Why do you use the sauna after your workouts ? You want that extra water... it's how your body sends glycogen and electrolytes through your muscles. You seem "number on the scale obsessed" ... 90% of us get that way sometimes; me included, so I don't mean it judgey. But I would encourage you to embrace water-weight. When…

What a feeling. That's really great.

Eat less calories than your body burns. Most all of your caloric burn is just daily stuff like keeping your temp at 98 degrees. Exercise is good, but it takes a LOOOOOT of exercise to earn a cupcake. If you want to lose weight... eat less.

Haha pjay... no worries , happens regularly now and again.

I can't believe I got woo'd for that

Zero cardio needed for weight loss. Just eat less. Measure how many calories you burn ... measure you food. Eat less than you burn.

When I hit all my goals I'm buying a new motorcycle. A brand new "everything I want" over the top motorcycle. A big goal keeps me focused more than a bunch of little ones. And my current bike is a 1973, so I spend more time working on it than riding it.

My slow/recovery days I get deep into heart rate and breathing and I always see garmin improve my vo2 max on those days. Its a good mini-goal. The underpinning of running is using the least amount of energy possible. A confluence of tiny minutia that add up to success when multiplied out over thousands of steps. The key is…

@OldAssDude ... you inspire so much ...

In case you did want a reasonably priced upgrade... The sony SP700n have the left as the master. And have very pleasant noise canceling, with "aware mode" at the touch of a button. Also they respond to Google voice, so you just say "okay google skip this song" "okay good turn it up" which is nice. I am thrilled with them.…

Wanted to update people on my progress: As most of you know I stepped on a nail doing some construction demo and I have a kind of ugly wound on my foot. (Yes I saw a Dr... I'm fine) I am wrapping the wound, mostly for extra padding... Of course it hurts, but nothing that would stop you from running. More like an annoyance.…

@hypocacculus hit the nail on the head... ...but doing something like a probiotic intensive diet, or a good-belly reboot are a great way to kickoff a new lifestyle of eating better. Ie, I used to live on fast food and beer. I eat mostly unprocessed whole foods now. Seeding good bacteria is a good kick off to a new eating…

Are headphones an option ? Noise canceling headphones and a thumbs up account for over 50% of my office interractions.

I absolutely love mine. I got a new 735xt on Ebay for 200 bucks. Worth looking...

If it's YOUR treadmill and has your height and weight entered, the calorie burn is close. (Within 1.5% of what my garmin tells me). So to enter manually just pick any jogging speed on the mfp list and enter whatever # of minutes equals your calorie burn accd. To the treadmill. Maybe itll say 45 minutes instead of 55... but…

Not dissing that specific article, but PSA; Healthline is a pay-to-publish article farm that often publishes straight up false articles for biased causes ... and has no standards for peer review or etc.

Be warned though, eventually your utility room will end up looking like this:

Rest days KILL me !! So I get it. But you're putting a lot more strain on your joints etc since you weigh more now ... so you need to build up new tolerances in the knees and ankles. And the legs always swell with water when you come back go running. It's actually a good thing, and may mess up the scale readings, but…

I am alllll about healthy gut bacteria. Probiotics are essential. But prebiotics are too ... partially and fully soluble fibers to give that gut bacteria something to munch on. Like resistance starches. My favorite source of probiotics is homemade Kimchi. But while seeding bacteria into the gut is great; if you dont eat a…

I was also too self conscious about my body to go to a gym when i started I got one of those total gym machines with 300 lbs of weights for 300$ on Facebook. Added bonus ... no excuse to not use it. It's IN MY HOUSE. I also have a treadmill that I overpaid for. In the end, if I have to drive somewhere etc etc ... it's just…

I run every other day. I do: long slow run, shorter race-tempo run, short slow run ... repeat. So one week its 3 runs, one week it's four. So for my legs, every other day is a rest day. On those days I try to stay active but do not do any specific workouts. Maybe chop firewood, or haul lumber, stuff like that.

@RelCanonical was right, polite, and gave good advice. If you can't see that, you have your own issues to work though. Eat less is the answer. Take it or leave it, it's the simple truth.

Well the cast has to weigh a few lbs. But ... weight loss in 90% how much you eat and 10% how much you move ... so the broken ankle shouldn't set you back.

If you want to build low ab muscle, laying on your back and lifting your feet 5 inches off the ground is good. Or planks etc. Medicinal ball exercises But working that area won't burn fat in that area. A lot of us, myself included seem to hold our very last fat right there. Only keeping going with your deficit will help…

What does "eating cleaner" even mean ?

I Wanted to follow up... and thank everyone for the nudge I needed to see the PA. I was told I could do whatever felt comfortable. I did a little test run today, wrapped it well and took it easy. And, the spot of the puncture itself hurt, but I was able to jog with good form ... even pulled off negative splits (not that…

30 days are 200 calories under is a deficit of 6,000 calories. A lb of fat is about 3500 cals ... at 200 cals a day deficit, it'll take 17 days to lose a lb of fat. You seem to be seeing expected results.

^^ I've never seen a fitbit last long enough to be discarded... *garmin* Jk

To understand ... you did c25k, so got up to 3.1 miles and all on treadmill ? Then you did 5 miles and 6 miles back to back ? My knee would hurt too. People on here taught me to increase mileage slowly, 10% a week. It seemed silly at first but it also seems to have worked as I have increased my distance I can run…

^^ jogging in snow makes me sore in all kinds of weird places ... but my Garmin never gives me any extra for it either.
