Hello I’m new and trying to figure out the app. Why does it include my exercise calories? Trying to lose weight and with the exercise calories added I would be eating more than to just maintain. Is there a way to shut this off? Any advice welcomed! Thanks!

MyFitnessPal adds in the calories you earn from exercising so that you can have some energy while still losing weight. So, say you're current goal is to eat 1400 calories a day. You take a brisk one hour walk, which burned 200 calories. You are now entitled to eat another 200 calories, bringing your total daily intake goal to 1600. This is how the app is supposed to work. It's important to eat back at least 50% of those earned calories. I promise you: you will still lose weight! If you don't eat the additional calories, you'd dip down to the equivalent of eating only 1200 calories that day, which the app has calculated might not be sustainable or safe for you.
