  • Haha, I don't get it either. Pizza, ice cream, and chocolate I understand, but McFattie food-I do not understand. It is not even real food! I am a food nerd and I know what is in fast food...that probably helps me avoid it? Maybe try educating yourself about what is in the fast food you crave will help to deter you?
  • I am a dork too. No kids, full-time work and college. I have just recently started playing video games...it actually helps prevent me from snacking at night, sometimes. Feel free to friend me!
  • I do exactly that-I do not bring any money with me to work-that way I usually stay away from junk. Sometimes I will plan a calorie splurge. Glad to know others so this too. @zach_duden you are not alone, and everyone is giving you great advice. Be kind to yourself, and figure out what works for you. Remember that everyone…
  • Welcome and happy birthday to your son, added you.
  • Yep, boiled veggies just make me sad. This is an awesome thread filled with good information, thank you @apullum I have an eggplant in the fridge and did not have a plan for it and now I do! I am a seasonal cook. I rarely cook in the summer and mostly eat salads and grilled foods. In the winter, all veggies get roasted or…
  • You are so lucky! I only buy them when they're on sale. Avocados, toast, and eggs with toasted cumin and sriracha- that's my favorite breakfast!
  • Maine-where there's 9 months of freezing temps and three months of tourists plaguing all the cool spots.
  • Thank you to everyone, I just put in my first recipe, yay! I will be able to log my work meals much easier now!
  • I looked it up, and something like that is a little too pricey right now, but good luck, and keep us posted!

  • Holy heck, that is awesome! RBG is the best!
  • Good craft beer...like a nice hoppy IPA!
  • I finished my summer semester of school today.
  • I cannot keep chocolate in my house. I have absolutely no self control. I will wake up in the middle of the night and eat chocolate until it is gone. I have learned to only buy single servings of junk- that way I cannot binge! @Gamliela -I just had yogurt with cacao powder and frozen cherries, its so good.
  • Kale keeps better than many leafy greens and cabbage, carrots, and onions both will keep for a while. Can you freeze some of what you buy? I would buy bananas, berries and anything else on sale and freeze them I would buy large cuts/whole chickens and make bone broths. Lots of eggs, dried beans, rice and salsa.

  • My diary is open to friends and I have odd eating habits, feel free to friend me.
  • @Ming777 This thread has really good info!
  • This is great advice. Also consider learning to like cheap veggies that last, like cabbage, onions, carrots. Cabbage is very cheap and versatile and it stays good if you wrap it up tight and buying dried beans will save you a lot of money as well.
  • Sausage is really just spices, salt, and preservatives. You could really just pick any ground meat, add lots of pepper, hot pepper flakes, (if you want spicy sausage) lots of salt, some crushed fennel seeds and anything else you like. Its cheaper and not full of excess preservatives to extend shelf life.
  • I was wondering the same thing-I do heavy lifting at work on certain days, so should I just edit my activity level on those days and switch back on normal light activity days?
  • @bernadettenz Are they roasted beets, or raw???
  • Thanks folks, I am getting it now-I am just starting out...and was having a rather cranky-pants moment b/c this semester is winding down and I have a crazy amount of work due and maybe adding food tracking to my to-do list wasn't the smartest move on my part! Thanks to all you folks, I am not giving up and I do agree I…
  • I am not a complete vegetarian, but I do eat a mostly plant diet with a ton of eggs. I am not gluten free or doing any sort of elimination type of dieting-more of simple lifestyle changes. I am just starting out. Feel free to friend me!
  • When I throw together a "whaever is gonna go bad first" stir-fry with small bits of 8-12 ingredients, it takes longer to log it than it does to cook it. When I get a break from school I will do this and freeze a lot of stuff.-
  • I have been doing that...just hoped there was a quicker way!
  • Eating whole, fresh, unprocessed foods and avoiding factory made or grown food has become a main goal in my life, but to each his/her own.
  • Thanks @amusedmonkey, I will certainly try it again tonight. Maybe I just didn't scroll down?
  • I tried that and it did not work. While I completely understand what you're saying RnnerGrl, I work full time, attend school full time, and I live alone--everything that gets done has to be done by me. I like most of the features on this site, but if I find something more efficient, I would rather go that route. The USDA…
  • There was a great website (free) by the USDA, it even tracked how much from each food group, but it shut down June 30th of this year. If I find a more efficient one, I will be sure to share!
  • With the adobo spices, I would do a Mexican chicken soup with lots of veggies.
  • Seriously folks, it took me longer to type in my dinner than it did to cook the darned thing. THere's got to be a faster way-or maybe a better site that I do not know about!
