  • the only thing that works for me is keeping myself busy lol.... If I feel like I'm going to give in, I usually have some vanilla coke zero, I know it's not healthy but if it's gonna stop me from munching extra 500kcal, then it's a lesser of two evils ;)
  • I used to get terrible cravings, the first 2 weeks are the worst. It does get better. Are there any little treats that would make you feel better, but that you can still incorporate in your daily kcal allowance?
  • remember the first step is the hardest. I agree with some previous replies that exercise can be very therapeutic, find something you enjoy and stick to it. For me it was weights and kickboxing. As for binge eating, I think logging everything is the best thing you can do to control it. It's a massive eye opener when you…
  • You'd be surprised...I never believed it either until my GP recommended swapping contraceptive pill for implant. I gained approx 3 stones in a month, and I was not eating any more or any differently than before. Until this day my metabolism is not the same, not even close to what it used to be, and it's been years since I…
  • For me it's the other way around, I get much better/harder workouts in the mornings when I'm still full of energy rather than after all day at work. I guess it's just a personal preference and will be different for everyone
  • I know exactly how you feel, I'm the same! If I listened to my body and ate till I'm satisfied, I'd probably eat 3 times more than I actually need, easily
  • Ladies, you're not alone:( When I get upset/stressed, I could eat anything and everything. I can easily eat a tub of ice cream, whole pizza, loads of cheesesticks and a whole bag of Doritos and still feel like I'm hungry:( and I agree with one of the previous replies, it's good to log it. When you suddenly see how many…
  • For me personally Quorn is a must to even get close to my protein target, but I'm a vegeterian
  • London UK here:)
  • what's your strategy? Are you only dieting, or working out too?
  • I totally agree, I am fine with paying my half but I like the old school gentleman type:)
  • Hi Irene, we're in the same boat, I've got close to 4 stones to get rid off. Nice to see someone from UK on here:)
  • Why do you assume it wouldn't be special just because she has a past? I'm in a very happy relationship at the moment, and I'll tell you one thing: everything we do together is very, very special. Even though I've done it with my ex too, it doesn't matter - this time is completely different because I'm with the right…
  • Why not have a shake/smoothie for breakfast, and then salad with some eggs/feta cheese for extra protein for lunch? It's simple enough, quick and easy to prepare, but will keep you going through the day and you won't be coming home starving and ready to munch first thing that falls into your hands
  • Nice to see I'm not the only one from UK London:D
  • I am no expert, but I would go crazy on such low carbs, especially when the kcal are so low:) I've tried sticking to 1200kcal but it was just too hard, I was starving all the time...I increased kcal to 1400 and I feel much better now.
  • I work in the hospital myself and unfortunately, it's full of mean girls:( I don't know if it's the case of too many women in one place getting all ''cliquey'', but every single hospital I worked at was the same. Personally I used to love wearing scrubs, they're so comfy!:D What matters is that you feel good in what you…
  • I actually haven't tried it, I usually use flax seed or chia, I might give it a try. I avoid protein powders cause for some reason they give me upset stomach, no matter what kind/brand I use. I'm relying mainly on beans, lentils, tofu, eggs, quorn and dairy, and it's still hard to hit the target and stay within the kcal limit.
  • I've got the same problem, and I'm vegeterian, must be even worse for you:( One good idea I got from one of the guys here is smoothie made of silken tofu, cocoa powder, milk, sweetener and vanilla extract. It's really nice, you can swap normal milk for almond one.
  • You're definitely not the only one, I'm vegeterian myself:) The most difficult for me at the moment is hitting my protein target, especially because I'm allergic to nuts and don't tolerate any protein powders
  • I just walked for more 30 minutes and now the adjustment is over -300kcal :| I just can't wrap my head around it
  • it definitely is, and very confusing
  • No, I don't log anything on MFP, I only do it on MapMyFitness as it's linked to MFP account. I know what you mean though, at the beginning I had SamsungHealth connected to it as well and activity was logged twice, but that's not the case anymore
  • I just double checked and yeah, it's set to sedentary... It's just very weird, cause it seems the more kcal I burn by exercising, the more is deducted.... I tried clicking at the ''i'' symbol to see how it's calculated but I just don't get it, maths is like black magic to me lol
  • But if that's the case, then why doesn't it do the adjustment if I don't exercise? If it was assuming that was the only exercise, then shouldn't it deduct even more on rest days? Also, the more I exercise and more kcal I burn, the more kcal is taken away by adjustment. I just don't get it and what's causing it, I tried…
  • Thanks Angelsja.....My activity level is set to sedentary due to my job, so it seems weird it would take 155kcal away. Especially cause on some days when I do kickboxing or go gym, it deducts as much as 350kcal. I just don't get how does it work
  • I used to play volleyball and even wanted to go pro at some point....Then I injured my knee and couldn't play anymore, and had pains in my knee for almost 10 years. I was stupid enough to listen to the doctor who advised I should avoid exercise because of my knee. It was the worst thing I could have done. Years later I got…
  • I've always been a very skinny child so my parents, in good faith, tried to get as much food into me as possible. I remained skinny and could eat whatever I wanted (including loads of junk and sweets), as much as I wanted, until in my mid 20s my doctor convinced me to swap contraceptive pill for implant. It was the worst…
  • Remember the Universe gives the hardest battles to the strongest warriors:) I know it must be hard to believe it right now, but it will change. You will find the right person, I'm sure she's out there somewhere. Everything happens for a reason, and sometimes what seems to be a failure is a blessing in disguise. It didn't…
  • thanks for all your replies! I've tried many different protein powders, whey as well as plant based, many different brands, and for some reason I get upset stomach after every single one of them:(
