I’m slightly unclear here because I do HIIT workouts and it does count steps.

I do the same, switched yesterday but I’m starting with resistance bands to get the feel of it. I broke it to four days a week and the mma the fifth. Chest/ triceps Back/biceps shoulders and legs to split the four days until I know what I’m doing. This will help me study one and incorporate. Good luck. I’m already killing!
