I agree the body mass measurements are going to be a bit off, however I do find I’m getting a downward trend with the BM measurements. So even if the numbers are wrong, surely in theory the BM is going down? Or up in some cases. Mine is fairly consistent numbers being close and steadily decreasing.

I too use Withings I think it’s under Nokia health mate app now though. I sync it to my iPhone and in turn the app syncs to MFP and Apple health kit and Happy scales.

I agree. I do low carb (though not in that sub forum) but I still count my calories. For a long time I did low carb and couldn’t understand why I wasn’t losing weight. Wasn’t until I did calorie counting on top of low carb did anything start to move. I was having low carb meals but with a 500-700 calorie per serve meal.…

It recognises half the steps compared to if I wasn’t walking with pram. The times I’ve done the same walk gotten double the steps, but pram registers less,

When I had both my kids and breastfeeding them and being up long hours at night, no amount of reasoning that reaching for the sugar laden food was a bad idea, any rationale went out the window during this period. It was like I was literally blind to everything else. I needed and craved sugary and fattening food like I…

Replace it with almond milk. Its delicious!

you can get very low sodium chicken stock, the lowest I've found is 95mg per 100grams in Australia. I'm big on not purchasing items that have added salt in. we have a lot of brands with 'no added salt' and comparing it with the oringal, its shocking how much salt is added. i would think chicken stock does have salt, but…

Mine wants me to do 750 minutes of excerise this month. As of the 6th I’ve done 185minutes.

I think you need to see a GP and find out what the cause for gain is first.
-
What’s your weight and height? How much are you trying to lose? Have you taken body measurements?
-
you gained 300grams. Nothing to worry about. Maybe you slept bad. I saw you had pizza, depending on who/whats in pizza, thats often high in salt. so could just be water weight. I would not worry about this. Congrats on losing weight. I get the fear of gaining, but this isn't one to worry about. a walk around the block will…
Let's not pretend that Starbucks is typically great about making drinks true to their form with regards to the name of the drink. See their usage of the term macchiato...
You raise a fair point.

It's just cream in a venti, well, It's just not done in australia like that. I don't think we even have cream as an option. Its Milk, skim, Soy, Almond, and whipped cream. There isn't any cream option. Which is why I was confused. I know if I go into a Starbucks in the UK, you cannot get a Venti Flat white. you can only…

Yes. I don’t work out. I wish I did though, I feel really good doing so. But toddler demands otherwise. I try do long walks though.
-
Flat white needs neither heavy cream or whipped. Which is what I’m saying, a proper Flat white is 2 espressos and 250mls of milk, with a thin layer of milk froth.
-
You’ve butchered a flat white! That’s not how you’re supposed to have it. And yes, there’s a reason I don’t do Starbucks with whipped cream on top (I assume that’s what you meant?) anymore. The scales are not kind the next day.

Yes, I'm nw less than I was prior to the sudden weight gain, so back to dropping weight off, still slow, but that's how i roll :D
-
thanks everyone! within a week the weight all dropped off. Id done a intense workout the day before and It probably contributed to it. I was sore for days afterwards.
-
if i had a heavy dish of pasta and cream even a small bite, I feel sick and bloated afterwards. It's not even a weight issue for me, its just how horrendous I feel, even though dish is delicious, its not worth the discomfort afterwards.
-
you can use any diet rule, lets take low carb for example. I do low carb, i do a maximum of 75-100g of carbs a day (I couldn't do keto!) but i still apply the CICO on top of that. calories in calories out still account for the whole diet. you often find people might go on a low carb diet thinking 'the carbs in this are…

Ive been trying to lose weight for a long time. Counting calories is working for me the best. Don't starve yourself over messing up one day. for example, MFP says I should do 1200 calories to lose 1 kilo a week. I more like eat 1400-1500 calories. I don't freak out. I just lose more like 0.5 kilo a week instead. I cant do…

I like this idea. I find entering my food for the day helps. It allows me to account for whats left. I get parties are really hard to avoid. Plan a work out for each of those days, not a punishing one, just one that lets you burn calories and reduce the impact of the junk food there. It won't erase the food you've eaten,…

if you are getting readings of 85/125 that's not too bad. actually that's pretty normal. optimal is 80/120. you should be concerned with anything that reads over 90/140 the bottom number is going to fluctuate a lot more than the top number. I take regular blood pressure readings, I do it in same seat, before tablets, give…
-
My understand is you can tack on any 'diet' rule (ie, Keto, Low carb, plant based, etc) but you will still need to apply CICO rules too. For example, I do Low carb due to borderline insulin resistance, but I still count my calories.
-
That made me gag. in what part of the world is this okay?!?
-
thank you! I haven't woo'd anyone, the suggestions have been great. I love parmesan, and we have this regular in the house, I think ill give that a shot seeing that it allows me to have the flavour without calorie overload. But i hadn't thought of the bocconcini which is super yum too! I think I've got my winter lunches…

I totally get it. I started weight loss journey 3 months ago. First 4 weeks I lost nothing. Despite exercising like mad. Then sudden it was like something woke up and finally started working. It’s been three months and I’ve lost 6 kilos. So basically 2 kilos a month. It’s slow. But it’s happening. And I feel the changes.…

I find it a bit annoying it doesn’t use active calories from Apple Watch. However if I were to’track’ my activity it uses them! I don’t get it. Why use the calories from move but use active calories if I track workout?

Meal planning Defintely helped here. I pick everything up on Sunday and prep for the week. I have 2 kids on top of that. So life is busy. And planning meals around what’s happening makes it easier not to fall into the takeaway crap. We do do takeaway because it’s enjoyable from time to time, but I don’t want to rely on it…

Anything from Starbucks. When I found out how many calories were in my venti white chocolate mocha I made myself limit that to once a month. Even going the smallest cup didn’t improve the calories much either. Cheese and nuts. I had to go on a low carb diet due to gestational diabetics and it was hard. Cheese and nuts are…
