  • The motivation for me is that I want to be present for my kids wedding, I want to feel better, and I want to prove to myself that I can do it. Stress is usually want gets me off the wagon...but I find myself back on. Example, I was about about 60-70 lbs lost last March, but family & work issues got me side tracked and I…
  • What I did is that when I stuck to my calorie goal. If I was still "hungry" after that (could be emotional, bored, etc...) I would have a large glass of water and do something to occupy me for 15 mins (TV, video games,Read a book, whatever is enjoyable) most of the time I would forget that I'm hungry and just move on. The…
  • Congrats man! Sometimes it's all about finding what works for you.
  • TLDR; -Focus on where you are now, not where you were. -Meal Prep -Do healthy things and eat right and it won't matter as much what the scale says (Hint: You'll probably be happy with the number ) Story Time:  I've went from 300lbs a few years ago to 230lbs this spring and am now at 245lbs right now. I've had ups…
  • Right on Man!
  • I do like your take on this. One thing that comes to mind is making yourself a jar and putting a quarter or dollar for everything "Good" you accomplish. That way it's rewarding to see it grow and once it's full you can get yourself something with it.
  • That's awesome! Just goes to show what people can do if they make the choice and commit.

  • Right on!!! Well done
  • Right on!!! Way to go man! also "...a will to look better naked"
  • You have every right to feel proud it's an amazing thing to achieve. way to go!!
  • I would ask you what is more important to you? big arms or smaller waist? (I know it's simplified) ...or do the coin toss technique. flip a coin, heads for gains and tails for losing the gut. when the coin is in the air, you will know which you want. Personally, I did weights years ago and I saw gains pretty quickly. I…
  • I pretty much did the same thing for years. "Tomorrow" "Next week" "I had a hard day" "I deserve this". In November I told myself "Enough" and started this journey. To get my portions into check I started by taking the same amount of food but leaving one bite on the plate. then a week later I would take a break halfway…
  • Netflix, Youtube or gaming mostly. If I'm using my exercise bike (It has a seat like a chair) then I'll watch Netflix, Youtube or play some xbox game. If I'm on the elliptical I'll watch a Netflix show. So far it's Breaking Bad or Tidelands but that's just because I've only started the exercise about a month ago.
  • Feel free to add me. I'm not one to write a lot of things, but you can check out my diary too see if anything in there gives you ideas
  • The obvious questions would be: Are you tracking everything? Using a Food Scale, etc...? What I did was start with portion size reduction. I did it slowly. Logged everything (even the bits I didn't want too) and then the next few days I would make my meal a bit smaller. A few weeks later and I was eating half as much. TMI…
  • Mike here, feel free to add me. 38, 5' 8" and started off in Nov 2018 at 290. I'm at 250 right now. in Summer of 2017 I was at 300, I went on MFP after getting the flu for a few days and was able to use it to get to 260. Then over the next year I went back up to 290 by not monitoring and tracking what I eat. I didn't "try"…
  • I don't like eating as soon as I get up in the AM. So what I do is prepare hard boiled eggs in advance I will make 6 of them usually and I keep the shells on. I bring two of them to work and usually eat them between 9 and 10:30am. I find leaving the shell on helps in that they stay "whole". If you don't want the yoke part…
  • Hi, I know exactly what you mean about the office job. For motivation I found that it comes after you give it a week or two and start seeing changes to you body. What I did is start with portion control. I would put the same amount of food on my plate, but made a point to leave some on it (that became part of lunch the…
  • What I do if I go over is just accept it, I do try to rationalize why I did it. I will ask myself if it was it a special event or just a stumble? What I wouldn't do is "not eat" the rest of the day to make up for it. You need food for lunch, dinner, etc... So maybe just try and pick things that makes sense or what you…
  • I'm pretty new to all this so I'm not an expert. I've done the yoyo thing in the past and what was missing for me was the realization that I have to commit to a lifestyle change. I KNEW that I had too, but never was able to commit to it. Tracking on here, getting some results and then letting those results encourage me to…
  • That before pic is funny. Good job at getting to your goal. Kinda nice when cloths go from being too tight to looking like you're wearing "Dad's shirt"
  • For me, it was portion sizes, cut sugar out, and a few tweaks like using milk instead of cream in coffee. For the Chicken breast, maybe check with a butcher of farmer around your area that sells some without the saline injected in them. A few years ago we were able to get some from one of those home grocery door to door…
  • Good job man! Crazy transformation ... you sir have a will of iron! Thanks for sharing it's inspiring for sure. Another benefit you didn't mention is that now the Bass will look bigger
  • Well, first off I'd say exactly what you're doing. You took a stumble, acknowledged it and sounds like you know what you have to do. :) Greet job! A little stumble shouldn't take you out of the whole trek, it's just a little set back. Maybe find yourself a little game or reward system for each of the lbs you still have to…
  • Thanks a bunch :)
  • I've been in the same boat too many times. Here is my weight loss story so far. I was 300lbs when I got married 2.5 years ago and realize that if I didn't make changes (getting winded tying my shoes) I probably won't be walking my daughter down the aisle. That was not acceptable to me, so I looked to make changes. I…
  • Oh yeah I've done that tons of times. I go through the "I'm going to eat right!" thinking and then eat a bag of chips at night because "I will just eat better tomorrow" or "I was good all day, I deserve this". Once I got out of that way of thinking my weight went down. I've had to change my WHOLE eating habits...SLOWLY.…
