People may disagree with me, but when sudden significant weight gain happens I (1) buy a bigger pair of pants and (2) make a doctor appointment. No reason to feel uncomfortable and self-blaming. Seven pounds in 2 days would kinda scare me.

Tell the person at the front desk you think your form might be wrong on some machines and you need a quick refresher. They’ll give you one. If they balk and say you need to pay for a trainer, say you’re new and afraid of hurting yourself and they’ll definitely help you right then for free. Anyway: nobody’s watching you…

Maybe just a one day thing. Did you eat at a restaurant and consume more salt than usual? Could you be retaining water during your cycle? Constipated? Don’t panic.

My sister in law lost weight on her own, then joined Weight Watchers. She ate a lot of food with 0 points, but of course these foods had calories. She gained weight, so decided to drop it and was happy with her progress without it.

Gym exercises could include an elliptical machine (or Nordic track), and if you can take a yoga class that's basically no impact, although you'll get stronger and have better balance.

I use the free version. Love it!

What great insight! So glad you've found things to concentrate on and enjoy to make up for those challenging times at work. You're creating a life! Good on you.

Whip out your tape measure and record your results for chest, biceps, waist, hips, thighs. Take those measurements again in a few weeks. You'll probably see some differences regardless of what your scale says!

You need to log your exercise into MFP so you can find out how many additional calories you can consume each day. Sounds like your watch doesn’t give you that calculation

My doctor gave me a list of low carb foods to eat and which ones to avoid. Maybe you could make a list for yourself, which will help guide you and keep you motivated. At the dinner table, you're just going to have to say, "No thank you, no rice for me tonight". Make a bigger salad and fill up on that. Learn to steam…

I pre-log a 5 ounce pour of red wine at the beginning of the day. That way, I'm able to see whether I'm going to hit my calorie goal after I eat during the day. If it's going to put me over, I don't have that wine with dinner. If I'm going to be within the allotted calorie limit, I treat myself. I know that when I reach my…

MyFitnessPal adds in the calories you earn from exercising so that you can have some energy while still losing weight. So, say you're current goal is to eat 1400 calories a day. You take a brisk one hour walk, which burned 200 calories. You are now entitled to eat another 200 calories, bringing your total daily intake goal…

You're really doing well, Honey_Pumpkin39! Congrats on your progress. You seem to be pretty disciplined. Best of luck!

Be sure to tell your health care provider about the antidepressant side effects of weight gain. It's possible the doctor or psychiatrist could adjust your meds or switch over to a new one. A family member of mine experienced the same thing, and was weaned off the medication that was causing her rapid weight gain (8 pounds…

I'm a night snacker. But I log in the wine and popcorn calories when I log in my dinner foods so I know what I'm really about to do. The key for me: making sure that I log in the butter that popcorn is swimming in.

I had an L5/S1 bulging disc when I was in my mid-30s. I was in excruciating pain that had me vomiting and I was in the ER immediately. They ran an MRI to confirm. I think that's important. I spent the next year laying on my stomach (you might find lying on your back is what they recommend for you). The physical therapy was…

I think MFP is helpful information, but I don't think it's set up to give any guidelines on gaining or maintaining the "right" amount of weight during pregnancy. My suggestion would be to show this program to your doctor and get some medical input on how much weight you can expect to gain this time around. Every pregnancy…

I basically feel so awful if I don't eat breakfast and a snack before lunch! I'm jealous that people can do this - it's probably a great way to lose weight and learn discipline.

I hear you! It's hard to prep food when you're tired. So, I try to make a list of what I'm going to have for dinner before I go to work or the gym. Then it's usually something quick, like a stir fry with rice or scrambled eggs, or a salad I made before I left the house. Anything easy. The logging can be hard to work into…

You might want to cut down your cardio to just once a day for 30 minutes for this first one or two weeks. As long as you're in a calorie deficit, you'll lose weight. After you adjust to your calorie restrictions, add the two times a day cardio back in and see how you feel. Here are two of my tips: (1) Take your body…

Well, I think it's great that despite the depression you're still hitting the gym! Maybe a tweak in meds would help a little? Consider one or two sessions with a personal trainer at your gym, and ask for a different routine. Sometimes just mixing it up and incorporating more of the things you enjoy with some other more…

I stopped counting calories here, and am now wearing bigger pants. Good on all of us for getting back on track, I say!

I weigh every day, and enter the info into an app called Happy Scale. It really helps me see a gradual downward trend in my weight loss. I've learned not to freak out if I've gained 1 or 2 pounds, I just keep on the MFP program and those pounds are lost within a couple days. It's water weight, or too much salt the day…

Drink more water, herbal tea, coffee, 0 calorie flavored water, diet soda if you're drinking the full sugar kind now. Sometimes our body thinks it's hunger when it's actually dehydration. Also, it'll keep your stomach a little more full. Get online and search "low calorie foods" and "quick healthy dinner recipes" for…

Eat back the calories you're expending! You're probably earning at least an additional 200 calories a day because of your exercise, so eat what MyFitnessPal says to eat. You may well be within your allotted calories that way. You'll still lose weight. And definitely slow down!! I lost much of my weight at 1200 a day which…

I learned to make soups. Chicken Tortilla Soup. Thai Rice Noodle Chicken Soup. Vegetable Soup. Get on the internet and search those terms, then print out the recipes that have 4 or 5 star ratings that look simple to make (like, they take 20 minutes to chop vegetables and meat and 20 to 30 minutes to cook). Go shopping for…

OP, I've read through all the posts and my sense is that you are as well prepared as any person can possibly be. You're confident and look people directly in the eyes, have trusted your instincts in a creepy situation and made smart choices, you've taken classes, you tell people where you're going and have photographic…

I weigh myself in the morning after using the toilet, wearing only underpants. Every day. I enter that number into the Happy Scale app for iPhone, which creates a gentle little graph that shows trends that are easy on the eye and don't freak me out if there's a weight gain for a day or two here and there. Here's something…

Well done, you!

I just never told anyone I was on a diet or trying to lose weight. When people asked about my obvious weight loss and asked how I got there, I just said I was eating the same stuff sometimes and healthier foods more often. If they pressed for more details, I'd say something along the lines of, "Gee, it's kind of a boring…
