Non-expert opinion, speaking from own experience. - Whilst calorie deficits won't help you build muscle, you can still gain strength through training. - If you're looking to lose 30 lbs, but struggling to stick to a calorie deficit, I'd suggest starting small. Maybe 0.5lbs per week, requiring a deficit of only 250 calories…

Main advantage is that most foods you can think of, both packaged and raw are in the database - and the majority of them are accurate, meaning logging calories is very easy. The social networking side of it can be helpful and encouraging too.
