eating a bag of chips or…

If you can, go see a Joslin Diabetes Center Registered Dietitian. I saw one in Feb 2018 when I was beyond Pre T2D with a fasting BG of 180. She took a look at my lifestyle (I was already exercising, just eating junk) and crafted a plan that just gave some basic guidance. The number of calories and the macronutrient mix to…

Not a fan of farm subsidies either. However, I think the food stamp program is attached, so good luck getting rid of such subsidies.

Perhaps a better idea instead of good or bad would be foods with a stop light attached. Foods in the green category, eat all you want. Unlikely you are going to eat so much kale and water to adversely impact your weight goals. Chocolate donuts would be in the red category. Doesn't mean you don't eat them, it means you stop…

Because apparently I fail at reading. Yes, it was totally my fail. DOH!

Sorry, can't really tell if something is satire or genuine taking of offense these days. There really needs to be a satire/sarcasm font...

Why assume Americans? I can take my Sikh Indian friend who doesn't eat meat to BK and he can have an Impossible Whopper and I'll have a traditional Whopper. We'll skip the fries and the mayo as those are the real killers :)
