  • I believe it was Vice, which I thought was good. Before that was Shoplifters (Japanese movie), which was a unique premise and well-done, but a sad movie.
  • Not the healthiest day today :( Meal 1 (local Mexican restaurant): *restaurant-made blue and yellow corn chips with red and green salsas *salmon burrito bowl with grilled salmon, rice, beans, shredded cheese, guacamole, corn, pico de gallo, and lettuce Snack 1 (doing work at Starbucks yet again): *16oz unsweetened iced…
  • Finding a new place to live, moving, and renovating are very stressful things. Especially if you're being driven out due to the behavior of people who you don't even know. And especially if you are someone who hates change like me. I don't even like going on vacation because I don't like being out of familiar surroundings.…
  • Seconds count and fire spreads fast. I wouldn't grab any material items in an emergency and the few seconds to put clothes on could be life or death.
  • Friday: Meal 1: *plain whole-milk yogurt *Amy's Organic non-dairy bean and rice burrito *onion bagel (last one!) *a tiny amount of leftover red lentil penne (for some reason my husband ate all the pasta except a tiny bit) *16oz of unsweetened extra creamy oat milk Snack 1: *16oz of Lipton Pure Leaf unsweetened black iced…
  • There is one but it's some distance away and would be difficult to get to regularly without a car. BTW I still feel really sore and exhausted two days after working out....
  • We might have to move in the next few weeks :( We like our apartment itself but the issue is with some of the other residents in our building. When we first moved in here we thought the building only allowed small dogs. Well apparently not as we have been seeing more and more large dogs and unfortunately, a couple of them…
  • Do you know what counts as "moderate"? Rollerblading looks fun but not sure if I have the coordination for it. I have never successfully ice skated, skateboarded, or snowboarded. I racewalked on the track team and was pretty good at it but it is very hard on the joints since it's an unnatural way of movement and I got…
  • As a female, sleeping on white sheets only is living dangerously. Anyway I sleep in clothing because I do not want to evacuate naked or waste precious time putting clothes on if there is an emergency.
  • Thanks for all the suggestions. The sleep problems definitely mess up my whole life. I can't have any routine because of it, since I never know when I will sleep or get up or how many hours I will sleep. My whole life would be different if I didn't have insomnia. Last night I couldn't sleep until 7 am. I got up at noon,…
  • I work as a freelance app developer. I would enjoy a job cleaning houses, but my goal is to get a full time job in tech soon...maybe if that doesn't work out though.
  • Yes I walk all the time and have walked up to 20 miles in a day with no problems. It's more anything that breaks a sweat that causes the exhaustion and energy problems. I am looking for more exerting forms of exercise besides walking. Speed walking is a possibility.
  • Thanks. I don't think it's possible for me to build self-esteem. It is just not there. It's like asking a blind person to see.
  • Thanks for the kind words. Yeah I think a lot of people like to judge based on their own conception of how things or people "should" be. Just because something motivates or is easy for them, doesn't mean it will motivate or be easy for someone who has a different set of life experiences and different genetics. Not everyone…
  • If the "wheelchair" argument was a sustainable way to motivate people to work out, we would be a nation of bodybuilders. Also all the power of positive thinking in the world isn't going to change the physical effects of exercise that I have to recover from every time I do it.
  • If you're running outside the cold winter air could be irritating your throat. It used to happen to me all the time on the track team.
  • There's an inexpensive tool you can buy to measure spaghetti (look up "spaghetti measurer").
  • Yeah but then I get into the existential thing of "does it really matter if I biked faster today or lifted more weights?" I guess part of the problem is that I don't really see value in myself that much so subconsciously I think there's no point to improving myself. Thanks for the interesting idea! I don't think it should…
  • Thanks! I think varying the exercises is definitely the way to go. I said multiple times that I would look into several of the ideas (yoga, trampoline, Pilates, exercise classes) so clearly I did not shoot down *all* of them. This discussion has also helped me think of ways I could enjoy exercise, like varying types of…
  • Meal 1: *another poppy seed bagel. Will be happy when these are out of the house. *leftovers -- Field Roast vegan sausage and green bell peppers, both sauteed in olive oil, over lentil penne Snack: *16oz of Lipton Pure Leaf unsweetened iced black tea (usually avoid getting tea in plastic bottles but I already drank from my…
  • I live in the NYC area but not in NYC itself. If I did live in NYC there would be more options. Well maybe not as a gym membership is $90 a month there. I will see if my gym has pilates.
  • One more thought -- perhaps the key would be to rotate between different exercises. I could do exercise bike, yoga, trampoline, two different exercise classes, and running or speedwalking on the track in my town (I don't mind running in small doses as long as it's not on the treadmill or an unsafe area) plus weights and…
  • Pretty sure glitch in the matrix is mostly lies, people with some sort of mental or neurological disorder, coincidences, drugs, sleep deprivation, deja vu, or hallucinations (they're more common than people think even in mentally healthy people).
  • Then obviously you didn't read in enough detail since I said that I would try yoga and that I have been meaning to try an exercise class and I might get a mini trampoline if it doesn't make too much noise to annoy my neighbors. "Just do it" is a meaningless platitude and if it was that simple, obviously I would be doing it…
  • So I'm actually working out right now. I just did 20 minutes on the bike. Now I'm about to go do weights and conditioning. Here are some thoughts and observations. *I actually am able to go a lot faster on the bike now than I was the first time I used it. Even though I didn't think I made any progress, I guess I did. *It…
  • I actually enjoy healthy foods and don't find it that hard to eat at a calorie deficit if I ever do have to lose weight, so the diet part is not a problem at all. I have even been working on cutting back white flour and refined sugar with some success. I also don't drink/smoke/do drugs/gamble/play video games/etc. (my only…
  • Our finances are actually really good (thanks to my husband's job and inheritance from my grandma), but it's more that I feel guilty spending a lot of money on myself since I'm only working part-time. I live in the NYC area so I feel like probably if there were better sleep doctors, they would be here already? Another…
  • I didn't drink that much before I went AF (I went AF for a variety of reasons, one of which is that addiction and mental health issues run in my family) so I don't think it's related. I probably think it looks worse than it is anyway. Don't feel too badly about that -- she was probably just making sure because some people…
  • Maybe I just haven't gotten into yoga enough to get to the parts where it builds a lot of strength. I will definitely look more into it as a result of this thread. I don't think so. All my friends live at least 20 minutes away and many of them don't have cars (they live in a city, I live in the suburbs) and many of them…
  • I've been to two sleep doctors. One told me to track my sleep on a chart and to force myself to get up even if I didn't get any sleep the night before and then my sleep cycle would naturally equalize. That didn't happen, especially because I turn off alarms in my sleep even if they're across the room and the only way to…
