Got in 1/3 of a mile today. Thinking that I'll work up to 3/4 of a mile by the last week of this month. Anyone have experience with tightness pain at the front of the hip where the quad comes in? Had this pain at my left hip getting out of bed yesterday morning and then again getting out of the car later in the day. Made…

Hi, everyone. First time joining this thread. Very excited! Just recently started running again after 2 years. Had knee surgery and thought my running days were over. Knee still doesn't feel 100%. I'm taking it really slow. My 10 mile goal for January is practically nothing, but at the same time it means everything to me.…

LOL, and here I thought I was the only person lifting in my bare feet at home.

If I am to continue onward with this weight loss and then maintain it, indulgence a few times a year needs to be a part of it. So I enjoyed the extras today and tomorrow will be either a maintenance or modest deficit day. Now off to get in a spectacular leg workout after ingesting so much dietary fuel! :p

Are you tracking all of your food intake with a weight scale? That's the most important part of weight loss for me. Otherwise, I will eat over my TDEE and not even realize it.

Today is my 92nd consecutive day of logging food. Logging my food has made all the difference.

The Christmas season is a lonely time for me. Don't really know why. I have a spouse and kids at home, so shouldn't I be happy? But at work I feel downright sad. Everyone else seems to be in the spirit and spreading joy. I just fake it.

@FeelinFooFoo Sorry to hear about your cat. She was a beauty. It's the third year without my "firstborn" cat and the pain of losing her still hits me hard on occasion.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. I will focus on finding clothes that suit my body shape better and make me look like a million bucks. :D I realized that I'm so focused on covering up that everything starts to look sloppy and bigger than what it really is. I didn't do this before losing weight. I still need to work…

I'm sorry you're dealing with this, too. I do try to think about how I'm on the right track and the effort will pay off eventually, but then I look in the mirror and all I see is a body built from failure. Weird that I liked my body better before losing weight. Like, hey world, this is who I am. Now my thinking has become…

In my 20s, I weighed slightly less than you and was set on losing more because of my pear shaped body. I just wanted my thighs to match the rest of me, you know? Then I met my husband and we started going to the gym together. He talked me into to doing heavier weight training, less cardio, and eating more. OMG, what a…

Accountability means everything to me, so yes. If I stop logging because of an unfortunate calorie count, then I'd only be working my way back up to my high weight. (It's happened in the past.) It's actually less worrisome to log everything; my mind assumes the worst most highest calorie intake, so it's a relief to find…

Yes, get a food scale! It's funny, I was just talking to someone at work who isn't losing weight and she's set on buying a fitbit, but she won't consider a buying a food scale for a quarter of the price. Before I got my food scale, I spent WEEKS not losing and getting frustrated. Weighing everything was an eye-opener,…

Fantastic results! Any words of wisdom you want to share?

I went vegan a year ago and saw an improvement, then started getting acne again out of the blue. From a YouTube video with Dr. Greger (sp?), I realized it was because of the sunflower seeds I was eating. Once I cut them out, acne hasn't been back.

One thing that's made it easier for me to accurately log recipes that are hard to divide into equal parts (like chili or soup) is to label it as one serving. I weigh each ingredient, write the amounts down, add it to the recipe creator here, and then add up the total weight of the ingredients. (And I like to include the…

This would make a great a Twillight Zone episode. Thanks for sharing your story. My 40s are fading fast and never thought I'd still be struggling with weight. You give me hope.

I went vegan a year ago and it has been a total game changer with my period problems (endo and cysts). I didn't go vegan for this problem and wasn't expecting such a difference. Went from horrible cramping and heavy flow for over a week each month to hardly any pain (some months it's zero) and a lighter flow and length of…

If this is the macro ratio you want, you'll have to play around with a daily food plan. I did this for my daughter once because hubby was concerned she wasn't getting enough calcium and iron on her vegan diet. Just kept rearranging the food combinations until she had a day's worth of calcium and iron.

Flat, defined abs all day, every day.

All fruit pies are disgusting.

In my past weight loss efforts, drinking coffee (black) was a great help for suppressing appetite. But now even a couple of sips gives me heartburn. Wonder what changed.

If my calories go beyond my TDEE, that's a sure-fire way to bring back my reflux.

I would either skip the eating back exercise calories and just add in a reasonable amount to your daily calorie limit or try eating back only half your exercise calories. Some cardio machines and exercises in MPF have too high of a burn. Like, it'll say 600 calories burned per hour when you're really only burning 3/4 or…

I once saw a doctor for neck pain related to an auto accident. After telling her I lifted weights and ran, she actually got mad at me, saying weight training's bad for bones and running's bad for ovaries. How someone like that holds a medical license is beyond me.

Success is about sticking it out through the hard times to get where you need to be. Be honest with yourself and weigh everything, log everything. It only takes ~1,000 extra calories a day to gain 20 lbs in 2 months. With the easy-access junk food world we're living in today, that's not a stretch to do unintentionally.…

LOL, it's interesting how foods affect people differently. I always stayed away from beans, thinking they caused bad gas. Turns out it's not the beans by themselves--it's overeating in general while eating beans. If I stay within my calories, a cup of beans a day is no problem. If I overdo the calories along with those…

When you're on the food search page, there's a dialog box that pops up. It's the same box where you put how many servings you're logging for that food. Click on the nutritional info button and check if the iron percentage is correct and even update it if someone put it in wrong. It can be a pain to have to check and…

First off, you are a stunningly beautiful woman at any weight, so don't feel like you've got to reach a certain weight by your b-day if it means running yourself ragged. Burning off 1,000 calories a day at the gym while working full-time and then coming home to care for children is a recipe for stress. I would shorten my…

Nancy sounds like one helluva woman. What a happy ending.
