I think it looks like you have a good base of muscle. If you want to look leaner then you should cut. From there you can decide if you want to bulk to build more muscle.

My weight is bouncing all over the place. I'm using Libra to trend it but it's kind of hard to know exactly the rate I'm gaining. I'm trying to go slow to minimize fat gain. This is kind of frustrating. I've been doing my measurements once a month but maybe I should take those weekly?

You can keep doing it 3 days a week. It's an option to run it 4 days.

We are our own worst critics. You may look better than you think you do. Maybe you prefer a leaner look in which case you would need to cut more or bulk and then cut again. A picture would help.

Thanks everyone, this is basically what I expected. Right now I use both calisthenics and weights. I really want to develop the skills that go along with bodyweight fitness so I'll likely stick to using both.

You can try adding in calorie dense foods that are generally small in volume but big in calories. Peanut butter, nuts, seeds, avocados, and cooking with oil are some examples.

I know for me, I want more muscle mass and that is why I'm finally running the bulk. I know I'll never have the body I really want without the gain.

I think most people are looking to lose weight. And after losing weight it can be intimidating to make the choice to gain for muscle. It took me over a year to finally be ready to intentionally gain weight. And that was only after a break from logging and a slow unintentional weight gain.

Yeah, I go back and forth. Today I felt really bloated. It's definitely a mental battle.

Maybe start with a cut until you are a comfortable weight/body fat and then go for a lean bulk. Do you already have a lifting program?

I eat what I want (within reason) on holidays and close family birthdays.

MFP says I should maintain my weight on 1600 calories a day... I maintained for over a year on about 1900 plus one day a week that I didn't log and I know I ate way more than 2000. So, no I do not.
