  • I totally understand your plight- I've been in the same boat since early adolescence and it's a constant challenge. What I've found for me is that it's not just "calories in/calories out", but the quality of what I'm eating (and drinking). I'm a junk food junkie and when I accepted that and started to look at where my…
  • You were pretty then, you're still pretty- and I bet you feel sooo much better! Congratulations!
  • Amazing story, thank you for sharing! Congratulations on so radically changing your lifestyle and saving your life!
  • This is always a question for me too because a) men can (generally) eat more calories, b) unless the other person needs to lose weight too, they're going to eat what they want and c) food is social and I hate not being able to partake... In my successful times, I'm able to detach "food" from "reward/pleasure". When I'm in…
  • So happy to find this thread! I'm 61, relatively fit but just above healthy BMI and frustrated at my own backsliding. Lost, gained, lost again, gained again the same 20 lbs, and it's totally due to hiding from the reality what I can put in my mouth. So I'm back, fresh start and committed to making this what I know it needs…
  • You look fabulous!! And I bet you're feeling so much better!! Keep it up, you inspire me!
  • 61 heading to 62 and I've just come back YET AGAIN.... the same 10-15 lbs and it's purely self-sabotage. I definitely need MFP to keep myself accountable and not lose sight. And I could use a friend or two if there's anyone out there:-)
  • Good for you, getting started! It's tough to change patterns of a lifetime, and usually takes something dramatic to point out the habits we've held on to that don't help us. I love food too, and it has been a constant lifelong struggle to keep that love in check. Food is probably our best and most consistent pleasure in…
  • Sounds like you've been successful already, it's just hard to keep motivated! I'm in the same boat, and have gained and lost the same 15 lbs over and over because I "reward" my success by eating the junk I love, and I end up sabotaging myself. It's a tough mindset to break, and I'm back here to try that again!
  • You changed your lifestyle and changed your life, and that's so amazing. Thanks so much for sharing your success, I'll remember this when I get discouraged!
