New and want to princess carry someone

Hi it's been a while since I've last gone to the gym and have fallen out of routine. I'm currently 5'5" and 180lbs and had a lot of trouble with my metabolism due to my previous medications. Im off them now and ready to give it another shot but could honestly use some help and encouragement.
I currently use a calorie counter but find it hard to stick to a workout regiment and give myself manageable goals...
I'm looking to lose around 30 lbs and also be strong enough to princess carry another woman. Are there any routines you might suggest for arms/upperbody and general weightloss or ways to not feel discouraged on the journey?
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read this

Non-expert opinion, speaking from own experience.
- Whilst calorie deficits won't help you build muscle, you can still gain strength through training.
- If you're looking to lose 30 lbs, but struggling to stick to a calorie deficit, I'd suggest starting small. Maybe 0.5lbs per week, requiring a deficit of only 250 calories per day. Surely if you look at your diet you can find a way to cut those 250 calories - or sweating them out in the gym with Cardio and weights.
- I don't know about specific upper body workouts for carrying somebody, but in addition to working on your arms, focus especially on your core - a strong midsection is essential for upper body strength. There are lots of core workouts for beginners online, I'd start there for a few weeks, and begin to phase in other body parts along the way.
