Just do the math: a couple of drinks per day. assume a couple is 3 beers per night. not excessive but still roughly 450 calories. a pound of fat is about 3300 calories (give or take). That's a pound a week. just in beer. Math is our friend.

Trudging along is fine. That implies forward motion. 👍🏻

It doesn’t help that your spouse drinks. Recipe for disaster or in my case divorce. I had to stop drinking and my first wife thought alcohol was the center of all social activities. We parted ways about a year after I had my last drink. 21 years ago. My current wife does not drink.

I cheated. I had elective bariatric sleeve surgery. I am 57 and was 70 pounds above my ideal weight. I just couldn’t get started or when I did I’d hurt myself or get sidetracked. I’ve seen a bunch of my clients over the years get kneee and hips replaced and so this was my preemptive strike. Get the weight off for good and…

Theresa, I am a little over 90 days post op and the diet that the doctor recommends is a kind of loose-KETO protein based diet. I am going in for my 4 month check-up with the dietician and will ask the question. I truly think that a nice balance will be healthy. 21 months.....WOW. Worth it?

Next time someone tries to push alcohol on you, simply say sorry, can’t. I’m allergic to alcohol. And leave it at that. Walk away.

Keep working and stay in the moment. You’ll reach a point where the compulsion will just leave you. That dark lingering spirit will vanish.

At 56, I needed to make a change. Over the past ten years I’d magically crept up to 240#,,, at 5’10”, that was porky. So I underwent bariatrc sleeve surgery on Nov 7th. This morning I was 194#. My goal is 170#. During tax season it is/will be tough to maintain the activity level, but I have the luxury of working from a…

I had to get out of my head. Snd, the best way to do it was call somebody. Anybody. Once I’d expressed the temptation to a friend, it disappeared.

It is a great tool. had my sleeve surgery Nov 7th, down 37.2 as of this morning. that's about halfway to my goal of 75#. so far so good.

my surgery was Nov 7th. and similar results. 37.2 as of this morning, which almost exactly 1/2 way to my goal of 75 #. Good luck.

AA. AA was very helpful during the first five years; I enjoyed helping other drunk *kitten*. About year five, I started to feel the environment was toxic and repetitive. Too many folks were in the court-ordered or threatened jail spiral. At about the same time, I meet my future wife who didn’t drink either, and I simply…

09/16/1998 - So just over 20 years. My advice. Don't worry about 8 days or 10 days or 30 days..... just today. Today is all that matters. You can't stay sober tomorrow. Only today.
